Combining Denon's renowned A/V receiver technologies and our reference-class Blu-ray disc playback expertise, the S-5BD integrated AVR/BD combo sets

the standard for user convenience, quick and easy setup, and superb high de nition picture and sound quality. Featuring the latest high resolution audio

decoders, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, the S-5BD also includes Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which features Music and Cinema modes to pro-

vide thrilling surround sound from conventional two channel audio sources. As well, the S-5BD features Dolby Virtual Speaker, which provides enveloping

surround sound e ects using only two front speakers. For quick and easy setup, the S-5BD features Audyssey's renowned MultEQ automatic room acoustic

measurement and correction system. Using the supplied calibration microphone, the system automatically measures and adjusts key audio parameters,

including number of speakers, speaker size and speaker distance, for truly balanced matched system performance. The integrated Blu-ray disc player features

BD-Live connectivity, along with DVD and music CD playback, and the S-5BD includes top notch video processing, upconverting SD programs to high de ni-

tion, up to 1080p. iPod and USB media playback is also supported, and the S-5BD automatically sets the appropriate surround mode for each input.

Audyssey MultEQ counts the number of speakers you have

connected and analyzes the characteristics of both the

• First Setup function

The "First Setup" function becomes active when power to the

S-5BD is turned on for the first time. At this time, the S-5BD

makes careful measurements and analyzes of your room’s

acoustics and speakers’ characteristics to make optimum acous-

tic settings. The S-5BD not only saves you from the complicated

process of making settings manually, it also performs them more

easily and with greater accuracy.

• Automatic Sound Mode, that automatically
switches to stereo sound when you’re listening to
music sources, or to surround sound when you’re
enjoying video programs. Compressed Audio
Restorer automatically operates when you play
compressed music sources.

• Advanced GUI (Graphical User Interface),

Dynamic Volume solves the problem of large variations in

volume level between television programs, commercials, and

between the soft and loud passages of movies.

Dynamic EQ solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality as vol-

ume is decreased by taking into account human perception and

room acoustics for a natural tonal balance at any volume level.

Frequently-used buttons are arranged on the front, while buttons

used less frequently are placed on the rear. Frequently-used buttons

are also larger and given di erent colors for easy identi cation.

that automatically turns on power to the TV, switches the TV’s

input line, and immediately starts the movie.

The S-5BD’s remote control unit can be preset while viewing

the TV screen so that it also operates the A/V devices of other

manufacturers. It does not require the trouble of entering each

code one by one based on instructions in the manual.
