Important Information
This equipment generates and uses radio frequency energy and if not installed and used properly, that is, in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions, may cause interference in radio and television reception. It
has been type tested and found to comply with the limits for class B computing devices in accordance with the specification in subpart J of part 15
of FCC rules, which are designed to provide reasonable protection
against such interference in a residential installation. However, there is
no guarantee that interference will not occur in a partial installation. If this
equipment does cause interference to radio or television reception, which
can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following
measures:
n Reorient the receiving antenna,
n Relocate the peripheral away from the receiver,
n Move the peripheral away from the receiver
n Plug the peripheral into a different outlet, so that the peripheral and re-
ceiver are on different branch circuits
If necessary, the user should consult the dealer or an experienced radio/
television technician for additional suggestions. The user may find the fol-
lowing booklet, prepared by the Federal Communications Commission,
helpful: “How to Identify and Resolve Radio-TV Interference Problems”.
This booklet is available from the U.S. Government Printing Office,
Washington DC 20402 Stock No. 004.000.00345.4.
WARNING: To comply with FCC regulations on electromagnetic interference for a class B computing device, the printer cable must be shielded. To assure compliance with FCC regulations for a computing device,
use a shielded interface cable with a metal shell connector. The use of
cables not properly shielded may result in violating FCC regulations.
This digital apparatus does not exceed the class B limits for radio noise
emissions from digital apparatus as set out in the radio interference regulations of the Canadian department of communications.
This unit complies with DOC standard C108.8-M 1983
ATTENTION: Le présent appareil nu mérique n'ement pas de bruits radioélectriques déspassant les limites applicables aux appareils numériques
de la classe B prescrites dans le règlement sur le brouillage radio-électrique édicté par le minstère des communications du Canada.

Handling and settings
` Changing the paper typeThe printer is able to process either single sheets or fanfold paper. Only fanfold
paper can be cutted. If the printer is set for single-sheet mode, you will need to
change the paper type.
This example shows how to select tractor 1 (the recommended paper source). You
can select tractor 2 or tractor 3 in the same way. We recommend to use only one
tractor since the cutting position may change when the paper source is changed.

If you use different paper ways it is possible that minor divergences of the adjusted
cut position occur when switching between the paper ways. You can eliminate
these divergences from the adjusted cut position by means of the parameter
Sync.Lab in the test menu of the printer. In this case you have to use paper with a
black label on the back. This label is scanned after switching on the printer, when
changing paper and loading paper.
ENGLISH
See section Technical data and Paper specifications for details about the position,
the dimensions and the density of the label.
To activate the parameter Sync.Lab, which is switched off by default, proceed as
follows:
First set to printer to test mode by pressing the Online key while switching on the
printer.

If the printer cannot detect an existing label on the back of the paper, the parameter Pap.back can in test mode be set from “normal” to “dark”. You will find a
description of this parameter in the user guide of your printer on the online CDROM.

The Auto View, the Auto Cut, the Cut at TOF or the Cut on Formfeed functions can
be optionally selected.
With ViewCut=Off selected, the paper is
neither fed automatically to the View position nor cut.
With Auto View selected, the previously
printed text is visible. The paper is
returned to the normal printing position as
soon as data are received. After the printout, the printer waits for the set period and
then returns the paper to the Auto View
position.
With Auto Cut selected, the paper’s active
length is the cutting position. The paper
returns to the normal printing position as
soon as data are received. After the printout, the printer waits for the set period and
then returns the paper to the cutting position and cuts it (see also Setting the cut-ting position).
If Cut at TOF is selected, the paper is cut
whenever the form length is exceeded.
If Cut on Formfeed is selected, the paper
is only fed when the printer receives a
FormFeed (0C hex) command.
ENGLISH
The printer detects the cut device during initialization and replaces the Tear function by the Cut function. All menu settings and escape sequences previously relating to the Tear function will then be applied to the Cut function.
