Front Panel / Generalities
For a longer service life, be sure to read the following cautions.
• Do not allow any liquids on the set from drinks, umbrellas, etc. Doing so may
damage the internal circuitry.
• Do not disassemble or modify the set in any way. Doing so may result in damage.
• Do not let cigarettes burn the display. Doing so may damage or deform the body.

Cleaning the body
• Use a soft, dry cloth and gently wipe off
the dirt.
• For tough dirt, apply some neutral detergent diluted in water to a soft cloth, wipe off the dirt gently, then wipe again with a dry cloth.

Replacing the lithium battery of remote control unit.
When the ran ge of the opera tion of the card remote control becomes short or no fu nctions while operating . Replace the battery with a new lithium battery. Make sure the battery polar ity
replacement is correct.
1. Pull out the battery holder while pressing the stopper.
2. Insert the button-type battery with the stamped(+) mark facing upward. Insert the battery holder into the remote control.

4. OPERATIONS
Basic Operations
Note:
• Refer to the diagrams in “3. CONTROLS” when reading this chapter.
CAUTION
When the unit is turned on, starting and stopping the engine with its volume raised to the maximum level may harm your hearings. Be careful about adjusting the volume.
Power on / off
Notes:
• Start the engine before using this unit.
• Be careful about using this unit for a long
time without running the engine. If you drain the car’s battery too far, you may not be able to start the engine and this can reduce the service life of the battery.
1. Start the engine. The power button / knob
illumination on the unit will light up.
Engine ON position
2. Press the [CONTROL] knob on the front
panel or [SRC /
] button on the remote control to turn on the power under standby mode. The unit goes back to the last status after power on.
3. Press and hold the [CONTROL] knob
(center long press) on the front panel, and rotate the [CONTROL] knob choose POWER OFF, then press the [CONTROL]
knob on the front panel to turn off the power.
Or press and hold [SRC / ] button on
remote control to turn off the power.
Mute
Press the [MUTE] button on the remote control to mute the volume from the unit.
Note:
Doing the operation above again or adjusting volume will release muting.
RESET
Volume adjustment
Turn the [CONTROL] knob on the front panel.
The adjustable range of volume is 0 to 40.
CAUTION
While driving, keep the volume level at which external sounds can be heard.
Playing source selection
Press [CONTROL] knob on the front panel repeatedly to choose desired playing source.
Notes:
• Playing source selection means selecting work mode, such as RADIO mode and
AUX mode, etc.
Display system time
Press the [DISP] button on the remote control to switch the display information,
system time and playing source.
RESET Note:
* When the [RESET] button is pressed, frequencies of radio stations, titles, etc.
stored in memory are cleared.

PASSWORD (SIRIUS mode)
Pre ss the [CON TROL] knob to ent er old passw ord, r otate the [C ONTROL] knob to
selec t a digit , press th e [CONTROL] knob (left / right ) to move the cu rsor. Press the
[CONTRO L] knob to confirm after input al l 4 di git. Then input a new 4-digit number as above. (Original password: 0000)
LOCK (SIRIUS mode)
Press the [CONTROL] knob to lock curr ent station, r otate the [CO NTROL] the kn ob to selec t a digit , press t he [CONTROL] k nob (left / right) to move the cursor. Long pr ess
the kno b to con fir m after inp ut a ll 4 dig it password.
UNLOCK (SIRIUS mode)
Pres s the [CO NTRO L] kn ob t o unlock all locked stations, rotate the [CONTROL] knob to select a digit, press the [CONTROL] knob (left / right ) to move the cu rsor. Press the
[CONTROL] knob to conrm after input all 4 digit password.
UNSKIP (SIRIUS mode)
Pre ss a nd hol d th e [ CON TROL] kno b to unskip all channels.
DX/LO (RADIO mode)
Rotate the [CONTROL] knob to choose radio local or distant at RADIO mode.
LO: Only stat ions with str ong signal ca n be received.
System Setup
DX: Stations with strong and weak signals can be received.
PCH ME MO (RA DIO/H D R ADI O/SIR IUS mode)
Rotate the [CONTROL] knob to choose PCH 1 / PCH 2 / PCH 3 / PCH 4 / PCH 5 or PCH 6, press and hold [CONTROL] knob (center long press) to store it in the memory.
AUX SENS (AUX mode)
Rotate the [CONTROL] knob to choose AUX input sensitivity LOW, MID or HIGH a t AUX mode.
AUTO CON (BT mode): ON/OFF
Rot ate the [CON TRO L] knob to choo se AUTO CON ON or OFF.
PIN CODE Pr es s the [CON TR OL ] kno b, rota te the [CON TROL] knob to select a digit, pre ss
the [CONTROL] knob ( left / righ t) to move the cursor. Press the [CONTROL] knob to
conrm.
The PIN CODE default setting is “ 0000 “.
MIC SEL (BT mode)
Rot ate the [CON TRO L] knob to choo se microphone EXTERNAL or INTERNAL.
MIC GAIN (BT mode)
Rotate th e [CONTROL ] knob to choose Mic gain: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. You can chan ge t he g ain of MIC when a
telephone partner cannot hear your voice.
SCRN SVR: ON/OFF
Rot ate the [CON TRO L] knob to choo se SCRN SVR (screen saver) ON or OFF.
SCROLL: ON/OFF
For track information that is longer than the
display panel: When SCROLL is ON, the LCD will di splay ID3 TAG info rmation cy clely, e.g.: TRACK­> FO LD ER -> F I L E- >A LB UM - > TI TL E­>ARTIST->TRACK->... When SCROLL is OFF, the LCD will display
one of th e ID 3 TAG inf ormation, the default
is TRACK, but user can adjust it to other ID3

band among FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM.
Manual tuning
During manual tuning, the frequency will be
changed in steps. Press the [CONTROL] knob (left/right) on the panel or [

Satellite Radio Mode
Satellite Radio Mode
Listeners can subscribe to SIRIUS® Radio on the Web by visiting www.sirius.com, or by calling (888)
539-SIRIUS. Customers should have their SIRIUS ID ready (SI RIU S ID i s lo cate d on the SC-C 1 SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Tuner, solid separately).
Customers can listen to music samples by tuning
to channel 184.
Accessing satellite radio mode
Pres s the [ CONTR OL] k nob or [SRC / ] button on the remote control to switch to the
SAT source.
Displaying the Identication (ID) Code
Before you listen to satellite radio, you must
subscr ibe to the service using your ra dio’s ident ifica tion number. T o display the r adio
ID, use the [CONTROL] knob (left) or [
]
tuning button on the remote control to tune to
channel “0”. The screen displays the radio ID where the channel name is usually displayed.
Check SC-C1 SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Tuner
the remote control to seek a higher / lower
station. To stop searching, repeat the operation
above or press other buttons having radio
functions.
Note:
When a station is received, searching stops and the station is played.
Preset scan
Preset scan receives the stations stored in preset memory in order. This function is
useful when searching for a desired station
in memory.
1. Press the [SCN/PS/AS] button on the
remote control.
2. When a desired station is tuned in, press
the [SCN/PS/AS] button on the remote controlagain to continue receiving that station.
Note:
Be careful not to press and hold the [SCN/ PS/AS] button, otherwise the auto store
function is engaged and the unit starts storing stations.
Auto store
Only stations with sufcient signal strength will be detected and stored in the memory.
Press and hold the [SCN/PS/AS] button on the remote control to start automatic station
search.
To stop auto store, press other buttons
having radio functions.
Notes:
1. After auto store, the previous stored
stations will be overwritten.
2. The unit has 4 bands, such as FM1, FM2,
FM3 and AM. FM3 and AM can store
by AS function. Each bands can store 6
stations, FZ501 can store 24 stations in total.
Manual store
When one expected radio station has been detected, press and hold number button
on the remote control 1-6 to store it in the memory.
Recall the stored stations
Press one numeric button among 1 to 6 on
the remote control or on the panel to select the corresponding stored station.
Local seeking
When LOCAL seeking is on, only those
radio stations with strong radio signal could be received.
Refer to System Setup page 9.
Note:
The number of radi o stations that can be received will decrease after the local seeking
mode is on.

TUNER” will appear on the LCD.
Select a band
Pres s th e the [CO NTRO L] kn ob ( up long press) on the panel o r [ BAND/TOP ] b utton on the remote contro l to chang e bet ween
three SAT bands (SR1, SR2 and SR3). Each band stores up to six preset stations.
Select a station
Press the [CONTROL] knob (lef t / right) o n the panel or [
, ] buttons on the remote
control to tune to another station.
Preset mode
Six n umbered preset buttons on the remote
con tro l store and reca ll s tat ion s for each
band.
Preset scan
Short press the [SCN/PS/AS] button on the remote control to start category scanning. Lo ng pre ss the [SC N/PS /AS] butt on on the rem ote con trol to sta rt pres et stat ion scanning for 10 seconds each.
Storing a station
1. Select a ba nd (if needed), then s elect a
station.
2. Press and hold a preset button (numbers
1-6) on the remote control.
3. Th e p re se t nu mb er a nd st at io n is
displayed and highlighted.
Recalling a station
1. Select a band (if needed).
2. Pre ss a rem ote con trol pres et butt on (numbers 1-6) to select the corresponding
stored station.
Category and Channel search
To access Cate gory and C hannel Searc h mode, pre ss the [CONTROL] knob (up long press) on the panel o r [ BAND/TOP ] b utton on the remote control long press.

Accessing radio mode
Press the [CONTROL] knob or [SRC / ]
button on the remote con trol to switc h to the HD RADIO source, and HD icon will illuminate.
Select a band
Press and hold the [CONTROL] knob (up long press) on the panel or [BAND/TOP] button on the remote control to change between three
FM and one AM bands. Each band stores up
to six preset stations.
Tuning

HD Radio multicast channels
To tune t o an HD Radio multicas t chann el, tune to t he mai n signa l and then press the
[CONTROL] knob on the panel. PTY and SUB CH are displayed. Select PTY or SUB CH by rotate [CONTROL] knob and push to conrm.

Preset stations
Up to six stati ons on each ba nd can be stored as presets, which can then be instantly recall ed by pre ssing the associ ated preset button. To store a station, turn the radio on and sel ect the des ired band and stat ion. Pres s an d hold the desired pre set butto n (numb ered o ne thr ough s ix on the remote cont rol) . Whe n stored, the prese t number will appear in the display. The station is now stored and can be reca lled by pressin g t he corresponding preset button. Repeat for the remaini ng five pre sets on the current band and for presets on the other four bands.
NOTE: Multicast stations can be stored as presets, but the unit must be in Digital or Auto reception mode to receive them.
Preset scan
Pres s [SCN/PS/ AS] b utto n on th e remote control to scan and play all preset stations for 10 seconds each. Press [SCN/PS/AS] button on the remote control again to stop scanning and play the current station.
Note:
Be careful not to press an d h old the [SCN/ PS /AS ] but ton o n the r emo te co ntr ol,
otherwise the auto store function is engaged
and the unit starts storing stations.
Automatic store (AS)
Press the [SCN/PS/AS] button on the remote control to select six strong stations and store
them in the FM3 or AM band using the auto
store function. After entering the stations into
memory , the uni t will au tomat ically s top at each station for ve seconds, allowing you to preview each selection. When using the auto store function, the new stations replace any
stations already stored in preset memory.
Note:
You c an s top th e au to sto re fu nction at any
time by pressing the [SCN/PS/AS] button on
the remote control again.
iTunes® Tagging
Th e uni t o ffer s iT un es® Tagg ing, wh ich
allow s the u ser to " Tag" songs playin g on
HD Radi o™ stat ions f or purc hase l at er through iTunes. When press [ISR] button on the remote contorl, the u nit stores the tit le
and art ist song information that can then be transferred to your iPod when connected to the unit. A list titled "Tagged" will appear in iTunes, allowing you the option to purchase

You can tag up to 64 songs before the tags must be transferred to your iPod or deleted.

Storing Channel Presets
1. Press [BAND] to select the desired band you want to store the preset in.
There are 3 Satellite Radio Preset bands.
Each press of [BAND] changes the band: SXM1 -> SXM2 -> SXM3 -> SXM1

Bluetooth Operations
The Bluetooth allows you to utilize your car’s bui lt- in audi o sy stem for wirel ess mobile
phone or mu sic handsfree communicat ion.

Handsfree Operations Pairing
1. Turn on Bluetooth function of your mobile
phone.
2. Ent er mob ile phone ’s Blue tooth setup
menu.
3. Search for new Bluetooth devices.
4. Select FZ502 from the pairing list on the
mobile phone.
5. En ter “ 000 0” a s the p ass wor d (T he password default setting is “ 0000 ”).
6. Afte r pa iring succ ess full y, t he u nit wil l enter Bluetooth m ode automatic ally, and “BLUETOOTH CONNECTED” will appear on the LCD.
Making a call

4) Cautions on Installation
1. Prepare all articles necessary for
installing the source unit before
starting.
2. Install the unit within 30° of the horizontal plane. (Figure 2)
3. If you have to do any work on the car
body, such as drilling holes, consult
your car dealer beforehand.
4. Use the enclosed screws for
installation.
Using other screws can cause
damage. (Figure 3)
5) Installing the Source Unit
1. Place the mounting bracket into the instrument panel, use a screwdriver to bend
each stopper of the mounting bracket inward, then secure the stopper.
2. Wire as shown in Section 7) .
3. Insert the source unit into the mounting bracket until it locks.
4. Take care of the top and bottom of the trim ring and mount it so that all the hooks
are locked.
Notes:
1. Some car models require special mounting kits for proper installation. Consult your
Clarion dealer for details.
2. Fasten the front stopper securely to prevent the source unit from coming loose.

6) Removing the Source Unit

2. Place M5×6 cylindrical screw through the
holes of the mounting frame located inside the opening to holes of the unit and fasten
the screws to left & right.
Trim ring installation
Attach the trim ring around the front panel.
Disassemble trim ring
1. Push the trim ring to right and pull out the right part.
2. Push the trim ring to left and pull out the left part.
Disassemble the unit
1. Switch off the power.
2. Remove the trim ring.
3. Insert the removal keys straight back until
they lock,then pull the unit out.
4. Disconnect all the wires.
