Agilent Network Analyzer.

Configuration Information The Network Analyzer family consists of four hardware analysis platforms: the Network

Analyzer, Distributed Network Analyzer (DNA), Distributed Network Analyzer MX (DNA
MX) and Distributed Network Analyzer ME (DNA ME). The last of these has built-in NDIS­based LAN interfaces and the remaining three accept a range of line interface modules
(LIMs), which are completely interchangeable.

The Network Analyzer, DNA, DNA MX, DNA ME, and Network Analyzer Software all
include one year of Agilent AdvantageTMsupport at no additional cost. Agilent
AdvantageTMsupport includes call center support, software update service, and web­based instructor-led training. A number of other support products and education are
available for Network Analyzer products for an additional fee.

The J6800A Network Analyzer is an “all under one handle” solution with a built-in PC and
can accept up to two LIMs in any combination; these must be ordered separately. This
analyzer is also shipped with a USB optical mouse, two CD RW media, recovery CD
media, and power cord (localized for the country of sale).

The J6801A Distributed Network Analyzer is a solution for dispatched and distributed use,
designed to be controlled from a standard PC running Microsoft Windows®2000, XP or
NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5 or greater) via a LAN connection. It can accept any of the
available LIMs; these must be ordered separately. It can also be attached to the Network
Analyzer and Distributed Network Analyzer MX platforms to provide additional ports.

The J6802A Distributed Network Analyzer MX is a solution with a built-in controller
running Network Analzyer Software for remote dispatched and distributed use, designed
to be accessed from a standard PC running a basic version of Network Troubleshooting
Center on Microsoft Windows®2000, XP or NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5 or greater) via a LAN
or dial-up connection. It can accept any of the available LIMs; these must be ordered
separately.

The J6805A Distributed Network Analyzer ME is an enterprise LAN solution with a built-in
controller for distributed use, designed to be accessed from a standard PC running a basic
version of Network Troubleshooting Center on Microsoft Windows®2000, XP or NT 4.0
(Service Pack 5 or greater) via a LAN connection. It has two built-in half-duplex
10/100Base-TX test interfaces and can test two half-duplex circuits or one full-duplex circuit.

Network Analyzer Software is pre-loaded and fully enabled on the Network Analyzer,
Distributed Network Analyzer MX and Distributed Network Analyzer ME. Network
Analyzer Software on CD media plus a single-use license key is shipped with the
Distributed Network Analyzer. The J6840A Network Analyzer Software is a productized
version of this software available for operation on any PC running Microsoft Windows
2000, XP or NT 4.0.

The Network Troubleshooting Center (NTC) software provides the means to perform
centralized testing using the various Network Analyzer hardware platforms (particularly the
J6802A and J6805A), and can also access information using SNMP/RMON/RMON2
from network equipment MIBs. A basic version of NTC software is shipped with all
Network Analyzer family hardware platforms, with the ability to remotely access and
control Network Analyzer platforms, perform SNMP-based data collection from up to four
data sources simultaneously (analyzers from the Network Analyzers family or interface
MIBs), and manage many agents. NTC also offers add-on distributed test applications,
including NTC RMON (J6782A) and NTC WLAN (J6783A).

Network Analyzer Software provides the following functions:

• It controls the J6800A Network Analyzer, J6801A Distributed Network Analyzer and
J6802A Distributed Network Analyzer MX hardware analyzers to provide testing on any
of the available LAN or WAN LIMs (WAN includes ATM) and it controls the J6805A
Distributed Network Analyzer ME to provide testing on its NDIS-based test interfaces.

• It runs on a PC fitted with a standard NDIS-based network interface card (10/100/1000
Mb/s Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI) and uses this card as the measurement interface for
LAN testing.

• It acts as the client for accessing and controlling a Network Analyzer Software NDIS
Server that is operating on another PC.

• It allows the user to perform full off-line analysis on data previously captured from any
Network Analyzer family product, Agilent Advisor or NDIS-based NIC.

The Network Analyzer Software is available separately as the J6840A product, which
should be ordered for the following situations:

• For an engineer who does not own or has not ordered a hardware analyzer but who
wants to run Network Analyzer Software on a standard PC fitted with an NDIS-based
network interface card and use this for measurements and/or run off-line analysis on data
captured and saved on another PC, or Network Analyzer hardware platform.

• For an engineer who wants to access and control a Network Analyzer Software NDIS
Server operating on another PC

• For two or more engineers who want to share a Distributed Network Analyzer but control
it from their own PCs when they have access to it; the single-use license key provided
with each copy of the J6840A product will allow those engineers temporarily without
access to the Distributed Network Analyzer to perform off-line analysis on data they have
previously captured and/or perform LAN testing using a fitted LAN NDIS card. They can
also control the Distributed Network Analyzer when they have access to it.

This accessory comes pre-loaded with the operating system and the current version of Network
Analyzer Software. The drive can be swapped with the J6800A HDD for security reasons.

The use model for this accessory is as follows: the analyzer is moved between high-security
locations leaving a J6750A HDD secured at each of these locations. In this way, no
security risk occurs when the analyzer is moved as all sensitive data stays with the HDD.

J6751A Alternative Hard Disk Drive Assembly Qty__

For use with the J6802A Distributed Network Analyzer MX.

This accessory comes pre-loaded with the operating system and the current version of
Network Analyzer Software. The drive can be swapped with the J6802A HDD for security
reasons.

The use model for this accessory is similar to that for the J6750A accessory. Note that the
J6750A and the J6751A differ not only in the software loaded on each but also
physically; they are not interchangeable.

J6753A Additional Combo 56K Modem Qty__

This accessory can be used as a measurement interface for use with Network Analyzer
Software.

One instance of this network interface card is included with the J6800A Network
Analyzer when it ships. This accessory should therefore only be ordered if the customer

wishes to use Network Analyzer Software when the included card is already in use for
remote control purposes. This NIC can also be used in the second PC card slot in the
Distributed Network Analyzer MX for use as an Ethernet measurement interface.
