WELCOME Thank you for choosing the ZTE MF30 Global Mobile Hotspot (hereinafter referred to as “Wireless Router"). To get the most from your router and to keep it in the best condition please read this manual carefully. The pictures, symbols and contents in this manual are for reference only. They might not be completely identical with your router. ZTE operates a policy of continuous development. 1 General Information
1.1 Safety Precautions
Some electronic devices may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference. Locate the router away from TV set, radio and other electronic equipment to avoid electromagnetic interference. The router may interfere with medical devices like hearing aids and pacemakers. Consult a physician or the manufacturer of the medical device before using the router. Please keep yourself at least 20 centimeters away from router. Do not use your router in dangerous environments such as oil terminals or chemical factories where there are explosive gases or explosive products being processed. Please use original accessories or accessories that are authorized by ZTE. Unauthorized accessories may affect the router performance, damage the router or cause danger to you. Do not attempt to dismantle the router. There are no user serviceable parts. Do not allow the router or accessories to come into contact with liquid or moisture at any time. Do not immerse the router in any liquid. Do not place objects on top of the router. This may lead to overheating of the device. The device must be placed in ventilation environment for use. Do not expose the router to direct sunlight or store it in hot areas. High temperature can shorten the life of electronic devices. Do not allow children to play with the router or charger.
Keep the length of the cable between the router and the phone less than 10 meters. The router is for indoor use only. Do not use the router outside. Do not connect telephone extensions which run outside of the building. These can result in lightning damage to your unit.
1.2 Declaration
We, ZTE Corporation, declared that:
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is
subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to
which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/ TV technician for help. Caution: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user‟s authority to operate the equipment.
1.3 Cleaning and Maintaining
Use an antistatic cloth to clean the router. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleanser as these could damage the plastic case. Turn off your router before you clean it. Use the router within the temperature range of -10°C ~ +45°C, and the storage temperature range is -20°C ~ +70°C. The humidity range is 5%~95%. Do not use your router during a thunderstorm. Remove the mains power pack from the wall socket. Do not take out your (U)SIM card unnecessarily. The (U)SIM card may be easily lost or it can be damaged by static electricity.
1.4 Limited Warranty
This warranty does not apply to defects or errors in the Product caused
by:
(a) Reasonable Router Appearance Disfiguration.
(b) End User‟s failure to follow ZTE‟s installation, operation or
maintenance instructions or procedures.
(c) End User‟s mishandling, misuse, negligence, or improper
installation, disassemble, storage, servicing or operation of the
Product.
(d) Modifications or repairs not made by ZTE or a ZTE-certified
individual.
(e) Power failures, surges, fire, flood, accident, actions of third parties
or other events outside ZTE‟s reasonable control.
(f) Usage of products of third Parties, or usage in conjunction with third
party products provided that such defects is due to the combined usage.
(g) Any other cause beyond the range of normal usage for Products. End User shall have no right to reject, return, or receive a refund for any Product from ZTE under the above-mentioned situations.
This warranty is end user‟s sole remedy and ZTE‟s sole liability for
defective or nonconforming items, and is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed, implied or statutory, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, unless otherwise required under the mandatory provisions of the law.
1.5 Limitation of Liability
ZTE shall not be liable for any loss of profits or indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages resulting from or arising out of or in connection with using of this product, whether or not ZTE had been advised, knew or should have known of the possibility of such damages, including, but not limited to lost profits, interruption of business, cost of capital, cost of substitute facilities or product, or any downtime cost.

2 Getting started

2.3 Work mode
There are two working modes for this product: AP mode: Power on directly. And following picture is the application
example.
Modem Mode: Firstly connect with computer using USB data cable,
then power on. And following picture is the application example.

2.4 Installation
1. Insert the (U)SIM card This contains your phone number and acts as a store for your contacts. Insert this face down into the carrier inside the back panel of the phone. Make sure it is pushed all the way down as shown below:
Warning: Please power off the product and remove the external power adapter before removing or inserting the (U)SIM card, if not, the product or (U)SIM card may be damaged.
2. Insert the battery

Use the thumb catch at the bottom of the product to open the battery cover. 2
Insert the battery as shown with the contacts located against the gold springs. 3
Press the battery down flush into the case 4
Line the battery cover up correctly and press gently to close the case.
3. Charge Your Router

Insert the charger lead carefully with the plug arrow facing the bottom of the product. 2
The plug only fits one way. Do not use excessive force to insert the plug. 3
Check the plug is the right way round and lined up correctly and insert it gently.
4. Insert the microSD card into the product.
Insert microSD card into the product, if you want to use it. 1
Open the door of the memory card slot. Note: Do not pull the door rudely for it is connected with the modem.

Insert the microSD card into the microSD slot. The following picture indicates the correct inserting direction. When the microSD card locks in place you will hear a click.

Close the door of memory card slot and then you can use the microSD card freely. Note: The microSD card will installed automatically when the modem driver is installed.
5. Connect this product to your PC (Only available for Modem Mode)
Connect the product and the computer with the provided USB data cable. Plug the smaller end of the cable into the connection jack at the rear of the product, and the bigger end into the USB port of the computer. Note: Do not put anything on the top of router. Do not lay routers to overlap each other
2.5 About the (U)SIM Card
Avoid handling the (U)SIM card unnecessarily. Hold the card by the edges to prevent static damage. Keep the (U)SIM card away from electrical and magnetic appliances.
If you cannot get service, make sure that
You are in an area which has network coverage.
You are using the correct (U)SIM card.
3 Modem mode
3.1 Software Installation
The system will automatically detect and recognize the new hardware and display the new icon in the desktop status bar, indicating that the computer and the USB Modem have been connected properly. After a few seconds, there will show the following installation interface if the laptop and desktop PC supports automatic installation.
If the system does not launch installation automatically, you can run the installation program in path of My Computer ZTEMODEM Install.exe. The following installation interface will show how to start installation. And the first screen you see as followng:
Strongly recommend you to exit “Windows” programs, and click “Next”;

Select the folder that you want to install the software, and you can select a different path by pressing “Change”, then click “Next”. The system show the installation progress, wait a minute and the following screen will show up:
Click “Finish” to complete the installation. Note: After software installation, please pull out the modem before restart the
computer to avoid the damage to the modem. If you have problems with installation after the upper operation, please contact the shop or the ZTE.
After the installation, select the “Start Programs” and there will be a “Join Air” program groupwhich includes “Join Air” and “Uninstall”. There will
be a Shortcut icon on the desktop.
3.2 Run the Application Software
After the modem is correctly connected, click the “Start Programs Join Air Join Air” menu on the laptop or desktop PC to run the application
software. Or double click the shortcut icon to run the application software.
After modem initialized, the standby icon appears in the taskbar, the modem can work properly. Double click it to popup the main interface.
3.3 Software Uninstall
Firstly close the application program before the software uninstalls, then click Start Programs Join Air Uninstall” menu on the laptop or desktop PC.
Click “Yes” to confirm uninstall of the software.

Click “Yes” according to the indication, then the system begins to uninstall
programs, and this interface will indicates the progress of uninstall.
When uninstall finish, the „Uninstall Complete” interface will popup. Click

Explanations
The icon indicates the network signal intensity. There are 6 stages from none to the strongest.
The letter “P” means it supports packet-switch (P) service, while letter “C” means it supports circuit switch (C) service. “P” is necessary for Internet connection.
The icon indicates the current network type, i.e. EDGE or GPRS, HSPA service.
Finish” to restart your computer to complete the application software uninstall.
