This manual has instruct ions on how to set up and register your new sensor. For instructions on sen sor settings, see the user’s manual that came with your telephone base.
Before use
Install batteries to the Contact Sensor
NOTES
Use 2 x AAA batter ies. Alkaline batteries are recommended. If yo u use other kind of batteries, the performanc e of the sensor varies. Do not mix old and new bat teries. Do not mix alkaline, stand ard (Carbon-Zinc) or rechargeable ( Ni-Cad, Ni-Mh, etc) bat teries. While you insert th e batteries, make sure the polarities are cor rect. The batteries oper ate properly under the temperature between 0°F (-18°C) and 130°F (55°C).
Press the latch button on th e sensor to open the battery co mpartment case. Insert two AA A alkaline batteries into the battery compar tment.
Add and register a sensor
You need to register your new VC7002A Contact Sensor to your VC7151-102A/VC7151-202A /
VC7151-302A telephone system. To register a Contact Sensor o n VC7151-102A/VC7151-202A/ VC7151-302A telephone system:
1. Press and hold /HANDSET LOCATOR on the telephone base for about 4 seconds until the IN USE light turns on. The telephone base shows Registering... Please wait.
2. Press and hold the pair button ( P) on the Contact Sensor, until the LED light flashes red, to enter the registration mode.
The telephone base shows Contact X* registered and you hear a beep when the registration process completes. The registration process takes about 90 seconds to complete.
*
Contact X refers to the sensor’s name. X refers to the system-as signed number of the sensor.

Replacing a sensor
If you have purchased this new VC700 2A accessory sensor to r eplace an old sensor, follow the instructio ns to deregister your old sensor. VC7151-102A/VC7151-202A / VC7151-302A telephone system ca n support up to 30 sensors.
To replace a sensor, deregister the registered sensor first, and then regi ster this new sensor to the telephone base.
To deregister a sensor on VC7151-102A/ VC7151-202A/VC7151-302A series:
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in use.
2. Enter the code *3373 4# to access the DEREGISTER menu.
3. Scroll to Single sensor, and then press
SELECT.
4. Scroll to the sensor you want to deregister, and then press SELECT.
5. Press YES to confirm the dereg istration.
The telephone base shows Cont act X is deregistered an d you hear a beep when the deregistration process completes.
Check the sensor before use
1. Separate the sensor unit from the magnet unit.
You will receive alerts at your telephone base. Refer to the Installation gu ide or User’s manual of your telephone base for the sensor alerts.
2. Combine the sensor unit with the mag net unit.
Test the sensor signal strength
You can mount the Contact Sensor on a door, window, drawer, cupboard, jewelry box, or any object that opens or cl oses.
Before mounting the sensor, make sure you test if the location you install the sensor is in range from your telephone base.
Use adhesive tape to hold the sensor temporarily in place.
Mount the sensor to a higher position to avoid obstacles or blockages. Depending on surroundings and obstructing factors, like walls or cabinets, the sensor may not transmit to the telephone base properly.
1. Take the sensor unit and magnet unit to the desired mounting loc ation, and use adhesive tape to hold them tem porarily in place at the object and the f rame.
2. Enter the Check signal mode und er the Sensor setup menu at your hand set to test the sensor signal stren gth.
3. Open the door, window, drawer, cupboard, or jewelry box again and check whether a good signal is received at your telephone base.

f No signal or Weak signal message is displayed in Check signal mode, mode, or if you do not receive an aler t when you open the door, move the telephone base c loser to the mounting locatio n or move the sensor closer to the telephone base.
Depending on surro undings and obstructing factors, like walls or ca binets, the sensor may not transmit to the bas e properly.
After testing the sensor si gnal strength, mark the mounting location o n the door, window, drawer, cupboard, or jewelry box and its respective frame. Then, remove the adhe sive tape and proceed to the mou nting process.

1. Attach mounting tape C onto the rectangular area at the rear side of the magnet unit,
2. Stick the magnet unit onto the door.
Mount with tape
You can choose one out of the four spacers with suitable height, a nd then add it to the magnet unit.
1. Push the spacer towards the magnet unit until it securely click s into place.
2. Attach mounting tape C onto the rectangular area at the rear si de of the spacer.
3. Stick the magnet unit onto the door.
Mount the sensor
We recommend you mount the magnet un it on a door, window, drawer, cupboard, or jewelry box, and mount the sens or unit on its respective frame.
You can use the spacers provided if there is a difference in level betwee n the door and the frame. The spacer will help to al ign your sensor to the correct heig ht. You can also use a spacer if the frame is too narr ow or has some decorative molding .
NOTES
You can mount the sensor unit wit h mounting tape first, and then u se screws later if you decide to mount it at th at location for long term. Make sure the mounting s urface is clean. A textured surface or any imp erfections to a smooth surface can keep the mo unting tape from making a strong bond. Align the magnet unit w ith sensor unit when mounting. The distance bet ween the sensor unit and magnet unit must be le ss than 1 cm (0.4 inch).

2. Stick the sensor unit onto the frame.

1. Attach mounting tape A onto the rectangular area at the rear side of the spacer.
2. Stick the spacer onto the frame.

Mount spacer with screws
1. Use a pencil to mark two holes on the desired location on th e frame, with the aid of the two holes on the sp acer of the sensor unit. Then, remove the spac er and drill two holes into the fram e.
2. Align the holes on the spacer with th e holes on the frame. Tighten the l arge screws into the holes to secure th e spacer onto the frame.

3. Press the latch button on the sensor uni t to open the battery co mpartment case from the back cover.
4. Align the holes on the battery compartment back c over with the holes on the mounted spacer.
5. Tighten the small screws into the holes to secure the back cover of the senso r onto the mounted spacer.
6. Push the battery compartm ent case back onto the mounted spacer until it s ecurely clicks into place.
General product care
Taking care of your sensor
Your sensor contains sophisticated electronic parts, so it must be treated with care.
Avoid rough treatment
Place the sensor down gently. Save the original packing materials to protect your sensor if you ever need to ship it.
Avoid water
Your sensor can be damaged if it gets wet. Do not use the sensor outdoors in the rain, or handle it with wet hands. Do not install the sensor near a sink, bathtub or shower.
Electrical storms
Electrical storms can sometimes cause power surges harmful to electronic equipment. For your own safety, take caution when using electrical appliances during storms.
Cleaning your sensor
Your sensor has a durable plastic casing that should retain its luster for many years. Clean it only with a dry non-abrasive cloth. Do not use dampened cloth or cleaning solvents of any kind.
Storage
When you are not going to use the sensor fo r some time, remove the batter y from the sensor. Store the sensor in a cool and dr y place.

The sensor does not work at all.
Make sure two AAA alkaline batteries are installed.
The sensor may be deregistered from the telephone base. Register it back to your telephone base.
The sensor may be out of range. Move the sensor closer to your telephone base.
Important safety instructions

Adult setup is required. Do not use this product near water. For example, do not use it next to a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub or swimming pool, or in a wet basement or shower. Incorrect reassembling can cause electric shock when the product is subsequently used. Periodically exami ne all components for damage. The product is not int ended for use by persons (including chi ldren) with reduced physica l, sensory or menta l capabilities, or lack of experience an d knowledge, unless they have been given super vision or instruction co ncerning use of the applianc e by a person responsi ble for their safety.

this manual. There may be a risk of explosion if a wrong type of battery is used for the sensor unit. Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. Check with local waste management codes for special disposal instructions. Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause burns or injury to the eyes or skin. The electrolyte may be toxic if swallowed. Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to create a short circuit with conductive materials.
