Multitask key
On the Home screen, a short press shows all running apps.• Quick menu: pressing and holding the Multitask key can bring up
a quick menu for settings and managing apps. To enable this, go to Settings > Display > Menu appearance and select

Press to return to the central Home screen. • Use a long press to access "Google Now" and "Voice Search".

Press to go back to the previous menu or screen.

Short press: Lock the screen
Light up the screen
Long press: If your phone is off, this powers it on.
If your phone is on, this brings up the Power option menu: Power off, Restart, Aeroplane mode, and icons for ringing modes.
Volume key
Press to adjust the Volume (in call/media playing mode/ringing • mode)
Press to adjust the ring tone volume in general mode.

Removing or installing the back cover
Inserting or removing the SIM card

You must insert your SIM card to make phone calls. Please power off your phone and remove the battery before inserting or removing the SIM card.
Place the SIM card with the chip facing downwards and slide it into its housing. Make sure that it is correctly inserted. To remove the card, press and slide it out.

Check with your network operator to make sure that your SIM card is 3V or 1.8V
compatible. The old 5 volt cards can no longer be used.

Inserting or removing the battery
Please power off your phone before removing the battery.
Insert and click the battery into place, then close the phone cover.
Unclip the cover, then remove the battery.
Inserting and removing the microSD card
To release the microSD card holder, slide it in the direction of the arrow and lift it. Then insert the microSD card with the golden contact downward. Finally, fold down the microSD holder and slide it in the opposite direction to lock it.
Charging the battery
Connect the battery charger to your phone and mains socket respectively.
Be careful not to force the plug into the socket.
Make sure the battery is correctly inserted before connecting the charger.
The mains socket must be near to the phone and easily accessible (avoid • electric extension cables).
When using your telephone for the first time, charge the battery fully • (approximately 4 hours).
You are advised to fully charge the battery (
). Charging status is indicated by the depth of water on the lock screen. The depth increases as the phone is charged.
To reduce energy wastage, disconnect your charger from the plug
when the battery is fully charged.
To reduce your phone's power consumption switch off Wi-Fi, GPS,
Bluetooth or applications running in the background when not needed. You can also reduce the backlight brightness, and shorten the time before the phone goes into sleep mode.

Sleep mode1.2.4
Press Application tab in home screen and set via Settings > Display > Sleep, choose the time you want to. After a set time, your phone will go into
a sleep mode to save power. You can also press the Power key once to send the phone to sleep mode. To wake your phone from sleep mode, just press the Power key.
Quick boot1.2.5
You can enable a quick boot mode so your phone starts up quicker. Go to
Settings > Quick boot and tap on the checkbox to mark it.
Power on your phone1.2.2
Hold down the Power key until the phone powers on. It will take some seconds before the screen lights up.
If you do not know your PIN code or if you have forgotten it, contact your network operator. Do not leave your PIN code with your telephone. Store this information in a safe place when not in use.
Set up your phone for the first time
The first time you power on the phone, you will be asked to choose following options: language, date & time, Google account, Input method, etc. You can always make changes later using Settings in the main menu

You can skip Google Setup screen in initial set up, and enable via
Settings > Add account.
If you don't have a SIM card inserted you can still connect to a Wi-Fi network from the Power on screen, which will let you sign on to your Google account and use some features.

You can bring all your favourite items (applications, shortcuts, folders and widgets) to your Home screen for quick access. Touch the Home key to switch to the main Home screen.

The Home screen extends on either side of the screen to allow more space for adding applications, shortcuts etc. Slide the Home screen horizontally left and right to get a complete view of the Home screen.
Using the touchscreen1.3.1
Touch
To open an application, touch it with your finger.
Touch and Hold
Touch and hold your finger on the screen for 2 or more seconds. You can touch and hold an application, a widget or a blank area to drag the item or display the corresponding option menus.
Drag
Touch and hold your finger on an item to drag it to another location.
Slide/Swipe
Slide the screen to scroll up and down the applications, images, web pages… You could slide the screen horizontally too.
Flick
Similar to swiping, but flicking makes it move quicker.
Pinch/Spread
Place your finger and thumb on the screen surface and draw them apart or together to scale an element on the screen.
Rotate
Automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning the phone sideways.
To achieve the best response when using the touchscreen, all that is
needed is a gentle touch for both short or long press actions.

Touch and drag down the Status bar to open the Notification panel. Touch and drag up to close it. From the Notification panel, you can open items and other reminders indicated by notification icons or view wireless service information.

Add
You can add shortcuts, widgets or folders to the Home screen by pressing the
key. Touch and hold the item you want to add and then release it. You will
see it in current home screen.
Reposition
Touch and hold the item to be repositioned to activate the Move mode: drag the item to desired position, then release. Hold the icon on the left or right edge of the screen to drag the item to another Home screen page.
Remove
Touch and hold the item to be removed to activate the Move mode: drag the item on top of
, and when the icon turns red release your finger.
Wallpaper customisation
Touch and hold an empty area on the Home screen or press and hold the Multitask key
in the Home screen, then select System settings > Display
> Wallpaper to customise the wallpaper.

The Applications list contains all pre-embedded and newly installed applications.

Press the Volume up/down key to adjust the volume. While in the lowest volume level (Silent mode

), press the Volume up key once – your phone will now be switched to Vibrate mode. Press the Volume down key once in Vibrate mode and it will change to silent mode.

Press the from the Home screen, then touch Settings > Sound, or drag down your notification panel and touch to set ringer, media and phone ringtone volume to your preference.

The onscreen keyboard will be displayed automatically when a program requires you to enter text or numbers.

Adjust the onscreen keyboard orientation
Turn the phone sideways or upright to adjust the onscreen keyboard orientation. You can also adjust it by settings (press the Application tab key in the Home screen, then Settings > Display > Orientation).

Placing a call3.1.1
You can easily make a call using Phone. You can open the Phone menu in two ways:

International call
To dial an international call, touch and hold
to enter “+”, then enter the international country prefix followed by the full phone number and finally touch .
Emergency call
If your phone has network coverage, dial the emergency number and touch to make an emergency call. This works even without a SIM card and without typing the PIN code.
Answering or rejecting a call3.1.2
When you receive an incoming call, slide the green phone icon to answer. Hang up the call by pressing the icon.
When you receive an incoming call, but don’t want to answer, you can reject it by dragging
up to select Messages. The caller is sent directly to your
voicemail box to leave a message.
Calling your voicemail 3.1.3
Your voicemail is provided by your network to avoid missing calls. It works like an answering machine that you can access at any time.
To access your voicemail, touch and hold
on Phone screen.
To set your voicemail number, press
enter Settings > Call settings > Voice
call > Voicemail. If you receive a voicemail, a voicemail icon
appears on the Status bar. Open
the Notification panel, touch New voicemail.

When a call is in progress, press the Menu key to open the call options. Touch Bluetooth to switch between headset and phone. To adjust the volume during a call, press the Volume up/down key.

Touch to hold the current call. Touch this icon again to retrieve the call.
Touch to mute the current call. Touch this icon again to unmute the call.
Touch to activate the speaker during the current call. Touch this icon again to deactivate the speaker.

To avoid accidental screen operation during a call, the screen will automatically lock when the phone is brought up to your ear. When the phone is taken away from your ear the screen will unlock.
Managing multiple calls3.1.5
With this phone you can handle multiple calls at the same time.
Swap calls
When you accept two calls, press the
to open options list, and touch icon . You can now switch between two lines. The current call is put on hold and you have joined in the other call. Touch
to hang up the call on hold.
Conference calls

You can set up a conference call.
a Place a call to the first participant of the conference call.
b Press the Menu key to display the options list, then touch icon

c Enter the phone number of the person you want to add to conference and
touch the
icon. You can also add participants from Contacts, Call log or
Favourites.
d Press the Menu key again, then touch the
icon and choose Merge calls to
start conference call.
e During a conference call, touch Manage to drop a participant or to talk
privately to one of the participants. Touch
to drop the participant from the conference, touch to talk privately to the participant and put the other participants on hold.
f Touch
or press the Power key to end the conference call and
disconnect all callers.

To access your Call settings, press in the Call log screen.
Use Call settings to configure normal phone call settings and other special features. You can also use Call settings to configure the phone so that it can place outgoing calls only to a fixed set of phone numbers.
Voice call
Voicemail service
Opens a dialog where you can select your carrier’s voicemail service or another service.
Voicemail settings
If you are using your carrier’s voicemail service, this opens a dialog where you can enter the phone number to use for listening to and managing your voicemail. You can enter a comma (,) to insert a pause into the number — for example, to add a password after the phone number.
Other settings
Fixed Dialling Numbers
Fixed Dialling Number (FDN) is a service mode of SIM, where outgoing calls are restricted to a set of phone numbers. These numbers are added to the FDN list. The most common practical application of FDN is for parents to restrict the phone numbers to which their children can dial.
For security reasons, you’ll be prompted to enable FDN by entering SIM PIN2 which is usually acquired from your service provider or SIM maker.

Quick responses
Touch Settings > Call settings > Other settings > Quick response.

If you do not want to receive the incoming call, you may drag up the

TTY mode
TTY mode can be used by people who are deaf, have bad hearing or speech impairments.
After connecting the cell phone and TTY machine it connects to a relay service, which converts incoming speech to text for the person using the TTY and converts outgoing text from the TTY machine to a spoken voice for the person on the other end of the conversation.

You can view your call history by touching from the Home screen and then touch
. This will show your Missed calls, Outgoing calls, and Incoming
calls.

You can view detailed information of a call, launch a new call or send message to a contact or number, or add number to Contacts (only available for phone numbers), etc.

People enables quick and easy access to the people you want to reach.
You can view and create contacts on your phone and synchronise these with your Gmail contacts or with other accounts registered on your phone.

To access the People, touch the Application tab on the Home screen, then select People.

Manage the synchronisation settings for different accounts.

Touch the Application tab on the Home screen, select People. You can also select Groups and Favourites to manage your contacts. Press

When finished, touch Done to save.

You can also touch a contact to view details, then touch
to add the contact
to favourites (the star will turn white in color).
To remove a contact from favourites, select Delete on the contact’s option menu.

To edit contact information, touch and hold the contact whose information is to be edited, then touch
and press "Edit". When finished, touch Done.

From the contacts list, you can communicate with your contacts by making a call or exchanging messages.

From the Contacts screen, press the icon to open the contacts list option menu, touch Import/Export, then select SIM card, Phone, Internal storage,
SD card.

You can share a single contact or contacts with others by sending the contact's vCard to them via Bluetooth, MMS, Email, etc.

Displaying contacts3.3.6
You can configure which contacts you want to display in the Contacts list. Press the

or deactivate All contacts/SIM/Phone/Customize by touching it.
Accounts3.3.7
Contacts, data or other information can be synchronised from multiple accounts, depending on the applications installed on your phone.
To add an account, press the
from Contacts list, touch Sync, then touch Auto-sync app data tab; or access it by pressing the icon from the Home screen, touch Settings, then selecting Add account tab.
You are required to select the kind of accounts to add, such as Google, Facebook, etc.
As with other account set-ups you need to enter detailed information, like username, password, etc.
You can remove an account to delete it and all its associated information from the phone.

Google Messaging 4.1
You can create, edit and receive SMS and MMS messages with this mobile phone.
To access this feature, touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then select Messaging.
All messages you receive or send out can only be saved in phone memory. To view messages stored on the SIM card, press the icon in the Messaging screen, then touch Settings > Manage SIM card
messages.

Sending a text message
Enter the mobile phone number of the recipient on the To bar or touch
to
add recipients, then touch the Type to compose bar to enter the text of the message. When finished, touch to send the text message.
An SMS message of more than 160 characters will be charged as several SMS messages. When the total number of characters you have entered is approaching the 160-character limit, a counter will appear on the lower right corner above Send option of the text box to remind you how many characters are allowed to be entered in one message.
Specific letters (like accents) will also increase the size of the SMS, so this may cause multiple SMS messages to be sent to your recipient.
Sending a multimedia message
MMS enables you to send video clips, images, photos, animations, slides and sounds to other compatible phones and e-mail addresses.
An SMS will be converted to MMS automatically when media files (image, video, audio, slides, etc.) are attached or Subject or email addresses added.
To send a multimedia message, enter the recipient's phone number in the To bar, touch Type to compose bar to enter the text of the message. Press the
to open the option menu, touch Add subject to insert a subject, and touch
Attach to attach picture, video, audio or slide. When finished, touch to send the multimedia message.

Open the Gallery application or File manager to select a video as attachment.

Open the Camcorder to record a new video for attaching.

Open the voice message recorder to record a voice message for attaching.
Slideshow
Go to the Edit slide show screen, touch Add slide to create a new slide, then touch currently existing slide to edit it (see following picture). Press the Menu key to get more actions, like setting the slide duration, adding music, etc.
Contact
Open Contacts to attach a vCard of a contact.
Calendar
Open the Calendar to attach an appointment.
Adding a slideshow
Touch to go to previous or next slide.
Touch to preview the current slide.
Touch to edit the title of this slide.

When receiving a message, an icon will appear on the Status bar as notification. Drag down the Status bar to open the Notification panel, touch the new message to open and read it. You can also access the Messaging application and touch the message to open.
Messages are displayed as a conversation.
