1 Product description

1.1 Function and configuration

VEGADIS 174 is a digital indicating instrument for front panel mounting.
It can be connected to all signal conditioning instruments with DISBUS-output. The indication of VEGADIS is a digital 5-digit LC-display with background lightning.
Function
The VEGADIS 174 indicating instrument is used for indication of measuring results.
The measured data are transmitted via a DISBUS-line from one or several signal conditioning instruments to the respective VEGADIS 174.
Configuration
VEGADIS can be connected via a two-wire line to all signal conditioning instruments with DISBUS-output or to a processing system VEGALOG 571.
This two-wire line is used for digital transmission of measuring results (DISBUS), when a VEGALOG is connected also for power supply. Up to 15 signal conditioning instruments with up to 45 VEGADIS 174 can be connected to this two-wire line. VEGADIS 174 receives the measured data of all connected signal conditioning instruments. However it only displays the data of the signal conditioning instrument to the address of which it is adjusted.
CE-conformity
VEGADIS meets with the protective regulations of
EN 61 010 EN 50 081-1 EN 50 082-2
VEGADIS 174 3
EMVG of 9.11.1992 and EG-low voltage regulation 72/23/EWG. The conformity was judged acc. to the following standards:

Danger
Switch off power supply before starting connection work.
Carry out the electrical connection acc. to the following figures.
3.1 External power supply
The external power supply is in any case possible. In case VEGADIS is connected to signal conditioning instruments using a DISBUS without power supply, the VEGADIS must in any case be supplied externally.
With the following signal conditioning instruments VEGADIS 174 must be generally supplied externally (VEGAMET 513, 514, 514 V, 515, 515 V).
VEGADIS 174 can be supplied with 20 … 250 V AC or 20 … 72 V DC.

DISBUS
3.2 Power supply via DISBUS
DISBUS with power supply is available with the following instruments: VEGALOG 571, VEGAMET 509 or VEGAMET 512.
Therefore connect terminals 3 and 5 as well as terminals 4 and 6 each with one line.

adjusted address. If you keep the key pushed, the address and the DIS-number (channel) of VEGADIS are alternately displayed.
Rotating switch VEGAMET ADDR. (1)
With the 16-step rotating switch (VEGAMET ADDR.) you select the respective signal conditioning instrument. The address number must be determined on the respective signal conditioning instrument. VEGADIS 174 reads the data of the signal conditioning instrument, to which it is addressed.

4.2 Operating

VEGADIS 174 is a universal indicating instrument for all signal conditioning instruments, providing a DISBUS-signal.
Proceed as follows to adjust both values:
• Select with the black rotating switch VEGAMET ADDR. (1) the address number of the requested signal conditioning instrument.
• Select with the red rotating switch DIS No. (2) the DIS-number (channel) of the selected signal conditioning instrument. If a processing system VEGALOG is connected, the DIS-number must not be adjusted. The rotating switch (2) is in this case without function.
• Check the correct selection of the signal conditioning instrument by pushing the key ADDR. CHECK (5). The display indicates alternately the address number (e.g. Addr. 1) and the DIS-number (e.g. no. 1).

5 Diagnosis

The following fault signals are displayed on VEGADIS 174. Further fault signals are stated in the operating instruction of the signal conditioning instrument or of VEGALOG.
Fault signal/Error Treatment/Measures E9.10 No data traffic on DISBUS,
DISBUS-communication interfered Check the DISBUS-line (connections,
