1 Introduction
1 Introduction
1.1 Application
The VEGADIS 171 A is a digital remote indicator of measured values. The indication has a 3 1/2-digit LED­display.
The indication instrument is suitable for front panel mounting. The dimensions of the unit are standardized for measuring instrument 96 x 48 mm.
1.2 Configuration
The VEGADIS 171 A consists of:
- plastic housing
- crimper for fastening in the cut-out
- 5-wire terminal socket
- adhesive labels with %, m, cm, ft, kg, t, gal, hl, m (insert pattern as on page 5).

1.3 Function
The analog input signal is converted into a digital signal and is indicated on the 3 1/2-digit LED-display.

3 Mounting
The indication instrument is designed for front panel mounting. The dimensions of the housing correspond to the standard for measuring instruments 96 x 48 mm.
Procedure for installation
• provide panel cut-out
• push VEGADIS 171 A without frame from the front into the front panel cut-out
• push the frame from the back until snap-in
• tighten screws moderately

After installation the signal line and the power supply on the 5-pole (pluggable) terminals on the back of the instrument are connected.

Locking screws
The label %, m, cm, ft, kg, t, gal, hl and m3 are attached.
Push the label:
• loosen the locking screws of the front frame with a small screw driver
• remove front frame
• loosen the window with a small screw driver and remove
• cut the required label and push into the window laterally
• insert window, plug on the front frame and push until the lockings snap-in

5.2 Input signal
The VEGADIS 171 A is standard for input signals 0/4 … 20 mA.
For other input signals the VEGADIS must be modified acc. to the following description:
Input signal 0/1 … 5 V
• remove front pane
• R10 unsolder 100 Ohm
• R10 solder 68 K1 1 %
• R11 unsolder 0 Ohm
• R11 solder 100 K 1 %

5.3 Adjustment of the zero point and the measuring range final value
Example: requested indication 000 … 1000
Input signals 0 … 20 mA; 0 … 5 V; 0 … 10 V
• remove front pane and front frame (see section
"Procedure to insert the label")
• set slide switch for zero point correction in position "0“
• switch on the mains
• feed the measuring signal acc. to version 0 … 20 mA or
0…5V / 10 V
- at 0 mA or 0 V measuring signal, theVEGADIS indicates „000“
- at 20 mA or 5 / 10 V measuring signal, the VEGADIS indicates „1000“
- the indication can be adjusted in the range of "52.0" to "174,0" by means of potentiometer P
• adjust requested decimal point with bridge (see section "adjustment of the decimal point")
Input signals 4 … 20 mA; 1 … 5 V; 2 … 10 V
For the adjustment of the measuring range final value always the current or voltage difference between initial and final value must be provided: at 4 … 20 mA: 20 mA • 4 mA = 16 mA at 1 … 5 V: 5 V – 1 V = 4 V at 2 … 10 V: 10 V – 2 V = 8 V
• remove front pane and front frame (see section "Procedure to insert the label")
• set slide switch for zero point correction in position "0“
• switch on the mains
• acc. to the input signal (difference) provide 16 mA, 4 V or 8 V
• adjust 100.0 by means of the potentiometer P (measuring range final value)
• set slide switch for zero point correction in position "Offset"
• acc. to the input signal feed initial value 4 mA, 1 V or 2V
• adjust 00.0 by means of potentiomter P0 (zero point correction)
• adjust requested decimal point with bridge (see section "adjustment of the decimal point")

Example: requested indication 10.0 … 90.0

• remove front pane and front frame (see section "Procedure to insert the label")
• switch on the mains
• feed the measuring signal acc. to version 20 mA or 5 V / 10 V
• set slide switch for zero point correction in position "0"
• adjust "80.0" by means of the potentiometer P (measuring range final value)
• acc. to the input signal feed initial value 0 V or 0 mA
• set slide switch for zero point correction in position "Offset"
• adjust "10.0" by means of potentiometer P0.
