Important Warranty Information Regarding T elevision Format Viewing
✎
See the warranty car d for more information on warranty terms.
Wide screen format PD P Displays (16:9, the aspect r atio of the screen width t o height) are primarily des igned to view wide screen format full-motion video.
The images displayed on them should primarily be i n the wide screen 16:9 rat io format, or expanded to fill the screen if your model of fers this feature and
the images are c onstantly moving. Displaying s tationary graphics and images on screen, such as the dark sidebars on no expanded stand ard format
television video and programming, should be li mited to no more than 5% of the total television viewing per week.
Additionally, viewin g other stationary images and text such as stock market r eports, video game displays, station logos, web sites or co mputer graphics
and patterns, should be limited as described above fo r all televisions. Displaying stationary images that exceed t he above guidelines can cause uneven
aging of PDP Display s that leave subtle, but perma nent burned-in ghost images in th e PDP picture. T o avoid this, vary the programming and images , and
primarily display fu ll screen moving images, n ot stationary patterns or dark bar s. On PDP models that offe r picture sizing featur es, use these controls to
view differe nt formats as a full screen picture.
Be careful in th e selection and duration of te levision formats used for view ing. Uneven PDP aging as a r esult of format selection and use, as well as burned
in images, are n ot covered by your Samsung limited warranty.

User Instructions
• Screen Image rete ntion
Do not display a sti ll image (such as on a video g ame) on the plasma display pan el for more than several m inutes as it can cause scre en image
retention. This image retention is also kn own as “screen burn”. T o avoid such ima ge retention, refer to page 15 of this manual to r educe the degree of
brightness and contr ast of the screen when dis playing a still image.
• Heat on the top of the P lasma TV
The top side of the product may be hot after l ong periods of use as heat dis sipates from the panel thr ough the vent hole in the u pper part of the
product.
This is normal and d oes not indicate any defect or operation failure of the product.
However , children should be prevented from touching the upper part of the pro duct.
• The product is makin g a “cracking” noise.
A “cracking” noise m ay occur when the product contracts or expands due to a change in the surrounding e nvironment such as tempera ture or
humidity. This is no rmal and not a defect of the u nit.
• Cell Defects
The PDP uses a panel consisting of 2,360,000(HD-le vel) to 6,221,000(FHD-level) p ixels which require sop histicated technology to pr oduce. However ,
there may be a f ew bright or dark pixels on th e screen. These pixels will have no impact on the perform ance of the product.
• Avoid operating the TV at temperatures below 41 °F (5°C)
• A still image displa yed too long may cause permane nt damage to the PDP Panel.
Watching the Plasma TV in 4:3 format for a long period of time may leave traces of borders displaye d on the left, right and cente r of
the screen cause d by the difference of light emission on the scre en. Playing a DVD or a game con sole may cause similar eff ects to
the screen.
Damages caused by th e above effect are not covered by the Warr anty.
• After-images on the Screen.
Displaying still ima ges from Video games and PC for longer than a certain per iod of time may produce par tial after-images.
T o prevent this effe ct, reduce the “brightness” and “contrast” when displayin g still images for a long time .
• Warranty
Warranty doe s not cover any damage caused by image retention.
Burn-in is not cover ed by the warranty.

Advanced Features Network Connection Y ou can set up your TV so that it can access the Internet through your local area network (LAN) using a wired or wireless
connection.
¦ Connecting to a Wired Network
Y ou can attach your TV to your LAN using cable in three ways:
y Y ou can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back of your TV to an external modem using a Cat
5 cable. See the diagram below.
y Y ou can attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN port on the back of your TV to a IP Sharer which is connected
to an external modem. Use a Cat 5 cable for the connection. See the diagram below.
y Depending on how your network is configured, you may be able to attach your TV to your LAN by connecting the LAN
port on the back of your TV directly to a network wall outlet using a Cat 5 cable. See the diagram below. Note that the wall
outlet is attached to a modem or router elsewhere in your house.
If you have a Dynamic Network, you should use an ADSL modem or router that supports Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP). Modems and routers that support DHCP automatically provide the IP address, subnet mask, gateway,
and DNS values your TV needs to access the Internet so you don’t have to enter them manually. Most home networks are
Dynamic Networks.
Some networks require a Static IP address. If your network requir es a Static IP address, you must enter the IP address,
subnet mask, gateway, and DNS values manually on your TV’ s Cable Setup Screen when you set up the network
connection. T o get the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS values, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If
you have a Windows computer, you can also get these values thr ough your computer.
