A proper location helps to ensure that your printer provides you with the long service life for which it is designed. Double-check to make sure that the loc at io n you select has the following characteristics.
• Choose a loca ti on that is well-ventil at ed.
• Make sure there is no chance of ammonia or other organic gasses being generated in the area.
• The power outlet you plan to connect to for power should be nearby and unobstructed.
• Make sure that th e printer is not exposed to direct sunlight.
• Avoid areas in the direct airflow of ai r co nditione rs, hea ters, or vent ilat ors, and areas sub jected to temperat ure and humidity extremes.
• Choose a sturdy, level surface where th e printer will not be exposed to stro ng vi bration.
• Keep the printe r away from any objects that m ight block its heat vents.
• Do not locate the printer near curtain s or othe r combustible objects.

This function is used when your fax is installed with a private network, behind an a uto branch exchange telephone company. It allows you to program an additional automatic local prefix (to
be defined), enabling you to automatically exi t th e company’s telephone network system, but only under certain conditions:
• the company’s internal numbe rs, where a p ref ix is not req uired , must be short numbe rs less
than the minimal size (to be defined),
• the outside nu mbers req uirin g a prefix, must be lon g numb ers greate r or equal t o the mini- mal size (to be defined, for examp le Franc e has 10 numbers).
Programming your fax with the local prefix consists of two st eps:
• defining the minimal size (or equal) of the company’s outside numbers,
• defining t he outgoing local prefix of the company’s telephone network. This prefix wi ll automatically be added as soon as an external number is dial led.
Caution - If y ou define a local pref ix, do not add it to t he numb ers stored in t he directo ry: it
will be dialled with eac h number.

Your F@x™ Internet lets you send and receive documents an d E-mails from subscribers throughout the wor ld vi a t he Internet network. An E-mail is an electronic message sent by the Internet, to an E-mail address (which is a personal Internet mailbox). Access to the Internet is possible thanks to an Internet service provider (ISP). The provider puts at your disposal a server or computer system which allows you to connect to the Internet and your mailbox through your te lephone line.
Before worldwide transmission, you must:
• subscribe to an Interne t service provider (ISP),
• check th at all initialisation parameters correspond to those provided by your ISP ,
• perform the prope r settings, if needed, for the Internet connection.
You may then connect yourself to the Internet via your ISP to send and receive fax-Internet or E-mails. Both operations will be performed during an Int ernet connection.
