Concert Piano
Once a musical instrument generates sound vibrations, it reaches the human ear through various mediating objects, each of which significantly affects the sound. The material and configuration of the instrument, the electric/electronic/magnetic amplifying system, the air and the reverberation of the room all affect the final sound. Sound modeling, the latest DSP technology, "virtually" reconstructs these objects. Roland's breakthrough Composite Object Sound Modeling (COSM)uses the advantages of multiple modeling methods and succeeds in accurately emulating existing sounds, as well as producing sounds that have never before been created.

With organ sounds based on Roland’s acclaimed VK-Series, the VR-760 can sound just like a vintage organ—complete with a range of spectacular COSM
®
amp and rotary speaker models.
The VR-760 includes a stunning collection of acoustic piano sounds, plus newly sampled electric pianos that are so realistic, you’ll swear it’s the real thing.
The Sound and Feel of a Classic
The VR-760 uses the same “Virtual ToneWheel” technology found in the popular VK-8 Combo Organ—complete with COSM Amp and Rotary Speaker Modeling— for the most realistic organ tones imaginable. Three tone wheel types (Vintage 1, Vintage 2 and Clean) accurately simulate the sound of clean gospel organs, gritty rock organs and everything in between.
Of course, the sound itself is only half of the story. That’s why Roland gave the VR-760 a 76-note waterfall keyboard— ideal for the distinctive style of organ playing. Seasoned organists will be right at home with these quick-firing keys, which are perfect for playing solos and glissandos. Nine harmonic bars give you full control over the organ tones, which can be played back with full polyphony.
Plug Into COSM Amp and Rotary Speaker Modeling
Four COSM amp models further enhance the VR-760’s organs, delivering a range of distinctive overdriven amp sounds. The VR-760 can even simulate the effect of a vintage rotary speaker with full control over rotary speed and braking. Get those vintage speaker sounds you want without having to hunt down (or move) the real thing!
Unrivaled Electric Piano Sounds
When it comes to classic Rhodes and other electric pianos, the VR-760 is hard to beat. These newly-sampled electric pianos are quite simply the finest Roland has ever offered. And with new COSM Amp Modeling, you can get those classic “suitcase” and “stage” sounds without need for a speaker cabinet— you won’t believe your ears! Dedicated multi-effects let you add anything from rich-sounding chorus to vintage phasing, tremolo and wah effects to create just the electric piano sound you’re after.
Piano Section
This panel area provides direct control of the VR-760’s piano sounds. Select among various acoustic and electric piano tones, adjust the overall volume, and even set the mic distance and amp modeling parameters. Multi-effects settings can also be made.
Acoustic Pianos That Are Truly “Grand”
The VR-760 boasts some of Roland’s finest acoustic piano sounds ever, just like our professional digital pianos used on stages the world over. Whether you need expressive grand pianos or bright pop pianos engineered to cut through the mix, the VR-760 has you covered. New COSM Mic Modeling gives these piano sounds natural ambience and resonance— just like a miked grand!
An Expandable Synthesizer with Breathtaking Sounds
With its high-quality synthesizer section, the VR-760 gives players access to just about any sound imaginable. So whether you need rich orchestral sounds or a fat synth lead, you won’t have to search long. Just choose from one of several Tone categories—like Strings, Choir/Scat, Brass, Synth Lead, Synth Pad and Bass— and select the sound you need. Two slots for optional SRX-Series expansions let you add up to 128MB of high-quality sounds tailored for specific genres and applications. These sounds can be further enhanced using the dedicated multi-effects processor, which serves up 40 studio-quality algorithms like distortion, flanging, delay and an enhancer.
Reverb Section
This panel section is for making settings to the VR-760’s global reverb effect. Use the button to switch between three reverb types: Room, Hall and Church. Then adjust the effect level using the Depth knob.
Professional Reverb and EQ
With onboard 3-band EQ, the VR-760 lets players tailor their sounds for any live venue. This professional equalizer offers control over the Low, Mid and High frequencies bands—complete with a sweepable mid. Three varieties of reverb (Room, Hall and Church) give the VR-760’s organ, piano and synthesizer sounds just the right amount of ambience.
Innovative New Controllers
The VR-760’s light-sensing D Beam provides realtime control over parameters like octave, glide or rotary speed. And with Active Expression, you can slowly fade in a synth sound while playing an organ tone— or even intensify the sound’s richness and volume— using an optional EV-7 Expression Pedal. And with new V-LINK technology, you can trigger video clips from the VR-760’s keyboard or Registration buttons*. Features like these can only be found in the VR-760.
*Requires Edirol DV-7PR Digital Video Workstation (sold separately) with software version 1.5 or higher.
Master EQ Section
With dedicated knobs for each frequency band (including a sweepable Mid), players can instantly adjust the VR-760’s overall tone without having to dive into Edit menus.
