Introduction
Thank you for buying a RadioShack Remote Control. You
can use your remote to replace a broken or lost remote or
combine the functions of two or more remotes.
This remote control operates the common features of most
(but not all) models and brands of IR (Infrared) controlled
video equipment. This remote may support functions that are
not available on your device. Some functions of your
particular device (such as menu functions) may not be
controlled by this remote. In such cases, use the original
remote control for your device.
Please use this manual to become familiar with your remote,
then install batteries and set up your remote for your
particular device and brand.
Battery Installation
1. Push down on the tab on the back of the remote and lift
off the cover.
2. Install 2 AA batteries (not included, available in your
local RadioShack store) into the battery compartment as
indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked
inside.
3. Replace the cover.
When the remote’s range decreases or it does not operate
properly, replace the batteries. You have 2 minutes to change
the batteries without losing codes you have programmed.
However, do not press any buttons until batteries are
installed. If buttons are pressed without batteries in the
remote, all codes will be lost.
Battery Saver
Your remote automatically times out if the buttons are
pressed more than 30 seconds. This will save your batteries
should your remote get stuck in a place (for example,
between sofa cushions) where the buttons remain pressed.
TV V olume/Mute Punch-Through
The TV Volume/Mute punch-through feature lets you control
the Volume and Mute function of your TV in any mode
programmed to be a VCR, DVD, Cable, or DBS device
without changing to TV mode.
TV/VCR Punch-Through
VCR Punch-through is only available in TV mode and any
mode programmed for Cable, the 6 VCR keys (Play, Pause,
Stop, Record, FF and Rewind) will punch-through to the
device programmed under VCR (in TV mode), or any mode
programmed for Cable.
Button functions
The remote powers on in TV mode.
Power Used to turn selected device on or off.
Setup See Page 3.
Last Goes to last channel viewed.
Vol+/- Used to adjust the volume level.
Mute Used to mute or restore the volume.
CH+/- Used to change to next higher (or lower) channel.
0-9 Used for channel number or numeric entries.
Enter Used to enter channel numbers for some devices.
A-B Operates as TV/Video, TV/VCR, etc., depending on
mode.
+100 Press first, then enter the number for channels
higher than 100.
Menu Used to view your devices menu screen.
Arrows Press Up, Down, Left, Right arrow keys to navigate
on-screen menus.
OK Used to select on-screen menu options.
Exit Used to exit or clear on-screen menus.
Guide Used to view the program guide.
Rew, Play, FF, Pause, Stop, Rec - VCR transport keys.
Note: Some buttons on the remote might have functions that
are labeled differently on the device you are controlling,
depending on the brand and model of your device. For
example, Last may be called RECALL or Previous Channel;
ENTER may be called DISPLAY. Also, this remote can only
operate features that exist on your device. For example, your
device must have Previous Channel capability for the Last
button to operate this feature.
Code Setup
The Setup button is used to set up the remote. You can set up
the remote using the code for your brand of device from the
code list, or search through the library of codes until you
find a code that works for your device.
You can store any kind of code under any mode (except TV).
For example, you can store a VCR code under the DBS key,
or a DVD code under the VCR key, etc. However, you can
only store TV codes under the TV key.
Direct Code Entry
1. Press and hold the Setup button until the red indicator
stays on. Release the Setup button.
2. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR,
etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 3 digit code from the code list.
Note: The red indicator turns off after a valid code entry
and flashes for an invalid code.
4. With your device on, press Channel Up. If the device
responds, no further setup is required.
Note: If some buttons on your device do not operate, try
one of the other codes for your brand.
TV/VCR and TV/DVD Combo units
For some TV/VCR and TV/DVD combo units, you might
need to set up two different buttons to control both parts of
the combo unit. (See “Direct Code Entry.”) For example, set
up a code under the TV button to control the TV part of the
combo unit AND a separate code for the VCR or DVD under
any other button you choose.
Programming with Code Search
1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be
controlled.
2. Press and hold the Setup button until the red indicator
stays on. Release the Setup button.
3. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR,
etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
4. Press the Channel Up button repeatedly (up to 300 times)
until the device to be controlled changes channels. If you
accidentally overshoot the desired code, press the Channel
Down button to backtrack through the library until the
device changes channels. Pressing Channel Up changes
the direction to forward again.
5. Press and release the Enter button to set the code.
If the device does not have a Channel Up button, use Play
(VCR or DVD) or Power instead. If you go all the way
through the code library without finding the correct code the
indicator blinks a few times then goes off.
The Code Search method above assumes that you want to
store VCR codes under the VCR button, DVD codes under
DVD, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under DVD, first
follow the procedure for “Direct Code Entry” on page 3,
trying any DVD code from the code tables (that is, press
DVD in step 2, then enter any VCR code). Then follow the
steps for Code Search above.
Operation
1. Press the mode button for the desired device.
2. Aim the remote at the device.
3. Press POWER to turn on the device.
4. Press other buttons to operate the features of your
device.
Note: The REC button must be pressed twice to record from
your VCR. For some brands of VCRs, you might need to
press the REC button once, then press it again for three
seconds.
Code Identification
1. Press and hold the Setup button until the red indicator
stays
lit. Release the Setup button.
2. Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR,
etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Press and release the Setup button. The indicator light
blinks off.
4. To find the first digit for the code stored under the mode
key you pressed in step 2, press each numeric key from
0-9 in turn. When the indicator blinks off, the number
you pressed is the first digit for the code you are
searching for.
5. Repeat step 4 to find the second and third digits.
(Indicator goes off when third digit is found).
Troubleshooting
Remote does not operate your device.
• Press the mode button of the device you want to control.
• Program the remote with a new code.
• Install new batteries. (You might have to reprogram your
remote after installing new batteries.)
• Remote may not be compatible with your device.
Remote does not operate some features of your device.
• Program remote with a new code.
• Remote may not be able to operate all features of your
device or button names might be different than your
device.
Indicator light blinks after you program a device code.
• Remote did not accept the code.
• Try to program the code again or try a different code.

Introducción

Este control remoto controla las funciones comunes de la
mayoría de los modelos y marcas (no todos) de equipo de video

Instalación de las pilas

economizan las pilas si el control queda atrapado en algún lugar

Cambio directo entre volumen y silencio
de la TV
La característica de cambio directo entre volumen y silencio
de la TV permite controlar las funciones de volumen y silencio
de la TV en cualquier modo programado como dispositivo de VCR
(videograbadora), DVD, cable o DBS (sistema digital de
teledifusión) sin cambiar al modo de TV.
Cambio directo entre TV y VCR
La función de cambio directo de videograbadora (VCR) sólo está
disponible en el modo de TV y en cualquier modo programado
para cable, las teclas de la videograbadora (Play [Reproducir],
Pause [Pausa], Stop [Parar], Record [Grabar], FF [Avance rápido]
y Rewind [Rebobinar]) se cambian directamente al dispositivo
programado en VCR (en el modo de TV), o en cualquier modo
programado para cable.

Con algunas unidades combinadas de TV-VCR y TV-DVD, es
posible que sea necesario configurar dos botones diferentes para
controlar ambas partes de la unidad combinada. (Vea
“Introducción directa de claves”.) Por ejemplo, configure una
clave en el botón TV para controlar la parte de televisión de la
unidad combinada Y ADEMÁS un código separado para la
videograbadora o para la unidad DVD en cualquier otro botón que
escoja.
Programación con búsqueda de claves
1. Encienda manualmente el dispositivo que desee controlar

recorrer en sentido inverso la biblioteca hasta que cambie

se cambia la dirección de nuevo y se pone hacia adelante.
5. Oprima y suelte el botón "Enter" para fijar la clave.
Si el dispositivo no tiene botón "Channel Up", use "Play"
(Reproducir) (para la videograbadora o para el aparato de DVD),
o el botón "Power" (Corriente). Si usted recorre toda la biblioteca
de claves sin encontrar la clave adecuada, el indicador destella
unas pocas veces y se apaga.
En el método de búsqueda de claves descrito arriba se supone
que el usuario desea guardar claves de videograbadora (VCR) en
el botón VCR (videograbadora), claves del aparato de DVD en
el botón DVD, etc. Si desea guardar una clave de videograbadora
en el botón DVD, primero siga el procedimiento descrito en
"Introducción directa de claves" en la página 3, probando
cualquier clave de DVD de las tablas de claves (en otras
palabras, oprima DVD en el paso 2, y después introduzca
cualquier clave de videograbadora). Después siga los pasos para

Funcionamiento

3. Para encender el dispositivo, oprima el botón
POWER [CORRIENTE].
4. Para utilizar las funciones del dispositivo, oprima los
botones correspondientes.
Nota: Para grabar en la videograbadora debe oprimirse dos
veces el botón REC [Grabar]. Con algunas marcas de
videograbadoras podría ser necesario oprimir una vez el botón
REC, y después volver a oprimirlo, esta vez tres segundos.
Identificación de las claves
1. Oprima y no suelte el botón "Setup" hasta que permanezca
encendido el indicador rojo. Suelte el botón "Setup".
2. Oprima y suelte el botón del modo deseado (TV, VCR, etc.). En

4. Para encontrar el primer dígito de la clave guardada en la
tecla del modo que oprimió en el paso 2, oprima cada tecla
numérica del 0 al 9 en orden. Cuando destelle y se apague el
indicador, el número que oprimió es el primer dígito de la
clave que está buscando.
5. Repita el paso 4 para encontrar el segundo y tercer dígitos.
(El indicador se apaga cuando se encuentra el tercer dígito).
Solución de problemas
El control remoto no controla el dispositivo
• Oprima el botón del modo del dispositivo que desea
controlar.
• Programe el control remoto con una nueva clave.
• Instale pilas nuevas en la unidad. (Es posible que necesite
volver a programar el control remoto después de instalarle
las pilas nuevas).
• Es posible que el control remoto no sea compatible con el
dispositivo.
El control remoto no controla algunas funciones del
dispositivo.
• Programe el control remoto con una nueva clave.
• Es posible que el control remoto sea incapaz
de controlar todas las funciones del dispositivo, o que los
nombres de los botones del mismo sean diferentes a los
del dispositivo.
La luz indicadora destella después de programarse la
clave del dispositivo.
• El control remoto no aceptó la clave.
• Trate de programar de nuevo la clave o pruebe una clave diferente.
INFORMACIÓN DE LA FCC PARA USTED
