E8800》Measure against "System Error 2"
Summary
Many reports are received on occurrence of "System Error 2", which takes place when the VR of E8800 malfunctions. This is due to coming-off of the bearing. To prevent this, the countermeasure is as follows:

1. Details: To prevent the bearing from coming off, which is caused by some shock, additional adhesive (epoxy resin) is added as shown below. The adhesive is applied very slightly on the red-lined parts.

2. Repairing:
As for items to be repaired, which cause "System Error 2" by the bearing coming off, replace them with
the modied VR unit, or take the below measure. If the phenomenon is not be improved by this, defects
of the VR unit or gyro-PCB, etc should be considered.
3. Procedure:
Up to the stage of separating the lens unit from camera body, refer to Repair Manual.
  ① Take out 4 screws to remove the 1st lens-group tube unit.

Turn the xed-tube B unit
counterclockwise so that the VR unit can be seen. Then take out 2 screws.

  ③ Lift and open the cover of the VR unit in the direction of the arrow, and remove the spring.

  ④ Then lift and move the VR lens unit in the direction of the arrow, and back the bearing to the normal
position.
    If the bearing came off, check if it isn’t attached on the magnet of the cover.
Note: In case the bearing cannot be found, to avoid the reoccurrence of malfunction, replace
the VR unit.
