VR System — Get ready for rock-steady images

VR System
Inside the lens of the COOLPIX 8800, the Vibration Reduction (VR) System automatically detects and compensates for the small camera movements that cause image blur. The effect is like shooting at shutter speeds up to three stops faster. In addition to clear handheld shots with Normal mode, Active mode provides an even smoother view for shaky conditions such as shooting from a moving vehicle. This means more shooting opportunities and better, sharper images!
CCD image sensor
The Angular Velocity Sensors detect camera movement.
The VR Unit automatically adjusts to camerashake by compensating for image movement on the CCD.
