Disposal of the packing material
Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children. Danger of suffocation.
Rather than just throwing these materials away, please ensure they are offered for recycling.
Disposing of your old appliance
Electrical and electronic appliances often contain materials which, if handled or disposed of incorrectly, could be potentially hazardous to human health and to the environment. They are, however, essential for the correct functioning of your appliance. Please do not therefore dispose of it with your household waste.
Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection / recycling centre and ensure that it presents no danger to children while being stored for disposal.
The plug must be rendered useless and the cable cut off directly behind the appliance to prevent misuse. Take care not to damage the pipework at the back of it before or during transportation to an authorised collection depot. In this way, refrigerant in the pipework and oil in the compressor will be contained, and will not leak out into the environment.

Stainless steel trim with LED lighting for adjustable shelf (FlexiLight)
LED lighting b is located on the stainless steel trim which is supplied with electricity via metal discs (contacts) a. Refrigerator section lighting can be customised to your needs by changing the position of the adjustable shelf.

Care of stainless steel
Each application of the Original Miele
care product for stainless steel forms a durable protective film that is stain and water resistant. It gently removes water marks, fingerprints and other stains for a uniformly shiny surface.
Original Miele all purpose microfibre cloth
Light soiling and fingerprints on stainless steel fronts, control panels and furniture can be easily removed with the microfibre cloth.
The bottle rack can be used to store bottles in the refrigerator section horizontally, thus saving space. The bottle rack can be positioned on different levels within the refrigerator section.

This appliance complies with all relevant local and national safety requirements. Improper use of the appliance can, however, present a risk of both personal injury and material damage.
To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before installation and before using it for the first time. They contain important notes on the installation, safety, operation and care of the appliance. Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety instructions.
Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future owner.
Correct application
This appliance is designed for domestic use and for use in similar
~
environments by guests in hotel or motel rooms, bed & breakfasts and other typical living quarters. This does not include common/shared facilities or commercial facilities within hotels, motels or bed & breakfasts. This appliance is not suitable for outdoor use.
This appliance is intended only for the cool storage of food and
~
drink as well as for storing deep frozen food, freezing fresh food and for preparing ice. Any other usage is at the owner's risk and could be dangerous.

This appliance is not suitable for storing and refrigerating
~
medications, blood plasma, laboratory preparations or similar substances or products. Incorrect use of the appliance may result in damage to or spoiling of the food or drinks being stored. Furthermore, the appliance must not be operated in areas where explosions may occur. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from improper or incorrect use of the appliance.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
~
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning its use by a person responsible for their safety, and are able to recognise the dangers of misuse.
Safety with children
Young children must not be allowed to use this appliance.
~
Older children may only use the appliance when its operation has
~
been clearly explained to them and they are able to use it safely, recognising the dangers of misuse.
Cleaning work may only be carried out by older children under the
~
supervision of an adult.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play
~
with the appliance. Keep small children away from the appliance at all times to avoid the risk of injury.

Danger of suffocation! Children may be able to wrap themselves
~
in packing material or pull it over their heads with the risk of suffocation. Keep children away from any packing material.
Technical safety
The refrigerant circuit has been checked for leaks. This appliance
~
complies with all current local and national safety requirements.
This appliance contains the coolant Isobutane (R600a), a natural
~
gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is flammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase the greenhouse effect. The use of this coolant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the compressor, you might be able to hear the coolant flowing around the system. This is unavoidable, and does not have any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance. Care must be taken during the transportation and setting up of the appliance that no parts of the cooling system are damaged. Leaking refrigerant can damage the eyes. In the event of any damage:
avoid any flames or anything which creates a spark,
switch off at the mains and unplug the appliance,
ventilate the room where the appliance is located for several minutes, and
call Miele.

The more coolant there is in an appliance, the larger the room it
~
should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For every8gofcoolant at least 1 m amount of coolant in the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.
Before connecting the appliance, make sure that the connection
~
data on the data plate (fuse rating, voltage and rated load) match the mains electricity supply. This data must correspond in order to avoid the risk of damage to the appliance. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt.
The electrical safety of this appliance can only be guaranteed
~
when continuity is complete between it and an effective earthing system which complies with local and national safety regulations. It is most important that this basic safety requirement is present and tested regularly and, where there is any doubt, the household wiring system should be inspected by a qualified electrician.

This appliance must not be installed and operated in mobile

installations (e.g. on a ship).
A damaged appliance is dangerous. Check the appliance for any
~
visible damage. Never install or attempt to use a damaged appliance.
For safety reasons, this appliance may only be used when it has
~
been fully installed.
During installation, maintenance and repair work, the appliance
~
must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply. It is only completely isolated from the electricity supply when:
– the mains fuse has been disconnected, or
– the screw-out fuse is removed (in countries where this is
applicable), or
– it is switched off at the wall socket and the plug is withdrawn from
the socket, or it is switched off at the isolator.
Repairs and installation work by unqualified persons could be
~
dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work. Installation, maintenance work and repairs to electrical appliances must only be carried out by a Miele approved service technician.
The manufacturer's warranty will be invalidated if the appliance is
~
not repaired by a Miele approved service technician.
Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele
~
spare parts. The manufacturer can only guarantee the safety of the appliance when Miele replacement parts are used.

Correct use
The appliance is designed for use within a certain climate range
~
(ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. Installing the appliance in a room with too low an ambient temperature, e.g. a garage, can lead to the appliance switching off for longer periods so that it cannot maintain the required temperature.
To ensure proper air flow in and out of the appliance, the air vents
~
must not be covered or blocked in any way. Were the air vents to be blocked, it would increase the electricity consumption and could cause damage to the appliance.
Make sure that any oil, or foods containing oil, do not come into
~
contact with plastic components as this could cause stress cracks.
Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products
~
containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Flammable gas mixtures can be ignited by electrical components. Danger of fire and explosion!
Do not operate any electrical equipment (e.g. an electric ice
~
cream maker) inside the appliance. Danger of sparking and explosion!
Do not store cans or bottles containing carbonated drinks or
~
liquids which could freeze in the freezer. The cans or bottles could explode. Danger of injury and damage to the appliance.

When cooling drinks quickly in the freezer, make sure bottles are
~
not left in for more than one hour. Otherwise they could burst. Danger of injury and damage!
Never handle frozen food or the metal parts of the appliance with
~
wet hands. Your hands may freeze to the frozen food or to the metal. Danger of injury!
Do not take ice cubes out with your bare hands and never place
~
ice cubes or ice lollies in your mouth straight from the freezer. The very low temperature of the frozen ice or lollies can cause frost burn to the lips and tongue. Danger of injury!
Do not refreeze thawed or partially thawed food. Defrosted food
~
should be used up as quickly as possible as food soon loses its nutritional value and goes off. Defrosted food may only be refrozen after it has been cooked.
Food stored for too long may present a risk of food poisoning.
~
Storage times will depend on several factors, including the freshness and quality of the food, as well as the temperature at which it is stored. Follow the instructions given on the food manufacturer's packaging regarding storage conditions and "use by" dates.
Use only Miele Original spare parts. If spare parts or accessories
~
from other manufacturers are used, the warranty will be invalidated, and Miele cannot accept liability.

Cleaning and care
Do not use any oils or grease on the door seal, as these will
~
cause the seal to deteriorate and become porous with time.
Do not use a steam cleaning appliance to clean this appliance.
~
Pressurised steam could reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Do not use sharp edged objects to
~
remove frost and ice,
separate frozen foods.
They will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance.
Never place electric heaters or candles in the appliance to
~
defrost it. These can damage the plastic parts.
Do not use defrosting sprays or de-icers, as they might contain
~
substances which could damage the plastic parts or which could cause a build-up of gases and pose a danger to health.

Transporting the appliance
To avoid damaging the appliance, it must be transported upright
~
in its packaging.
The appliance is very heavy and therefore needs to be
~
transported by at least two people. Danger of injury and damage!
Disposal of your old appliance
Before disposing of an old appliance, first make the door lock
~
unusable. This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives.
Be careful not to damage any part of the pipework whilst awaiting
~
disposal, e.g. by – puncturing the refrigerant channels in the condenser,
– bending any pipework, or
– scratching the surface coating.
Splashes of refrigerant can damage the eyes.

How to save energy
Normal energy consumption
Use Do not change the
arrangement of the drawers and shelves as when delivered.
Only open the door when necessary and for as short a time as possible.
Store food in an organised way.
Take a cooler bag when shopping and load food in the appliance as quickly as possible on your return home.
When food is taken out of the refrigerator, be sure to put it back before it becomes warm.
Allow hot food and drinks to cool down before placing them in the appliance.
Increased energy consumption
Frequent opening of the door for long periods will cause a loss of coldness. The appliance will try to cool down and the running time of the compressor will increase.
Warm food and food brought in from room temperature add heat to the appliance. The appliance will try to cool down and the running time of the compressor will increase.

Store food covered or packaged.
Place frozen food in the refrigerator to defrost.
Do not overfill the appliance to allow air to circulate.
The evaporation or condensation of liquids will cause a loss of coldness in the refrigerator.

Before using for the first time
Packaging material
Remove all packaging material from

the inside of the appliance.
Protective foil
The stainless steel trims and stainless steel panels have a layer of protective foil to prevent scratching during transportation.
Remove this protective foil after the
^
appliance has been installed.
Cleaning and care
Please refer to the relevant instructions in "Cleaning and care".
^ Immediately after pulling the film off,
wipe the stainless steel surfaces with the care product for stainless steel provided.
Important! Each application of the care product for stainless steel forms a durable protective film that is stain and water resistant.
Accessories
Bottle holder
The fins of the bottle holder jut out into the bottle shelf and make bottles more secure when opening and closing the appliance door.
^ Attach the bottle holder to the middle
of the rear edge of the bottle shelf.
– Cool pack
Place the cool pack in the top drawer of the freezer section, directly on top of the food. The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours.
^
Clean the inside of the appliance and the accessories.

Operating the appliance
A light touch of the finger on the sensors is all that is required to operate this appliance.
Each touch of a sensor is confirmed with a keypad tone. The keypad tone can be switched off if you wish (see "Further settings - Audible tones").
Switching on
The mains connection symbol t appears in the display when the appliance is plugged in and switched on at the wall socket.
^ Touch the On/Off sensor.
The mains connection symbol t disappears and the appliance starts to cool.
When the refrigerator door is opened, the interior lighting comes on and the LED lighting on the adjustable shelves becomes brighter until it reaches its maximum brightness.
When the freezer section is switched on for the first time, the sensor for this section and the alarm symbol ; flash until the set temperature is reached.
The sensor lights up constantly and the alarm symbol ; goes out when the temperature set for the freezer section is reached.
To enable the temperature to get sufficiently cold inside the appliance, allow the appliance to run for a few hours before placing food in it. Do not place food in the freezer section until the temperature is at least -18 °C.
The sensors for cooling zones that can be selected appear in the control panel:
Refrigerator section
The refrigerator section sensor is highlighted yellow and the current temperature in this section appears in the display.

Switching the appliance on and off
Individual settings can be set for each cooling zone.
Touch the sensor for the zone in
^
which you want to adjust the settings.
The selected sensor lights up yellow.
The SuperCool function can be selected or the temperature can be adjusted for the refrigerator section.
The SuperFreeze function can be selected or the temperature can be adjusted for the freezer section.
Please refer to the relevant section of this booklet for more information.
If another cooling zone is selected, the settings for the previously selected zone will remain as they were.
Switching off
Touch the On/Off sensor.
^
If this is not possible, the safety lock is active.
The temperature display disappears and the mains connection symbol t lights up.
The interior lighting goes out and the cooling is switched off.
Switching off the refrigerator section separately
The refrigerator section can be switched off without having to switch off the freezer section. This is useful, e.g. whilst on holiday.
^
Touch and hold the refrigerator section sensor until the sensor is no longer highlighted.
Dashes will temporarily appear in the display.

Switching the refrigerator section back on again
The refrigerator section can be switched on separately.
Touch the sensor for the refrigerator
^
section until it lights up yellow again.
The temperature display for the refrigerator section lights up. The refrigerator section starts to cool and the interior lighting comes on when the door is opened.
Switching off the appliance in Sabbath mode
The appliance can be switched off directly at any time.
^
Touch the On/Off sensor.
Switching off for longer periods of time
If the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. whilst on holiday:
switch the appliance off,
^
switch off at the wall and withdraw
^
the plug from the socket, or disconnect the mains fuse or remove the screw-out fuse in countries where this is applicable,
If you are not using the appliance (or refrigerator section if it has been switched off separately) for a long time,
^ clean the appliance/refrigerator
section, and
^ leave the appliance doors/refrigerator
door slightly ajar to avoid the build-up of odours.
If, during a long absence, the appliance/refrigerator section is switched off but not cleaned out and the doors are left shut, there is a danger of mould and odours building up inside the appliance.
The temperature display disappears and the mains connection symbol t lights up.
The interior lighting goes out and the cooling is switched off.
When the appliance is switched back on again, Sabbath mode is deactivated.

The correct temperature
It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Micro-organisms will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these micro-organisms. Reducing the temperature reduces their growth rate.
The temperature in the appliance will rise:
the more often the door is opened
and the longer it is kept open,
– the more food that is stored in it,
– the warmer the food is which is being
put into it,
– the higher the ambient temperature
surrounding the appliance. The appliance is designed for use within specific ambient temperatures (climate range). Do not use in ambient temperatures for which it is not designed.
...intherefrigerator section
We recommend a temperature of 4°C in the refrigerator section.
...inthefreezer section
To freeze fresh food and to store frozen food for a long time, a temperature of
-18 °C is required. At this temperature the growth of micro-organisms is generally halted. As soon as the temperature rises above -10 °C, the micro-organisms become active in the food again so that it cannot be kept as long. For this reason, partially defrosted or fully defrosted food must not be refrozen. Food may be refrozen once it has been cooked, as the high temperatures achieved when cooking destroy most micro-organisms.

The correct temperature
Temperature display
In normal operation the temperature display shows the current mean
refrigerator section temperature and the temperature in the warmest part of the freezer section.
Dashes are displayed if the temperature in the freezer section is not within the displayable range.
Depending on the room temperature and the temperature setting, it can take several hours until the selected temperature is reached and displayed steadily.
However, if the temperature in the freezer section remains above
-18 °C for a long time, check that the frozen food has not started to defrost. If it has, check that the food is safe to use and if it is, then use it as soon as possible.
Setting the temperature
The temperatures for the refrigerator section and the freezer section are set separately.
Select the refrigerator or the freezer

section.
^ Use both sensors underneath the
display to set the temperature.

While the temperature is being set, the temperature value will flash.

The correct temperature
When you tap the sensors, you will see the following changes in the display:
When first tapped: The last
temperature selected flashes.
Each subsequent touch of a sensor:
The temperature is adjusted in 1 °C steps.
Leaving a finger on the sensor: The
temperature changes continuously.
Approximately 5 seconds after you release the sensor, the actual temperature in the appliance will be displayed.
or
^ Touch OK to confirm your selection.
When you have adjusted the temperature, wait for approx. 6 hours
if the appliance is not very full and for approx. 24 hours if the appliance is full before checking the temperature
display, as it will take this long for the appliance to reach the temperature.
Temperature range
The temperature can be adjusted:
in the refrigerator section from 1 °C
to9°C
in the freezer section from -15° C to
-26° C.
If, after this time, the temperature is still too high or too low, you will need to adjust it again.

Using SuperCool and SuperFreeze
SuperCool
The SuperCool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator section to its lowest setting (depending on the room temperature).
Switching on SuperCool
SuperCool is particularly recommended for the fast chilling of large amounts of fresh food or drink.
^ Touch the sensor for the refrigerator
section.
The refrigerator section symbol will light up yellow.
Switching off SuperCool
The SuperCool function switches off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The refrigerator section then operates with normal cooling performance.
To save energy, the SuperCool function can be switched off once food and drinks are sufficiently chilled.
^ Touch the sensor for the refrigerator
section.
The refrigerator section symbol will light up yellow.
^
Touch the SuperCool sensor so that it is highlighted in yellow.
The temperature in the refrigerator section now begins to fall, with maximum cooling performance.

Touch the SuperCool sensor so that it is no longer highlighted in yellow.
The appliance will continue to operate at normal power.

Using SuperCool and SuperFreeze
SuperFreeze
Switch the SuperFreeze function on before putting fresh food into the freezer.
This helps food to freeze quickly and retain its nutrients, vitamins, flavours and appearance.
Exceptions:
When putting in food that is already
frozen.

Switching off SuperFreeze
The SuperFreeze function switches off automatically after approx. 30 - 65 hours. The duration until the SuperFreeze function is switched off depends on the amount of fresh food which has been placed in the freezer section. The SuperFreeze ª symbol goes out and the freezer section operates with normal cooling performance.
To save energy, the SuperFreeze function can be switched off once a constant temperature of -18 °C or colder has been reached in the freezer section. Keep an eye on the temperature as it falls.

Your appliance has been fitted with a warning system which ensures that the temperature in the freezer section cannot rise unnoticed and to avoid energy being wasted if a door is left open.
Temperature alarm
If the freezer section temperature becomes too warm, the temperature for the freezer section flashes and the alarm symbol ; in the display will flash simultaneously. An alarm will also sound.
When the alarm is triggered depends on the selected temperature.
Audible and visual signals will be activated, for example,
– when the appliance is switched on
and the temperature in a temperature zone differs greatly from the set temperature,
– when too much warm air flows into
the appliance such as when food is being rearranged or taken out of the freezer section,
Temperature and door alarm
However, if the temperature in the freezer section remains above
-18 °C for a long time, check that the frozen food has not started to defrost. If it has, check that the food is safe to use and if it is, then use it as soon as possible or cook it before freezing it again.
Switching the alarm off early
If the noise of the alarm disturbs you, you can switch the alarm off early if you wish.

The sound of the alarm will stop. The freezer section sensor and the ; symbol will flash in the display until the freezer section returns to the set temperature.

Door alarm
An alarm will sound if a door is left open for too long. The alarm symbol ; will light up.
The time until the door alarm is triggered depends on the selected setting and can be either 2 minutes (factory default) or 4 minutes. The door alarm can also be switched off (see "Further settings - Audible tones").
As soon as the door is closed, the audible tone will stop and the alarm symbol ; will disappear from the display.
If no audible tone sounds even though a door alarm is available, then the audible tone has been switched off in settings mode (see "Further settings - Audible tones").

Using the refrigerator efficiently
Different storage zones
Due to the natural circulation of the air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the different zones when placing food in the appliance.
This appliance has automatic DynamicCooling, which helps to keep an even temperature when the fan is running. When DynamicCooling is switched on, the difference between the various zones is less pronounced.
Warmest area
The warmest area is in the top section of the door. Use this for storing butter and cheese.
Coldest area
The coldest area in the refrigerator is directly above the fruit and vegetable drawers.
Use this for all delicate and highly perishable food, e.g.:
fish, meat, poultry,
– sausage products, ready meals,
– dishes or baked goods containing
eggs or cream,
– fresh dough, cake mixtures, pizza or
quiche dough,
– soft cheese and other dairy
products,
– pre-packed vegetables and other
fresh food with a label stating it should be kept at a temperature of approx. 4 °C.

Using the refrigerator efficiently
Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Danger of explosion!
Do not store cooking oil in the refrigerator door. Traces of oil can cause stress cracks to occur in the plastic components in the door.
Food must not touch the back wall of the refrigerator, as it may freeze to the back wall.
To allow air to circulate efficiently, do not pack food too closely together in the refrigerator.
Do not cover the fan in the rear wall of the refrigerator, as this is essential for keeping the appliance cool.
Food which should not be stored in a refrigerator
Not all food is suitable for refrigeration at temperatures below 5 °C. Depending on the type of food, storing in a refrigerator for too long can alter the appearance, consistency, taste and/or vitamin content of food.
Foods which should not be stored in a refrigerator include:
Pineapples, avocados, bananas,
pomegranates, mangoes, melons, papayas, passionfruit, citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, mandarines, grapefruits
– Fruit which is not yet ripe
– Eggplants, cucumbers, potatoes,
capiscum, tomatoes, zucchini
– Some hard cheeses, e.g. parmesan

Using the refrigerator efficiently
When shopping for food
The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the refrigerator. Also pay attention to the expiry date and the correct storage temperature for each type of food. Time out of the refrigerator, e.g. during transportation, should be kept to a minimum. For example, do not allow food to stay in a hot car for too long. Once food has started to deteriorate, this process cannot be reversed. Tip: Take a cooler bag when shopping and place cold food in the refrigerator and/or freezer immediately on your arrival home.
Storing food correctly
Food should generally be stored covered or wrapped. This will prevent food smells from affecting other foods, food from drying out, and also any cross-contamination of bacteria. This is especially important for storing animal products. The shelf life of food can be significantly increased by setting the correct temperature and maintaining good standards of hygiene.
Fruit and vegetables
Fruit and vegetables may be stored loose in the vegetable drawers.
Protein rich foods
Please note that foods rich in protein deteriorate faster than others. Shellfish, for example, deteriorates faster than fish, and fish deteriorates faster than meat.

The bottle holder can be moved left or right, thus creating more room for drink cartons.
The bottle holder can be removed completely, e.g. for cleaning.

Lift up the bottle shelf and pull it towards you to remove it.
Adjustable shelf / Adjustable shelf with lighting
The LED lighting is located on the stainless steel trim of the adjustable shelf. By adjusting the position of the shelf in the refrigerator section, you can change the illumination in this section according to your needs.
If the lighting does not work, check that the shelf is correctly positioned in the shelf supports: The adjustable shelf has metal discs (contacts) on the front left corner to enable electricity to be supplied to the LED lighting. When inserting the shelf, ensure the contacts click into position in the shelf support.
Moving the adjustable shelf / adjustable shelf with lighting
The shelves can be adjusted according to the height of the food.

Detach the bottle holder from the back edge of the bottle shelf.
^
Raise the shelf, and pull it forwards slightly until the notch at the side is in line with the shelf support. It can then be raised or lowered to the required level.
The raised edge at the back must face upwards to prevent food from touching the back of the appliance and freezing to it.

The fruit and vegetable drawer sits on telescopic runners and can be removed for the purposes of loading and unloading, or cleaning.
Pull out the drawer as far as it will go,

and then lift it up and out.
Push the runners back in again to avoid injury or damage.

Freezing and storing food
Maximum freezing capacity
To ensure that fresh food placed in the freezer freezes through to the core as quickly as possible, the maximum freezing capacity must not be exceeded. The maximum freezing capacity for freezing within a 24-hour period is given on the data plate:
"Freezing capacity ....kg/24 hrs".
The maximum freezing capacity given on the data plate has been calculated according to DIN EN ISO 15502 Stan dard.

Freezing fresh food
Fresh food should be frozen as quickly as possible. This way the nutritional value of the food, its vitamin content, appearance and taste are not impaired.
Food which takes a long time to freeze will lose more water from its cells, which then shrink. During the defrosting process, only some of this water is reabsorbed by the cells; the rest collects around the food.
Storing frozen food
When buying frozen food to store in your freezer section, check
that the packaging is not damaged,
the use-by date,
the temperature at which the frozen
food is being stored in the shop. The length of time it can be kept is reduced if it has been stored at a temperature warmer than -18 °C.
Buy frozen food once you have
^
finished the rest of your shopping, and wrap it in newspaper or use a cool bag or cool box to transport it.
^ Place it in the freezer as soon as
possible.
Never refreeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be refrozen after it has been cooked.
If food is frozen quickly, the cells have less time to lose moisture, so they shrink less. As there is not so much moisture loss, it is easier for the food to reabsorb it during the defrosting process, and very little water collects around the defrosted food.

Home freezing
Only freeze fresh food which is in a good condition.
Tips on home freezing
The following types of food are
suitable for freezing: Fresh meat, poultry, game, fish, vegetables, herbs, fresh fruit, dairy products, pastry, leftovers, egg yolks, egg whites and a range of pre-cooked meals.
The following types of food are not
suitable for freezing: Grapes, lettuce, radishes, sour cream, mayonnaise, eggs in their shells, onions, whole raw apples and pears.
– To retain colour, taste, aroma and
vitamin C, vegetables should be blanched after they have been trimmed and washed. To blanch: bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, immerse the vegetables in the fast boiling water for2-3 minutes, depending on variety. Remove, and plunge into ice-cold water to cool quickly. Drain and pack ready for freezing.
Lean meat freezes better than fatty meat, and can be stored for considerably longer.
To prevent chops, steaks, cutlets or rolled meat from freezing together in solid blocks when packed, separate with a sheet of plastic freezer film.
Do not season fresh foods or
blanched vegetables before freezing. Only season cooked food lightly before freezing, but care should be taken as the taste of some spices alters when frozen.
Do not place hot foods or drinks in
the freezer. This causes already frozen food to thaw, and increases the energy consumption considerably. Allow hot foods and drinks to cool down before placing them in the freezer.

When removing the upper freezer drawers, please note: The bottom drawer must always remain in the appliance. When placing food in the drawers, make sure that you do not block the ventilation slits in the back wall of the appliance. They are important for trouble-free operation of the appliance and normal energy consumption.
Placing food in the freezer
The following maximum loading weights must not be exceeded: – Freezer drawer = 25 kg – Glass plate = 35 kg
Unfrozen food should not touch frozen food as this will cause frozen food to begin to thaw.

Defrosting
Frozen food can be defrosted in different ways:
in a microwave oven,
in an oven using the "Fan" or
"Defrost" setting,
at room temperature,
in the refrigerator (the cold given off
by the frozen food helps to keep the other food cold),
in a steam oven.
Flat pieces of partially thawed meat or fish can be placed directly into a hot frying pan.
Thicker pieces of meat and fish (e.g. minced beef, chicken, fish fillet) should not come into contact with other food when defrosting. Collect the defrosting liquid and then pour it away, making sure you wash the container it was in, the sink and your hands.
Fruit should be defrosted at room temperature in its packaging, or in a covered bowl.
Making ice cubes
Fill the ice cube tray three quarters
^
full of water and place it on the bottom of a freezer drawer.
If the ice cube tray freezes to the
^
floor of the drawer, use a dull object (e.g. a spoon handle) to loosen it.
^ The ice cubes can be easily
loosened by holding the tray briefly under running water.
Cooling drinks quickly
When cooling drinks quickly in the freezer, make sure bottles are not left in for more than one hour; otherwise they could burst, causing injury and damage.
Most vegetables can be cooked while still frozen. Just put straight into boiling water or hot fat. The cooking time is slightly less than that of fresh vegetables due to changes in the cell structure.

Cool pack
The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer rising too quickly in the event of a power cut, thus extending the time for which food can be stored without power to the appliance.
Place the cool pack in the top drawer

The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours.
In the event of a power cut:
^ Place the cool pack directly on top of
the frozen food in the front of the top drawer so that the food will be kept cold for as long as possible.
When placing fresh food in the freezer, use the cool pack to separate the fresh food from the food which is already frozen so that the frozen food does not begin to thaw.

The cool pack can also be used in a cool bag to keep food or drinks cool for a short period of time.

Defrosting
Refrigerator section
The refrigerator section defrosts automatically.
Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the refrigerator section whilst in use. You do not need to remove this, as it will defrost and evaporate automatically with the warmth generated by the appliance.
The condensate is drained away through a channel and drain hole, then fed into an evaporation system at the back of the appliance.
It is important to keep the condensate channel and drain hole clean and free of blockages so that the condensate can flow away properly.
Freezer section
This freezer is equipped with a "NoFrost" system. The freezer defrosts automatically.
The moisture generated by defrosting collects in the condenser and is automatically dissipated by the condenser from time to time.
This automatic defrosting system

enables the freezer to remain permanently ice-free. Food stored in the freezer will not defrost.

Do not let water get into the electronic unit or the lighting, or on the metal discs (contacts) in the left-hand shelf support.
Cleaning and care

Cleaning water must not get into the drain hole.
Do not use a steam cleaning apparatus to clean the appliance. Steam could reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit.
The data plate located inside the appliance must not be removed. It contains information which is required in the event of a service call.
Cleaning agents
To avoid damaging the surfaces of your appliance, do not use:
cleaning agents containing soda, ammonia, acids or chlorides,
cleaning agents containing descaling agents,
To clean stainless steel surfaces on the appliance, use the Original Miele care product for stainless steel (see Guide to the appliance - Optional accessories"). This product contains substances that are gentle to stainless steel surfaces and, unlike stainless steel cleaners, it does not contain polishing agents. Soiling is gently removed and each time the Original Miele Care product for stainless steel is used, it forms a protective film against dirt and water.
We recommend using lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid to clean surfaces of the appliance.

Important! Always loosen the side without the contacts (metal discs) for the LED lighting first.

1. Remove the plastic edging from the adjustable shelf, and 2. Remove the strip at the same time. The opposite side will now also be detached.

Clean the appliance at least once a month.
Remove any soiling immediately - do not allow it to dry on.
Clean the interior with lukewarm

water and a little washing-up liquid applied with a soft sponge. After cleaning, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and then dry with a soft cloth.

To prevent cold from escaping, avoid opening the appliance doors until the fault has been corrected.

Electrical connection
All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations.
The appliance is supplied with a mains cable and moulded plug ready for connection to an AC single phase 220 – 240 V 50 Hz supply.
The fuse rating must be at least 10 A.
The voltage and frequency are given on the data plate. Please ensure that these match the household mains supply. Connection should be made via a suitable switched socket which is easily accessible. For extra safety it is advisable to install a suitable residual current device (RCD).
The accessibility of the plug must always be ensured in order to be able to quickly separate the appliance from the mains.
If the mains socket is not accessible after the appliance has been built in, a separator for each terminal must be available. There must be an all-pole contact gap of 3 mm in the switch.
Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead or a plug adapter. Extension leads do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating).
Do not connect the appliance to an inverter such as those used with an autonomous energy source e.g. Solar power. When switched on, peak loads in the system can cause the safety switch off mechanism to be triggered. This can damage the electronic unit.
The machine must not be used with so-called energy-saving devices either. These reduce the amount of energy supplied to the machine, causing it to overheat.
If the mains connection cable needs to be replaced, this must only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
WARNING THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
The plug and mains connection cable must not come into contact with the back of the appliance as vibrations can cause damage to these components. This, in turn, could result in a short circuit.

Location
This appliance should be installed in a dry, well-ventilated room. It should not be installed where it is exposed to direct sunlight or directly adjacent to a heat-producing appliance such as an oven or a radiator. The room temperature should not go above or below the climate range for which the appliance is designed. The higher the ambient temperature of the room, the more energy the appliance requires to operate.
Please note the following when installing the appliance:
The mains connection socket must not be located directly behind the appliance and must be easily accessible.
The plug and mains connection cable must not come into contact with the rear of the appliance as they may be damaged by vibrations from the appliance.

Ventilation
The ventilation gaps given must be adhered to, otherwise the compressor will be activated more frequently and for longer periods. This will result in increased energy consumption and a higher operating temperature for the compressor. This may, in turn, cause the compressor to be damaged.
Air at the back of the appliance gets warm. The appliance housing unit must therefore be constructed to allow sufficient space for ventilation (see "Building-in dimensions").
The ventilation cross-sections in the
plinth, housing unit and above the appliance must amount to at least 200 cm
2
to ensure that air can
circulate without hindrance.
The larger the ventilation
cross-sections, the more energy efficient the appliance operates.
The air inlet and outlet must not be covered or blocked in any way. They should be dusted on a regular basis.

Open the appliance door and remove

– The bags (depending on model)
located inside the metal grille (heat exchanger). These are important for the correct functioning of the appliance. Their contents are non-toxic and are not dangerous.

Adjusting the door hinges
The door hinges are set at the factory to enable the door to be opened wide.
If the opening angle of the door needs to be limited for any reason, the hinge can be adjusted to accommodate this.
However, if the appliance door hits
an adjacent wall when opened, for example, the opening angle can be limited to 90°.

To further secure the appliance in the housing unit, slide the support strips supplied in between the floor of the housing unit and the bottom of the appliance:
^ First attach the key v to one of the
support strips w.
^ Slide the support strip into the guide
channel as far as it will go. Remove the key, attach it to the other support strip and slide this in underneath the appliance.
Important! Keep the key in case you want to install the appliance at another location at a later date.

Close the appliance doors.

Installation
Fitting the furniture doors
The furniture door must be a minimum of 16 mm thick and a maximum of 19 mm thick.
The following dimensions for gaps must be adhered to:
The gap between the furniture door
and the kitchen unit door above must be at least 3 mm.
Fitting a door which is heavier than the maximum permitted could damage the hinges, which could in turn affect the functioning of the appliance.
Before fitting furniture doors, ensure that the weight of the door does not exceed the maximum permitted:
The vertical gap between the
furniture doors should generally be 3 mm. The exact value is dependent upon the radius of the edge of the furniture door.
If the appliance is being built into a run of units, the height of the furniture door should be aligned with adjacent kitchen units.
The furniture door must be mounted plane and free of tension.

Carry out the following steps on both doors.
^ The distance between the appliance
door and the fixing bracket is set to 8 mm at the factory. Check this distance and adjust if necessary.

Tip: Push up the fittings aids b with the
furniture front until they are the same height as the doors of adjacent kitchen units.
^ Push the fitting aids b up to the
height of the furniture door: the lower edge X of the fitting aids must be at the same height as the upper edge of the furniture door being fitted (see ­in diagram).
^
Undo the nuts c and take the fixing bracket d off together with the fitting aids b.

Place the furniture door with the outer

side downwards on a stable surface.
^ Using a pencil, lightly mark a line
down the centre of the inside of the furniture door e.
Fit the side cover q to the fixing
^
bracket on the opposite side of the hinge.
^ Turn the furniture door over and
attach the handle (if needed).
^ Hang the fixing bracket d with the
fitting aids onto the inside of the furniture door. Align the fixing bracket centrally.
^
^
Pull the fitting aids upwards to remove them g. Turn them around and fit them into the middle slots on the fixing bracket for safe keeping.

Open the appliance door.

^ Hang the furniture door onto the
adjusting bolts h.
^ Loosely attach the nuts c on the
adjusting bolts.
^
Close the door and check the distance between the door and neighbouring furniture doors. The distance should be the same.

– Adjustment to the sides (X).
^ Move the furniture door.
– Height adjustment (Y)

Turn the adjusting bolts h using a screwdriver.
The distance between the appliance door and the fixing bracket is set to 8 mm at the factory. Adjust this distance only within the dimensions given in the diagram.

^ Whilst counterholding the adjusting
bolts h with a screwdriver, tighten the nuts c on the appliance doors with the ring spanner j.
^ The cover strip k must be
completely hidden in the niche, and must not protrude.
^ Drill fixing holes l in the furniture
doors and screw in the screws m. Make sure the two metal edges are aligned (Symbol II).
^ Close both doors.

Loosen the screws i at the top of the appliance door and the screw n on the lower fixing bracket. Move the furniture door to create a gap of 2 mm between the furniture door and the housing unit.

Tighten all screws again.

^ Fit the top cover o, and click it into
place.
To make sure the appliance is correctly installed:
The doors must close properly.
The doors must not touch the
housing unit.
The seals at the top edge of the
handle side must fit properly.
To double check, place a torch in the

appliance and close the doors. Switch the lights off in the room. If you can see any light shining out from the sides, double check the installation.
