An audio system is only as good as its signal source and the McIntosh
Tuner/CD Controller utilizes the best quality automotive transport
mechanisms and both analog and digital circuitry. The tuner section is
unsurpassed in its sonic performance and both the digital and analog
stages represent the highest order of design sophistication.

The McIntosh CD Changer is a prime example of the McIntosh philosophy.
Behind the front panel is a heavy aluminum chassis which helps to eliminate
extraneous noise that may be encountered in the automotive environment.
A Digital/Analog Converter with a 24 bit digital signal processor provides
the ultimate performance from compact discs.

The total performance in an audio system must depend upon the individual
performance of each of its components. McIntosh believes that a thoroughly
engineered, correctly interfaced component system provides a synergy that
is difficult to approximate with a mix and match approach.

The MX406 is a reference control center, pro­viding traditional volume and balance functions
as well as full changer controls. The MX406
brings the instant look of class, as well as
familiar touches like the rotary volume
control and analog bass/treble controls.

The MCD4000 6-Disc CD Changer features fiber optic
digital output to the MX406, a heavy aluminum chassis
for rigidity and a low-vibration suspension system that
insures smooth and uninterrupted CD playback.

The MDA5000 built-in HDCD®Circuitry
with 8x over sampling provides the ultimate
performance from CD’s. Sound reproduction is
sonically transparent and absolutely accurate.

The McIntosh MPM4000 Power Output Meter allows you to see the actual power
output from the McIntosh Power Amplifier even though it is mounted elsewhere in the
car. The direct reading wattage meters are calibrated to read from 1/100th of a watt up
to 200 watts all packaged in a din chassis that mounts perfectly under the MX406.
