(550–700rpm).Atspeedsabovelowidle,andwithoutaPTOengaged,idle 
timewillbelimitedtoveminutes,afterwhichtheenginewillrevertbacktolow 
idle.VehiclesequippedwithaCleanIdleengineareidentiedbyalabelwhich

TheMACKStandardVehicleWarrantyappliestotheairbrakesystem,as

resultinthetrailerbeingimproperlyconnected.Afterthetrailerhasbeencoupled 
andthetrailerlandinggearhasbeenraised,makesurethatthe5thwheeljaws 
haveproperlyengagedthetrailerkingpin,andthereisnogapbetweenthe5th 
wheelplateandthebottomofthetrailer .
CAUTION
DUMPBODY:Alwaysexhausttheairfromthebagsbeforeraisingthedump 
bodytoprotecttheairbagsandimprovechassisstabilitywhiledumping.Ifthe 
dumpbodyisraisedwhiletheairsuspensionispressurized,damagetotheair 
bagsmayresult.
CAUTION
Donotdrivethevehiclewiththeairbagsexhausted.Repressurizetheairbags 
beforedrivingthevehicle.
Note: Enginespeedandroadspeedwillautomaticallybelimitedifthevehicleis 
movedwiththeairbagsexhausted.

oftherockerswitch,theheavymud/snowfunctionA TCindicatorlampblinks 
continuously.TheATClampstopsblinkingwhentheATCmodeswitchis 
pressedagainorignitionkeycycled.
CAUTION
Besuretodeactivatetheheavymud/snowfunctionwhennolongerneeded. 
Continuedwiththeheavymud/snowfunctionactivewillresultinvehicledamage. 
Ifafterareasonableamountoftime(nomorethanveminutes)thevehicleisstill 
notpassive,deactivatetheATCandputonchains.
•BodyWarningLamp–TheBodyLampilluminatesaREDwarningicon  
onthe"D"paneltoalertthedriverofabodyfunctionasdenedbythe 
bodybuilder.Asanexample,thebodywarninglampwillilluminatetoalertthe

•DaytimeRunningLights(DRL)OverrideSwitch–DaytimeRunning  
Lights(DRL)comestandardonallMACKvehiclesandcanbeoptioned 
withorwithoutanoverrideswitch.WhentheDRLoverrideswitchhas 
beenspecied,differentconditionscanbeselectedthatcausetheDRLto 
automaticallyactivate,DRLcanbeautomaticallyturnedonwhentheparking 
brakeisreleased,theengineisrunningorboth.Onlyoneofthesechoices 
maybeselected.UsingDRLwillilluminatethelowbeamheadlampbulbsat 
aslightlyreducedintensity.TheDRLfunctionwillmonitorhighbeamsas 
well.Ifthehighbeamsareactivated,theDRLwillbetemporarilyturnedoff 
untilhighbeamuseceases.

headlightsonatalltimesmakesthevehicleeasiertospotinbadweather, 
duskorshadeorwhenthereisglare.DRLofferstheabilityfordriverstogive 
acourtesyashasasignalwhenitissafetomergeintoanotherlaneonthe 
highway.TurningDRLofftemporarilyforslowlyrollingthroughweighstations 
orwhenwaitinginlinetoreceivebillandweighingticketsisconvenient. 
WhentheoperatorpressestheDRLoverrideswitch,theheadlampswillgoout
elowtheDRLspeedthresholdandashifabovetheDRLspeedthreshold
ifb 
foradesignatedperiodoftime(customerprogrammableinVCADS).Itisalso 
possibletotoggletheheadlampsbackonifnecessary.
•EngineBrakeSwitch–Usedtoactivatetheenginebrake.Refertothe 
sectioninthishandbookformoreinformation.
•FanControlManualOverrideSwitch–Allowstheoperatortomanually 
controltheenginecoolingfan.
•5thWheelSlideSwitch–Locksandreleasesasliding5thwheelusingair 
pressure;thisallowsthe5thwheeltobeproperlypositioned.Theindicator 
lampwillilluminatewhenthe5thwheelisunlocked.Priortomodelyear2001, 
itwasnecessarytousethetrailerHandBrakeControlLevertoactivatethe
