Refined visual drama with a sculptured elegance, designed in accordance with the Jaguar values of purity, simplicity and consistency. The XJ is the world’s most beautiful sporting sedan. Efficient and aerodynamic. It makes a statement of dynamism with a low, wide stance, a taut waistline and muscular wheel arches. Striking features such as the standard panoramic roof and the cat’s claw rear light cluster add stunning touches.

Environmental responsibility and the optimization of performance. A lightweight aluminum body together with aerospace construction techniques give high strength, better acceleration and fuel economy as well as lower emissions compared to steel bodied alternatives. The XJ is between 300 and 600 lbs lighter than some of its competitors and has near perfect weight distribution of 51:49, front and rear, for superb handling.

Technology enhances tradition inside the XJ. The clean lines of the interior mean less clutter, while the highest quality materials are tactile, rich and carefully selected to stimulate the senses. From the flagship 5.0 Liter V8 Supercharged 510 HP engine to the 5.0 Liter V8 Supercharged 470 HP and 5.0 Liter V8 naturally aspirated 385 HP engines, every XJ engine delivers a powerful driving experience.

A more responsive, more involving drive. The XJ assists the driver in all conditions. Adaptive Dynamics continually varies damping by calculating the appropriate suspension response 500 times a second helping to keep the car flat and stable to improve control and handling without loss of comfort. Ready for anything and to deal with the unexpected, safety systems are designed to be anticipatory and utilize an array of technological features.

More than 10 years ago Jaguar formulated a strategy for building more efficient cars from aluminum. The all-aluminum structure of the XJ is the result. Recycled metal makes up as much as 50 percent of the body, saving approximately 3 tons of CO2 compared to using 100 percent primary aluminum.

From CoNCePt to realItY. The aesthetic beauty of the streamlined body of the XJ was a prime consideration in its

creation. Before a single part of the car became a physical reality, the XJ was reviewed virtually in one of the world’s most advanced three dimensional virtual reality suites. Every component was painstakingly modeled in over 43,000 separate simulations. Intent on creating the most luxurious and comfortable Jaguar model ever, the designers could sit in, test, and alter every part of the XJ assuring ergonomic and aesthetic perfection far beyond the scope of traditional drawn car design. Only then was the XJ prototype constructed. In a computerized testing chamber simulating some of the roughest and most harsh driving environments in the world, the XJ was paced through three million miles of virtual testing.

With an almost perfect weight distribution of 51:49 between the front and rear of the car, the Jaguar XJ is poised, ready to deliver superb handling. This is one of the many benefits of the Lightweight Vehicle Architecture body construction and, with the company’s focus on environmental responsibility, is the very core of Jaguar engineering and design philosophy.

Lightweight Vehicle Architecture means an all-new lightweight aluminum body structure that uses the state-of-the-art aerospace construction techniques of bonding and riveting. It also means fusion alloy technology, magnesium, high-strength aluminum and one-piece door assemblies and that the XJ is between 300 and 600 lbs lighter than some of its competitors. Less weight reduces the mass that requires acceleration and results in better fuel economy and lower emissions.

Using timeless materials, the XJ offers an array of tactile pleasures. Settling into the glove-soft leather, surrounded by the stylish curved sweep of the warm wood veneer, the luxurious interior has been fashioned to delight the senses. Classic materials are combined with modern styling to create a contemporary elegance, from the interior surfaces wrapped in leather to the jet-engine inspired air vents and the minimalist controls detailed in glinting chrome.

Even before the wheels are in motion, simply starting the XJ is a moving experience. The soft light behind the start button pulses invitingly. Lightly press it and the flush aluminum JaguarDrive SelectorTM rises up out of the center console as the dashboard bathes the cabin with a cool phosphor blue. The virtual instrument panel emerges behind the steering wheel, and the distant sound of the engine gently purrs.

No detail is too small for the attention to absolute luxury the Jaguar provides. Every inch of the interior of the XJ demonstrates the car’s peerless refinement. Supple hand-stitched leathers are fitted throughout, their seams finely crafted to a minimum tolerance. The overhead consoles are carefully fashioned to produce a waterfall of light cascading down the center of the cabin to spotlight the control features without disturbing the driver’s nighttime vision. Even the analog clock is constructed to echo the classic design of an aviator’s wristwatch.

In the XJ, the seat leather is carefully molded to provide optimum comfort during longer journeys and reflect the car’s elegant tailored character. A Virtual Instrument Panel replaces the conventional dashboard cluster with a clear 12.3-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) screen displaying a selection of gauges that appear as solid three-dimensional instruments. With beautiful surrounds that change color to reflect the selected driving mode, the screen will automatically vary the display to advise the driver of the most relevant information, whether it is Navigation instructions or its current fuel range.

A single HD 8-inch Touch-screen in the center console displays navigation information as well as controls the physical cabin of the XJ. The system is designed to ideally complement the design philosophy of Jaguar - simple and intuitive. Beyond the buttons and for hands-free convenience, Interactive VoiceTM control and “say what you see” commands offer control of audio, navigation and even the Touch-screen.

To experience the rear seats in an XJ is to enjoy unparalleled comfort and peace on the move. All XJ models come with heated rear seats - and the Portfolio, Supercharged and Supersport models come standard with both heated and cooled rear seats. For those who need a bit more, the Long Wheelbase versions offer no less than 44 inches of legroom and include four-zone climate control, side window blinds and reading lamps.

With the Rear Seat Entertainment package (standard on Supersport and optional on all other models), the rear cabin is also furnished with dual 8-inch LCD screens mounted in the driver and passenger headrests. A sleek Touch-screen, menu-driven remote control, which stows neatly in the rear center armrest, allows each rear seat passenger to individually select content. Together with a center console-mounted DVD player and rear media interface, passengers can view their choice of media on rear screens while listening through wireless Whitefire® headphones.
