GOAL ZERO YETI HOME INTEGRATION KIT (HIK) FAQ
Q: What do I get when I purchase the HIK?
Q: What Yeti Portable Power Station do you recommend to use with the HIK?
Q: How long will the HIK system run my lights?
A: You’ll receive the Reliance Manual Transfer Switch panel, as well as the Yeti Extension cable (10’). You will
also need to purchase a Goal Zero Yeti Portable Power Station to complete the home backup setup.
A: We suggest using a Yeti 1000 or above; however, the Yeti 3000 Lithium provides a great blend of power
output and runtime. The HIK also works with the original lead-acid Yeti 1250 Portable Power Station.
A: Just like estimating runtimes from the Yetis themselves, runtimes with the HIK system are dependent on
what you’re powering (lights vs. fridge) and what Yeti Portable Power Station you’re using. For example, a
100W light would run for approximately 14 hours from a Yeti 1400 Lithium (1400Wh/100W=14h).
HOW IT WORKS DURING A POWER OUTAGE
Once the Transfer Switch has been installed and the Goal Zero Yeti is
plugged in using the provided extension cable, powering the circuits in
your home is as easy as flipping a switch. Best of all, there are no fumes,
noise, or messy gasoline to hassle with.
When power is restored, simply move the switches on the Transfer Switch
from GEN to LINE and turn off the Yeti AC port by pressing and holding the
AC button for approximately three seconds. There is no need to unplug the
Yeti from the Transfer Switch when not in use.
1.
Press the AC button on the Yeti to turn it on. Know it’s on when the light
on the button glows green.
2.
On the Transfer Switch, select the circuits to be powered by the Yeti by
moving individual switches from the LINE to GEN position.
3. Your selected circuits are now live.
