Circuit Breakers and Modules

General
These instructions apply to the following catalog numbers:
• Circuit breaker mo dules AMC6 JK, AMC4J K, ACM3 JK
and AMC2JK
• Circuit breaker frames TJK, TJD, TJJ, THJK, TJ4V,
THJ4V, and, TJL4V.

Installation
1. Phase balancing for two-pole devices in three-phase
systems. To balance the panelboard load, remove the
screws on the appropriate bus clip, reposition the bus
clip as shown in Figure 1, then install and tighten the
screws to 27–32 in-lb.

3. Install the module. Latch one side of the circuit
breaker module. Release the rail latch. Pivot the
module onto the bus bars and engage the second
latch. Release the rail latch. Tighten the rail latch
screws to 25 in-lb as shown in Figure 3.

2. Prepare the breaker module. Loosen the latch lock
screws and fully retract the rail latches. Line up the
guide fingers on both ends of the module with the
notches in th e panelboard interi or rails, as shown in
Figure 2.

4. Install the circuit breaker on the module.
a. For main devices (lugs only on
breaker). Place the
OFF side of the circuit breaker
ON side of circuit
over the stud posts, as shown in Figure 4, with the
formed barriers on the module underneath the
breaker. Secure the breaker to the module with
round-head screws and lock washers tightened to
35–50 in.-lb. and to the stud posts with nut-washer
assemblies tightened to 80–110 in-lb.

c. For double-mounted branch circuit breakers. Place
the
ON side of each circuit breaker over the stud
posts, as shown in Figure 6, with the formed barriers
on the modul e to the outside of the bre akers. Secu re
the load ends with round-head screws and lock
washers tightened to 35–50 in.-lb. Place the straps
across the line terminals of opposing breakers and
secure with nut-washer assemblies tightened to 80–
110 in-lb.
Combinations of TJK, TJD, TJJ, and THJK breakers
may be used and combinations of TJ4V, THJ4V, and
TJL4V breakers may be used.

b. For center-mounted branch circuit breakers (lugs on
OFF side of breaker). Place the ON side of the circuit
breaker over the stud posts, as shown in Figure 5,
with the form ed barriers on the module u nderneath
the breaker. Secure the breaker to the module with
round-head screws and lock washers tightened to 35–
50 in.-lb. and to the stud posts with nut-washer
assemblies tightened to 80–110 in-lb.

d. For one circuit breaker m ounted on a doubl e-branch
module. Place the
ON side of the circuit breaker over
the stud posts, as shown in Figure 7, with the formed
barriers on the module to the outside of the breaker.
Secure the load end with round-head screws and lock
washers tightened to 35–50 in.-lb. Place one spacer
over each of the unused stud posts. Place one strap
across each breaker line terminal and the opposite
spacer and secure with nut-washer assemblies
tightened to 80–110 in-lb.
