THE BASICS
Correctly type each letter of the word(s) that appear in your enemy's word box.
You will defeat your enemy when you have finished typing in the word.
NOTE
You do NOT have to worry about using capitals when typing, nor do you have to insert ‘spaces’ between words. However, you do have to type the various punctuation marks that might appear (e.g. brackets, commas, apostrophes etc.).
TARGETING
If there are several opponents on the screen at any one time, the first opponent that you attack will correspond to the first letter that you type.
The word box of the opponent that you are presently attacking will display cursors in its four corners (Targeting).
In this situation, type P to start attacking the left opponent and M to attack the right one.
CHANGING TARGETING
Press the Escape key to change targets. The letters that you have typed so far will be deleted and you will be able to select a new opponent to attack (by typing the first letter in its word box).
This is a good technique to master if you are typing a long word and another opponent suddenly starts to attack you.
Note that if you have defeated an opponent you do not have to press Escape, targeting will automatically switch.

ORIGINAL MODE
This mode is basically the same as ARCADE MODE, with two key additions: items that you can use freely and collectable coins that can only be acquired should you fulfil a chapter's conditions.
You will have to think strategically and use your items wisely to succeed in ORIGINAL MODE!
USING ITEMS
Break barrels, etc. to acquire items. A letter will be briefly displayed above the barrel etc. Type this quickly to obtain the item.
There are two types of items.
1) Items that will be stocked in the item box
2) Items that won't be stocked, but will be immediately useable.
The items in the item box will be stocked from left to right, starting with "F1". Press F1-F4 whenever you wish to use a stocked item.
ACQUIRING COINS
There are five types of conditions for you to fulfil in every chapter. Your objectives are:
• Clear the chapter
• Get a high points score (exact score depends on the chapter)
• Get a high accuracy score (exact score depends on the chapter)
• Get a high number of ‘Rank As’ with your typing
• Clear the chapter without using any ‘continues’
You will be rewarded with a coin for each condition you fulfil. You will be given a bonus item if you collect a lot of coins.
TUTORIAL MODE
Take lectures and learn the basics of typing in this mode. We advise newcomers and those of you who haven't yet learned how to touch-type to select this first to avoid becoming easy zombie victims in ‘THE TYPING OF THE DEAD’. Train hard and the rest of the modes will seem a lot easier.
