Make sure the DIR-508L is charged* or plugged in before using.

Slide the mode switch up to On. Allow

one minute for the device to boot up.
From your device’s wireless utility, connect to the DIR-508L.

The default network name (SSID) is DIR508L with no password.
Note: If you are connecting directly to a broadband modem and are using either PPPoE or a static IP connection, click or press Settings > Internet Proles and create a new prole with your Internet connection type. A dynamic connection (e.g., Cable) will connect automatically without conguration.

Open a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) and go to http://dlinkrouter.local./ (or http://192.168.0.1).
At the login screen, click or press

the Log in button (no password).
Click or press the ! icon to select a wireless network (HotSpot

Mode). You may instead connect an Ethernet cable from an Internet source such as a broadband modem to the Internet port (see note below).
If you are not using an Ethernet connection, a list of available

wireless networks will appear. Highlight the network and click or press Select. If the network you are connecting to is secure, you will be prompted to enter the password.
Once you connect, the Home page will display a green check

mark. Your device is now connected to the Internet.
You may now connect other wireless devices to your DIR-508L and share the Internet connection. You can also share les by connecting a USB thumb drive to the router.
Troubleshooting
How do I connect my wireless devices to the DIR-508L router?
1. Open your wireless network utility that displays available wireless networks.
2. Select the Wi-Fi Network name (DIR508L by default) and connect.
You can also connect using WPS:
1. Press the WPS button on the DIR-508L for one second.
2. Within one minute press the WPS button on your wireless device.
3. Allow up to two minutes to connect.
Note: Some devices may require you to log in to a utility to start
the WPS process. Refer to the user manual of the device you want to connect to the router if you do not know how to start the WPS process.
How do I change the wireless settings on the DIR-508L router?
1. Open a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) and go to http://dlinkrouter.local. (or 192.168.0.1).
2. At the login screen, click or press the Log in button (no password by default).
3. Click or press DIR-508L or click or press Settings > Wi-Fi Settings.
4. Enter a new wireless name and password. Click or press Advanced Settings for more options.
5. Click or press Save.
Note: if you have changed the Wi-Fi Network name, the device you
are currently using to connect to the DIR-508L will drop. You will need to open your wireless utility and connect to the DIR-508L using the new network name.
What if I forgot my router password?
1. If you forgot your router password or want to reset the DIR-508L back to the default settings, press and hold the reset button using a paper clip and release after ve seconds.
Warning: This process will erase all your settings.
