2) Modification to cope with the malfunctions that were reported from the market place.
Symptom: 1) By improving the Software the unit is conformable to HDMI Ver.
1.1, both the image and the sound can be digitally transmitted even though upon playing a disc to which the Protection of copyrights (CPPM) has been applied. In the above case, both devices to be connected each other via the HDMI have to be conformable to the HDMI. If the other device to be connected was HDMI Ver.
1.0, only the Image signal is outputted from the HDMI (including DVI-D) terminal.
2) When digitally recording a CD-DA on a MD, there is a case that the Track number is not automatically incremented when switching a Track.
3) When playing back a DVD Audio (J. S. BACH: Works for Flute), the sound interruption occurs at G1, T1, 0:03:38.
4) Both the image and the sound are not outputted when a REPEATER appliance (AV Amplifier, etc.) was connected to the above unit via the HDMI/DVI terminal.
REPEATER Appliance is a device that distributes signals from the HDMI/DVI terminal, and AV Amplifier, etc., are corresponding. The unit operates properly when the unit was connected one to one to an appliance such as Projector or TV, etc.
5) When the unit was connected to the Plasma Display (PDP) appliance (PD­42X795, etc.) manufactured by JVC via the HDMI/DVI terminal, the screen remained Green when the Power of the PDP was turned on, and there is a case that the image and the sound is not outputted.

Solution: The malfunctions occurred due to bugs in the ESS Software. The
Software has been corrected. Record the upgrade files onto two blank CD-R discs separately, and upgrade your customer's unit upon claim.
• Program files that have been supplied:
6) For DVD-2910 and 955: Ver.6720-5, (B08),D21zsavd.cfw
7) For DVD-3910: Ver.6609-6, (B08),D31zsavd.cfw
• When recording the file(s) on the CD-R, the Format shall be "ISO9660, MODE 1", and the Session shall be "CLOSE".
• Modification Procedures:
8) Connect a TV to the Image Output Terminal of the VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT on the unit.
9) Turn on the Power of the unit. Open the Loader and set the CD-R for upgrading to the Loader.
10) Press "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
11) The FL Display indicates "LOADING", and the Loader opens automatically when the rewriting completed. Take out the Disc from the Loader. During the rewriting operation, "ERASE" and "WRITE" are indicated repeatedly for about one minute, and "DONE" appears finally.
12) Turn off the Power of the unit once. While holding the "PLAY" and "OPEN/CLOSE" buttons down simultaneously, turn on the Power of the unit. Press numeral buttons of "3", "2", "6" and "5" on the Remote Control, when the ">||" mark was indicated on the FL Display. The following Version appears every time the "MENU" button on the Remote Control is pressed. Confirm the Version.
• For the DVD-2910 and 955: "ESS6720-5, MAKE DAY B08
• For the DVD-3910: "ESS6609-6, MAKE DAY B08
Caution during the rewriting operation:
• Do not turn off the Power of the unit during the rewriting operation.
• When recording the program file for updating on a CD-R, please record it at the 4-times speed of the normal speed. If the 4 times speed was not available, please record it at the minimum speed that is select-able in your machine. If the program file was recorded at a high speed, such as 32 or 48 times speed of the normal speed, the updating may fail due to the data incorrectly recorded on the CD-R.
• If the Power was turned off during the rewriting operation, on GU-3612 in DVD-2910/955 (00GEN6720-5), IC104 on GU-3618 in DVD-3910 (00GEN6609-6) Flash IC may be required. (refer to OST-867)
• During the rewriting operation, if the FL Display stops while it is indicating "LOADING" without turning into "DONE", please wait for more than two minutes after closing the Loader and turn off the units Power. Then, start the rewriting operation from the beginning again.
