Subject: Countermeasure for malfunctions that occur when operations are
performed during playback of particular CD/DVD/SACD Video Discs.
Symptom: Regarding CD/DVD/SACD media in the market, rarely, there are
discs whose centroid (center of gravity) is one-sided greatly, and there is a case that the unit generates mechanical or vibration noise when reproducing these particular discs. We will reduce the rotation speed of the disc as follows to suppress the noise:
Solution:
MODIFICATION: (Upon refurbishment of the unit and/or claim) Please record the file on a blank CD-R separately and individually, and update the firmware in the Back-end on your customer's unit upon refurbishment of the unit and/or claim.
Caution:
• When recording the file(s) on a blank CD-R, the format shall be "ISO9660" and the session shall be "CLOSE".
• When recording the program file on the CD-R, please record it at the 4-times speed of the normal speed.
• When the 4-times speed is not available, please record it at the minimum speed that is available in your machine.

Cautions:
In the case of model DVD-3910/5910, the contents of the program files differ though their names are the same. Therefore, please do not apply the program file for the 3rd Edition DENON Link to the unit that is equipped with the 2nd Edition, and the program file for the 2nd Edition of DENON Link to the unit equipped with the 3rd Edition. If you rewrote the unit by mistakes, rewrite the unit again by means of the correct program file.
• How to identify the unit to which the 2nd or 3rd Edition of DENON Link has been applied: Please confirm the version of the DENON Link at the SETUP of the unit according to the following procedures.
1) Switch the Power of the unit on, and press the "SETUP" button so that the SETUP OSD is displayed.
2) Adjust the cursor to the item of DENON Link in the DIGITAL INTERFACE SETUP.
3) If the items of the DENON Link are "OFF" and "2nd" only, the unit is conforming to the 2nd Edition of the DENON Link. If the items are "OFF", "2nd" and "3rd", then the unit is conforming to the 3rd Edition.

Update Procedures:
SYSTEM MICON
1) Updating the System MICON on the DVD-3910 (DVD-3910 only): (a.) Connect the Video Output Terminal (VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT) of the unit to a TV. (b.) Switch the Power of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the Disc Tray. (c.) Put the CD-R (Ver.6767-5) for rewriting the System MICON on the Disc Tray and press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
• The Disc Tray closes and the update of the software is performed automatically.
• After indicating "LOADING" on the FL Display, the Power of the unit is turned off once, and is turned on again.
• After "WRITING" is indicated on the FL Display, "COMPLETE" is indicated. (d.) After the indication of the "COMPLETE", the Disc Tray opens automatically upon completion of the rewriting operation. Take out the Disc from the Disc Tray. (e.) Turn the Power switch of the unit off once.
2) Updating the System MICON on the DVD-5910 (DVD-5910 only): (a.) Connect the Video Output Terminal (VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT) of the unit to a TV. (b.) Switch the Power of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the Disc Tray. (c.) Put the CD-R (Ver.6867-2) for rewriting the System MICON on the Disc Tray and press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
• The Disc Tray closes and the update of the software is performed automatically.
• After indicating "LOADING" on the FL Display, the Power of the unit is turned off once, and is turned on again.
• After "WRITING" is indicated on the FL Display, "COMPLETE" is indicated. (d.) After the indication of the "COMPLETE", the Disc Tray opens automatically upon completion of the rewriting operation. Take out the Disc from the Disc Tray. (e.) Turn the Power switch of the unit off once.
IEEE 1394 ROM
3) Updating the IEEE1394 ROM, (DVD-3910 only): (a.) Connect the Video Output Terminal (VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT) of the unit to a TV. (b.) Turn on the Power switch of the unit. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the Disc Tray. (c.) Set the CD-R (Ver.ER1028 [20041028]) for rewriting the IEEE1394 to the Disc Tray, and press "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
