Handling Precautions
1. This camera is not resistant to water, and shouid not be used outdoors if it is raining or snowing. If it is accidentaliy dropped in water, contact an authorized Canon service faciiity. Keep the camera out of salt
spray and excessive humidity. If used at the beach, clean it thoroughiy afterward with a dry cioth.
2. Store the camera in a cool, dry, dust-free place. Be sure to keep the camera out of direct suniight, and away from “hot spots” such as the trunk or rear window sheif of a car. Avoid piaces where mothballs are used, and use a desiccant in excessive humidity,
3. Do not attempt to disassembie the camera yourseif, since there is high-voltage circuitry inside.
4. The battery may explode or cause burns if disassembied, recharged, shorted, exposed to high temperatures, or disposed of in a fire.
5. Use a blower brush to remove dust and sand from the lens and inside the camera. Do not appiy any fiuids to the iens or body. Take the camera to an authorized Canon service facility for a more thorough cleaning it necessary.
6. Fiim passing through X-ray examinations at an airport may be exposed and ruined even when ioaded in the camera. Request a different method of inspection to avoid damage.
7. Color reproduction may be adversely affected if the fiim is ieft in the camera for a iong time. Always develop exposed film promptly.

Advanced Photo System Quick Reference

Simple film cartridge loading. 16)

• Unlike previous 135 (35mm) film, there is no need to

open the back cover and pull the film leader across.

A choice of print types 19)

^ You can choose from three print types,
• C print: Classic print
• H print: Wide-angle print
• P print: Panorama print

A variety of data (IX information) is recorded magnetically on the film surface.

• All the information described at left can be recorded on the film
• The exposure information is used in the printing process to produce better quality prints.
Exposed film cartridges can be processed for
I printing at Advanced Photo System certified

^ After developing, the shop will return your pictures,
along with an index print, and the film cartridge with the film inside.
• When ordering reprints from a certified shop, just match the ID on the back of the print or on the index print sheet with the ID on the film cartridge, and specify which prints you want

Quick Reference

• Check that the visual exposure indicator on the film cartridge shows O (unexposed)

Attaching the strap.

• To ensure that you do not drop your camera, attach the strap provided.
• Thread the strap through the strap mount as shown in steps

Holding the Camera

To avoid obscuring the image with your fingers and to ensure a ciear sharp image, take care to
keep your hands, hair and the camera strap away
from the areas marked with a • beiow.

• Light-metering sensor
• AF emitter
Hold the camera as shown below when taking pictures.
Dust or soiling on the AF emitter/sensor or lens causes focusing difficulties. Wipe soiled areas clean before taking pictures.

Applicable Battery: One CR2 lithium battery

Open the battery cover.

• Press down on the <l op^'OQO and slide the cover oft.

Load the new battery.

• Ensure that the + and -
terminals are positioned
correctly.

• Slide the cover back into place.

Loading the Film Cartridge

Open the film cartridge compartment cover.

• Turn the crank until the compartment cover opens.

Load the film cartridge.

• Check that the visual exposure indicator on the
film cartridge shows
O (unexposed).
• Load the cartridge with the
visual exposure indicator facing upwards.

Close the film cartridge compartment cover.

• Press the film cartridge compartment cover closed until it clicks into place

• Use 1X240 cartridge film.
• You cannot use conventional 135 (35mm) film in this camera.
