Overview
Emerge MPX extenders broadcast high defi nition
computer graphics or video, audio and control
data from a source device to multiple receivers.
1
Preparation
Place your MPX transmitter, access points,
and receivers at least 3 feet apart on a stable
work surface and attach the antennas. If your
installation includes access points or receivers
that will have a wired IP connection, connect
the L2 LAN port of the transmitter to the L1 LAN
port on each access point or receiver. Attach
the transmitter and access points to their power
supplies and appropriate power sources and
wait for transmitter initialization to complete: the
2 green LEDs will alternate and other LEDs will
turn off.
2
Transmitter Confi guration
Connect a browser client to the transmitter’s L1
LAN connector and launch a browser session
using the IP address 192.168.1.1 with a subnet
mask of 255.255.255.0.
• At the login prompt, leave the username
blank and enter Admin (case sensitive) as the
password.
• When prompted, select the appropriate
country code.
• Select the Source Device Settings page
and confi gure the input video mode for the
transmitter.

HD Access Point Confi guration
(optional)
In the Active Receivers list (lower left of the
transmitter’s web page), click the MAC address
of the fi rst access point to access its web
interface. Apply the appropriate country code.
When the connection resumes, select the

4
Explicit Bindings - Optional
Apply power to your receivers. Wait for them
to initialize and bind to the transmitter: the two
green LEDs cease to alternate.
• Select the transmitter/access point’s Bindings
page and verify that all active receivers are
listed (by MAC address) in the Detected
Receivers list.
• Select the Add to Confi gured Receivers
checkbox next to each receiver then apply the
changes.
• Assign one unit as the Primary receiver for
exchange of IR, serial, and EDID data and
apply the change.
• If all receivers are bound, you may disable the
transmitter/access point from automatically
binding additional receivers.

Receiver Confi guration
In the Active Receivers list (lower left of the
transmitter/access point’s web page), click on
the MAC address of the fi rst active receiver to
access its web interface.
• Select the Display Device Settings page
to confi gure the output video mode of the
receiver.
- Plug-and-Play (default) - allows the receiver
to auto-detect DVI-D, HDMI and RGB
display devices if valid EDID information
can be read from the display via the DDC
channel; and component video displays
using Avocent component adapter cables.
- Manual (Component) - third-party
component video cables
- Manual (RGB) - non Plug-and-Play RGB
displays.
• Select the System Settings page and enter a
name for the receiver.
To confi gure the receiver to ignore all but the

Media LAN Settings- Optional
• For applications requiring only one receiver,
optimal performance can be achieved by
selecting 1-to-1 in Topology Confi guration
on the Media LAN Settings page of the
transmitter/access point.
•
If all receivers have been explicitly confi gured
(as described above) with the MAC address
of the transmitter/access point
disable ESSID broadcasting from the Media
LAN Settings page to hide them from other
wireless clients.
7
Sending Video
Connect a source device to the transmitter
and a display device to each receiver. Activate
all devices and verify output on each display.
Helpful status information is available in the
Connection Status and Media LAN Performance
web pages on the transmitter/access point.

Extender Placement and Mounting
Without fi rmly mounting the units, place the
transmitter and receivers in their desired
locations and re-attach the source and display
devices. Turn the units on and allow them to
bind. You may need to reposition the units
and antennas to obtain optimal performance.
Tuning suggestions are provided in the Emerge
MPX Extender Installer User Guide. Best
performance is obtained when all antennas
are similarly oriented and aligned on the same
horizontal plane. When the extension network
is performing properly, secure the units in place
without altering their orientation.
