Small Office Edition is a compact platform specifically designed to meet the needs of very small businesses and home offices. In a single unit, it can provide a PABX with Auto Attendant and Voicemail, Broadband Access, Wireless Access Point (WiFi) and VPN tunneling. Voice Compression is included as standard to support IP Extensions or provide IP Trunks back to a head office. Small Office Edition control units have either 3 or 16 built in voice compression channels with 40mms echo cancellation.

4 Analog Loop Start Trunks (Caller ID enabled). 4 Analog extension (Single line extensions) ports. During power fail, analog trunk port 2 is connected to analog extension port number 1. 8 Digital Station (DS) ports for 24xx, 44xx, 54xx and 64xx Series phones plus 3810 and 9040. 3 VoIP Codecs (G.723.1, G.711 and G.729a). Audio (Voice) Compression Protocols. 4 Switched Ethernet ports (Layer 2). Dedicated Switched Ethernet WAN port (Layer 3). 2 x PCMCIA Slots for Wireless and Memory card support. WAN Slot for Optional WAN card (V35, X.21, BRI, T1 PRI). DTE port 9-pin serial port ( for Terminal Adapter for maintenance Audio port for external music on hold source. 3/16 Voice compression channels on board for VOIP applications. The IP406 V2 control unit is a stackable unit with an optional 19” rack mounting kit. The IP406 V2 includes: The IP406 V2 includes 8 digital station (DS) and 2 analog phone (single l ine telephone) ports. It includes an eight port Ethernet LAN switch (unmanaged Layer 2) and Compact Flash card slot for an optional embedded voicemail memory card. It supports up to 6 external expansion modules plus IP extensions controlled through its LAN interface.with a maximum configuration of 250 of various types in combination. Analog only: 182. DS only: 188. IP only: 90. 8 Digital Station (DS) ports for selected 2400, 5400, 6400 and T3 Series phones plus 3810 wireless (US) phones. 2 Analog telephone (single line extensions)ports. Dual-PRI in Slot A. internal expansion module support for increased trunk capacity. 8 10/100 Mbps LAN Switched ports (Layer-2, unmanaged). A data channel is used whenever a call is made from the IP network to an exchange line (Central Office). Optional internal upgrades allow for the support of up 12 x V.90 modem calls and a 4, 8, 16, 24 or 3 0­channel Voice used for either providing networking between sites over a Wide Area Network or supporting Compression Module (VCM). The VCM module supports 4, 8, 16, 24 or 30 simultaneous Voice over IP sessions. These can be IP Telephones and Soft phones. Typically an IP extension onl y uses a compression module channel when starting a call and while on a call to a non-IP extension/line. It is possible to configure more IP extensions than the capacity of the installed VCM. Through support of up to six external Expansion Modules, IP406 V2 can be enhanced to support a mixture of analog, digital or IP phones to maximum of 190 phones.

IP403 Office control unit
The Avaya IP403 Office base unit is a 19” rack mountable voice and data communication system which supports up to 100 combined analog and digital extensions, and up to 3 ex pansion modules, with capacity for 8 analog trunks or 2 digital trunk (48 T1 channels or 60 E1 channels) .Maximum configurations of 125 of various types in combination. Analog only: 92. DS only: 98. IP only: 60. Features include 20 optional voice compression channels, 8 Digital Station ports, 2 Analog Telephone ports, 8 dual speed LAN hub ports, and 18 data channels. Data channels are used for Routing, RAS and Voicemail applications. From basic call handling to full call center functionality, including real time and historic reporting, 2 analog extension ports 8 digital extension ports 2 expansion slots for Quad Basic Rate Card (one per system) DTE Port. 25 pin D-Type socket. IP406 Office V1 (prior to release 3)
The IP406 V1 (formerly just called the IP406) differs from the IP403 Office in that it supports six expansion modules but excludes the integral Digital extension and Analog extension ports. The IP406 V1 Office base unit is 19” rack mountable and supports as standard­Eight 10/100 Mbps LAN Hub ports. DTE Port. 25 pin D-Type socket. Used for system maintenance. Suitable for direct connection of IP Office Serial Port Feature Key dongle. X.21/V35 WAN interface. Support for 6 Expansion Modules. External output port containing two switches for door entry systems. Audio port for external music on hold source. 24 Data channels (Maximum 20 useable for Voicemail Pro).
