Safety information

• Before setting up the monitor, carefully read all the documentation that
came with the package.
• To prevent fire or shock hazard, never expose the monitor to rain or
moisture.
• Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages
inside the monitor may result in serious physical injury.
• If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it by yourself. Contact a
qualified service technician or your retailer.
• Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected
and the power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.
• Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for
ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never place this product near or over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided.
• The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source
indicated on the label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company.
• Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power
standard.
• Do not overload power strips and extension cords. Overloading can

Care & Cleaning

• Before you lift or reposition your monitor, it is better to disconnect the
cables and power cord. Follow the correct lifting techniques when positioning the monitor. When lifting or carrying the monitor, grasp the edges of the monitor. Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord.
• Cleaning. Turn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the
monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner.
• Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner
intended for use with the LCD. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock.
This symbol of the crossed out wheeled bin indicates that the product (electrical, electronic equipment, and mercury-containing button cell battery) should not be placed in municipal waste. Please check local regulations for disposal of electronic products.

The following symptoms are normal with the monitor:
• The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the
fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch and turn it on again to make sure that the flicker disappears.
• You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on
the desktop pattern you use.
• When the same image is displayed for hours, an afterimage of the
previous screen may remain after switching the image. The screen will recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours.
• When the screen becomes black or flashes, or cannot work anymore,
contact your dealer or service center to fix it. Do not repair the screen by yourself!

1.3 Assembling the monitor

To assemble the monitor:
• While assembling the monitor arm/base, we recommend that you
keep the monitor inside its EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) packaging.
1. Align the screw hole on the arm with the bundled screw on the base. Then insert the base into the arm.
2. Fix the base to the arm by fastening the bundled screw.
3. Align the triangle marks on the monitor base and the LED projection cover. Then attach the LED projection cover to the monitor base.
4. Remove the monitor from its EPS packaging. Adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you.

Use the control button on the back of the monitor to adjust the monitor settings.

4. GamePlus Button:
• GamePlus: The GamePlus Function provides a toolkit and
creates a better gaming environment for users when playing different types of games. Particularly, Crosshair function is specially designed for new gamers or beginners interested in First Person Shooter (FPS) games.
To active GamePlus:
• Press GamePlus Button to enter the GamePlus main menu.

2.1 Adjusting the monitor

• For optimal viewing, we recommend that you look at the full face of the
monitor, then adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you.
• Hold the stand to prevent the monitor from falling
angle.
• Youcanadjustthemonitor’sanglefrom+20˚to-5˚anditallows50˚
swivel adjustment from either left or right. You can also adjust the monitor’s height within +/- 10cm.

2.2 Detaching the arm/stand (for VESA wall
mount)
• Avoid damaging the monitor surface. While detaching the monitor
stand, always keep the monitor inside its EPS packaging.
The detachable stand of this monitor is specially designed for VESA wall mount.
To detach the arm/stand
1. Disconnect power and signal cables. Carefully put the monitor facedown on its EPS packaging.
2. Remove the covers on where the monitor and the arm meet.
3. Remove the four (4) screws securing the arm to the rear of the monitor.
4. Detach the stand (arm and base) from the monitor.

1. Press the Central of 5-way button to display the OSD menu.
2. Press the Up and Down keys to switch the options in the menu. When you move from one icon to another, the option name is highlighted.
3. To select a highlighted item from the menu, press the Right key or the Central button.
4. Press the Up and Down keys to select the desired parameters.
5. Press the Right key or the Central button to enter the slide bar, and then use the Up or Down keys (depending on the indicators in the menu) to make changes.

• Level 0: No change.
• Level 1~4: The higher the level,the more blue light will be
reduced.
• When Blue Light Filter is activated,the default settings of Racing Mode
will be automatically imported.
• Between Level 1 to Level 3, the Brightness function is user-
configurable.
• Level 4 is optimized setting. It is compliance with TUV Low Blue Light
Certification. The Brightness function is not user-configurable.
Please refer to the following to alleviate eye strains:
• Users should take some time away from the display if working for long
hours. It is advised to take short breaks (at least 5 mins) after around 1 hour of continuous working at the computer. Taking short and frequent breaks is more effective than a single longer break.
• To minimize eye strain and dryness in your eyes, users should rest
the eye periodically by focusing on objects that are far away.
• Eye exercises can help to reduces eye strain. Repeat these exercises
often. If eye strain continues please consult a physician. Eye exercises: (1) Repeating look up and down (2) Slowly roll your eyes (3) Move your eyes diagonal.
• High energy blue light may lead to eye strain and AMD (Age-Related
Macular Degeneration). Blue light filter to reduce 70% (max.) harmful blue light to avoiding CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome).

• Gamma: Contains three gamma modes including 1.8, 2.2, 2.5.
• In the User Mode, colors of R (Red), G (Green), and B (Blue) are
user-configurable; the adjusting range is from 0 ~ 100.

• OD: Speeds up the response time by Over Drive technology.
Including Level 0~Level 5.
Chapter 3: General Instruction
• Aspect Control: Adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full” ,“4:3” and
16:9” (Only for XG35VQ).
• ASCR: Select ON or OFF to enable or disable dynamic contrast
ratio function,ASCR is Disabled when ELMB is on.
• ELMB: Check to decrease motion blur and minimize ghosting part
when on-screen objects are fast moving. ELMB will be disabled if input source HDMI is selected.
• Adaptive-Sync/FreeSync: It can allow a Adaptive-Sync/
FreeSync supported graphics source to dynamically adjust display refresh rate based on typical content frame rates for power efficient, virtually stutter free and low-latency display update. It is selectable in DisplayPort (XG32VQ, XG35VQ).
• HDR: High Dynamic Range. Contains three HDR modes (ASUS
Cinema HDR, ASUS Gaming HDR and FreeSync2 HDR). HDR item will be locked when connected to AMD FreeSync2 HDR video.
• Shadow Boost: Dark color enhancement adjust monitor gamma
curve to enrich the dark tones in an image making dark scenes and objects much easier be found.
• Choose 4:3, 16:9 to display the picture according to the original aspect
ratio of the input source.
• HDR options:
“ASUS Cinema HDR” complies with VESA Display HDR. “ASUS Gaming HDR” is the HDR mode that ASUS has specifically adjust for HDR performance. “FreeSync2 HDR” is the HDR mode that ASUS has specifically adjust for AMD FreeSync2 HDR.

“HDMI-1(V2.0)”, “HDMI-2” or “DisplayPort”.
• Size: Adjust the PIP size to “Small”, “Middle”, or “Large”.
• Position: Adjusts the position of PIP sub-window to “Right-Top”,
“Left-Top”, “Right-Bottom” or “Left-Bottom”.
• Aspect Control: Adjusts the PIP aspect ratio and automatically
adjust the PIP window size.
• Swap: Swaps the sources of the main- and sub-windows.

• LIGHT IN MOTION: Set the red light intensity level on the base
from Level 1 to Level 3. To turn off the red light, set Level 0.
• Aura Sync: Allows you to turn on or off the Aura Sync function
that synchronizes the Aura RGB light effect among all supported devices.
• Aura RGB: In this function you can select an Aura RGB light
effect for the monitor and change settings for the light effect. Select “OFF” if you want to turn the Aura RGB light effect off.

become unavailable.

• Sound: Selects “Volume” to adjust the output volume level.

• OSD Setup: Adjusts the OSD Timeout, DDC/CI, and
Transparency of the OSD screen.
• Language: Select OSD language. The selections are: English,
French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Poland, Czech, Croacia, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai, and Indonesian.
• Information:Displays the monitor information.
• Key Lock: Disable all key functions. Pressing the down button for
more than five seconds to disable key lock function.
• Power Indicator: Turn the power LED indicator on/off.
• Power Key Lock: To disable / enable power key
• All Reset: Selects “Yes” to revert all settings to the factory default
mode.

3.2 Aura

AURA is a software program that controls the colorful LEDs on supported devices,such as monitors, motherboards, graphic cards, desktop PCs, etc. Aura allows you to adjust the color of the RGB LEDs on these devices and select different light effects. You can also correct or adjust the color of the LEDs by calibrating them.
To activate Aura:
1. Turn ON the Aura Sync function in the OSD menu.
2. Connect the USB 3.0 upstream port of the monitor to the USB port of your computer.
3. Install AURA and then restart the computer.
4. Double-click the AURA program icon on your desktop.

3.3 Troubleshooting (FAQ)

Problem Possible Solution
Power LED is not ON
The power LED lights amber and there is no screen image
Screen image is too light or dark • Adjust the Contrast and Brightness settings via
