ExitPoint™ XL300 through-hole drill
guide. The XL300 is the easiest and fastest way to
locate a through-hole without measuring. Use to
scan through most types of building materials (wood,
drywall, gypsum panels, bricks, and poured concrete).
Features two scanning modes:

WARNING

behind surface. Must use other information sources to

locate, and avoid, objects behind surface before drilling.

no live electrical wires

in the wall. Do not take actions that could be

dangerous if the wall contains a live electrical wire.
Always turn off the electrical power, gas, and water
supplies before penetrating a surface. Failure to follow
these instructions may result in electric shock, fire,
and/or serious injury or property damage.

1. INSTALLING THE BATTERY

NOTE: PULL TAB FROM BATTERY COMPARTMENT
BEFORE USE!

The receiver requires three brand new AAA
(LR03) batteries.

Locate the battery door on the lower backside of the
receiver. Push battery door tab in and lift up. To replace
old batteries, first remove the top two batteries.
Press down on lower tip of third battery (positive end)
to pop battery out of slotted compartment.

Insert three brand new AAA batteries, matching the
positive (+) and negative (-) terminals according to
diagram on receiver. Lower battery door and snap shut.

Low battery: When the battery level is too low for
proper operation, the receiver will automatically power
off. If receiver does not light upon pressing the MODE
button, please replace all three batteries with a brand
new set.

2. OPERATING TIPS

For optimum scanning results, it is important to hold
the receiver properly and move receiver slowly when
scanning. The following tips will provide more accurate
scanning results:

• Grasp the handle with your thumb on one side
and your fingers on the other side. Make sure your
fingertips are resting on the handle and not touching
the surface being scanned or the scanning head of
the receiver.

• Always use the appropriate target magnet size for the
mode you are scanning.

3. TURNING ON/CALIBRATING RECEIVER

To power on the receiver, press the MODE button once.
The receiver will power up in Normal Scan mode,
indicated by the single triangle illuminated amber.
The receiver will automatically calibrate with the red
and blue LEDs steadily lighting around the interface
in a circular motion. When the red LEDs turn off (only
blue LEDs on) and the receiver beeps, the receiver is
calibrated and ready for use.

A failed calibration is indicated by both the red and
blue LEDs flashing rapidly at the same time. Move the
receiver away from the suspected location of the target
magnet and recalibrate.

To recalibrate the receiver while it is still on, press the
MODE button one time and wait for the receiver to
beep, indicating calibration is complete.

To power off the receiver, press and hold the MODE
button down for approximately 2 seconds.

The receiver will automatically power off approximately
3 minutes after last calibration.

4. SELECTING THE MODE

Normal Scan mode ▲: Optimized for locating the
small target magnet through normal interior 2 x 4
walls with
(11.5 cm).

DeepScan

magnet through thicker walls up to 11.81 in. (30 cm).
Depth can vary due to wall material and construction.

Upon power up, the receiver will default to Normal Scan
mode (single triangle illuminated amber). To switch to

to illuminate, and wait for calibration to complete
before scanning.

5. SCANNING FOR TARGET MAGNET

USE OTHER INFORMATION SOURCES TO LOCATE,
AND AVOID, OBJECTS BEHIND THE SURFACE
BEFORE DRILLING.

Determine drilling location.

Affix the appropriate target
magnet to a clean surface
using one of the included
reusable adhesive discs.
The yellow target reticle
will face outward.

Place the receiver flat against the opposite surface from
the target magnet, but in an area not likely to be over it.

Press the MODE button once to turn the receiver
on. Select the appropriate mode. (See Section 4,
“SELECTING THE MODE”.)

Calibrate the receiver (in place) before scanning (blue
LEDs only on). Move the receiver horizontally. As you
approach the target, red LEDs will flash slowly (may
turn solid in DeepScan

®

mode) when a weak magnetic

field is detected and more rapidly as the field strength
increases. When the magnetic field strength is very
strong, the blue LEDs will turn off and ONLY the red
LEDs will illuminate. Continue scanning past the location
until the receiver lights red and blue. Reverse direction
and scan back until ONLY the red LEDs illuminate again.

Without recalibrating, move the receiver to the
mid-point. Scan vertically until the top and bottom
limits are determined (just as you did finding the
horizontal limits). Mark these two points using the
center reticle groove.

7. REUSABLE ADHESIVE DISCS

ExitPoint™ XL300 comes with nine (9) reusable, double-sided adhesive discs. Before application, clean the surface
of any dust or oils and wait for the surface to dry to obtain a more secure hold and conserve the longevity of the
adhesive disc. Peel adhesive off from bottom liner. Then remove top liner and press firmly against clean surface.
To remove from surface, peel item very slowly from surface (do not pull straight out).

With repetitive use or exposure to dust particles, discs may lose stickiness.
Gently wash with soapy water, rinse, air dry, and reuse.

The discs can be stored within the battery compartment by stacking within the
designated, circular template.

8. STORING YOUR TOOL

Always store the receiver, target magnets, adhesive
discs, and instructions in the protective carrying case
when not in use. Case features clear vinyl pocket,
replacement battery slots, pencil holders, and D-rings
for hanging, locking, and attaching items. Case can be
adjusted in a variety of ways:

• Hand grip

• Hanging grip – Adjust loop longer or shorter
using Velcro

• Belt clip – Unhook Velcro, slide flap through belt,
and reattach Velcro

9. HELPFUL HINTS (See also Section 2, Operating Tips)

de perforar y usar un taladro. El XL300 es la forma más

1. INSTALACIÓN DE LAS BATERIAS

NOTA: ¡ANTES DE USAR, JALE LA ETIQUETA (PULL) DEL
COMPARTIMENTO DE BATERÍA!

Este receptor requiere tres baterías nuevas AAA (LR03).
Localice la puerta de la batería en la parte posterior inferior

del receptor. Empuje la pestaña de la tapa de la batería
hacia dentro y levantela. Para reemplazar las baterías
usadas, retire primero las dos baterías de arriba. Presione
hacia abajo en la punta de la tercer batería (polo positivo)
para que se levante la batería fuera del compartimento.

Inserte tres baterías nuevas AAA coincidiendo con el
positivo (+) y negativo (-) de acuerdo con el diagrama de
la herramienta. Coloque la puerta de batería y ciérrela con
un click.

Batería baja: Cuando el nivel de la batería es demasiado
bajo para una operación adecuada, el receptor se apagará
automáticamente. Si el receptor no se enciende al pulsar el
botón MODE, reemplace las tres baterías con un set nuevo.

2. CONSEJOS DE FUNCIONAMIENTO

Para obtener resultados óptimos al escanear, es importante
sujetar adecuadamente el ExitPoint
lentamente al escanear. Los siguientes consejos le darán
resultados de escaneo más precisos:

XL300 y moverlo

• Sostenga la asa con su pulgar en un lado y sus dedos en
el otro. Asegúrese que sus dedos descansen sobre o por
encima de la asa que no toque la superficie que se está
escaneado o el cabezal de escaneo de la unidad.

• Siempre utilice el imán apropiado para el modo que
está escaneando.

3. ENCENDIDO/CALIBRACIÓN

DEL RECEPTOR

Para encender el receptor, presione el botón MODE una vez.
El receptor se encenderá en el modo de escaneo normal,
indicado por el triángulo individual iluminado de color
ámbar. El receptor se calibra automáticamente indicado
por los LEDs de color rojo y azul encendidos, con un
movimiento circular constante alrededor de la interfaz.
Cuando los LED rojos se apagan (sólo LEDs azules quedan
encendidos) el receptor suena un tono, quiere decir que
el receptor esta calibrada y lista para su uso.

Una calibración fallida es indicada por los LED rojos y
azules parpadeando rápidamente, al mismo tiempo.
Mueva el receptor lejos de la ubicación donde se sospecha
se encuentra el imán buscado y vuelva a calibrar.

Para recalibrar la herramienta cuando el receptor esta
prendida, presione el botón de MODE una vez y espere
a que el receptor suene, indicando que la calibración
está terminada.

Para apagar el receptor, mantenga presionado el botón
de MODO por aproximadamente 2 segundos.

El receptor se apagará automáticamente en
aproximadamente 3 minutos después de la última
calibración.

4. SELECCIÓN DEL MODO

Modo de escaneo normal ▲: Optimizado para localizar
el imán pequeño, a través de paredes normales de
interiores 2 x 4, teniendo tablas de yeso de
ambos lados hasta 4.53 pulg. (11.5 cm) de espesor.

Modo de escaneo profundo

: Para localizar el imán

grande a través de paredes más gruesas hasta 11.81 pulg.

la pared y la construcción.

El receptor siempre se encenderá en el modo de escaneo
normal (El triángulo individual iluminado de color ámbar).
Para cambiar el modo hacia escaneo profundo, presione el
botón de MODE dos veces. El triángulo doble se iluminará
de color ámbar que indica que ha cambiado con éxito
al modo de escaneo profundo y el receptor se calibrará
automáticamente.

Para volver al modo de escaneo normal, presione el botón
MODE dos veces, compruebe que el triángulo individual
este iluminado, y espere a que la calibración se termine
antes de empezar la búsqueda del imán.

5. LOCALIZANDO EL IMÁN

DEBE UTILIZAR OTRAS FUENTES DE INFORMACIÓN
PARA LOCALIZAR Y EVITAR OBJETOS DETRÁS DE LA
SUPERFICIE ANTES DE PERFORAR.

Determine el lugar de
la perforación.

Coloque el imán apropiado
en una superficie limpia
usando uno de los discos
adhesivos reutilizables incluido.
La retícula amarrilla de destino
debe estar hacia fuera.

Coloque el receptor en forma plana
sobre la superficie opuesta al imán
de dirección, pero en una zona que no
esté sobre él.

Presione el botón MODE una vez para encender el
receptor. Seleccione el modo apropiado. (Vea la Sección 4,
“Selección del modo”.)

Calibre el receptor (sin mover) antes de escanear
(Encendidos solo los LEDs azules). Mueva el receptor
horizontalmente. Al acercarse a un imán, los LED rojos
parpadean lentamente (pueden permanecer fijos en
el modo de DeepScan

®

) cuando se detecta un campo
magnético débil y más rápidamente a medida que la
intensidad del campo magnético aumenta. Cuando la
intensidad del campo magnética es muy fuerte, los LEDs
azules se apagan y sólo los LED rojos se encenderán.
Continúe escaneando más allá de la ubicación hasta que se
encienda el rojo y el azul del receptor. Invierta la dirección
y escanee de Nuevo hasta que solo los LED rojos se
enciendan de nuevo.

Marque este punto (limite)

de los límites horizontales). Marque estos dos puntos
utilizando la ranura central.

El centro del imán debe estar en EL PUNTO MEDIO
de los LIMITES SUPERIOR E INFERIOR.

7. DISCOS ADHESIVOS REUTILIZABLES

ExitPoint™ XL300 viene con nueve (9), discos adhesivos reutilizables de doble cara. Antes de la aplicación, limpie la
superficie del polvo o aceites y espere a que la superficie este seca para obtener un mejor aseguramiento y conservar la
durabilidad del disco adhesivo. Retire el adhesivo fuera del revestimiento inferior. A continuación, retire la parte superior
de línea y presione firmemente contra la superficie limpia. Para remover de la superficie,
lentamente retire el disco fuera de la superficie (no jale directamente).

Con el uso repetitivo o la exposición a las partículas de polvo, los discos pueden perder adherencia. Lavar suavemente con
agua y jabón, enjuague, seque al aire, y reutilícelo.

Los discos se pueden almacenar dentro del
compartimento de las baterías apilándolos
dentro de la plantilla circular asignada.

8. GUARDAR LA HERRAMIENTA

Siempre guarde el receptor, los imanes, los discos
adhesivos, y las instrucciones en el estuche protector
cuando no lo utilice. Especificaciones del Estuche, cuenta
con compartimiento para las baterías de repuesto,
portalápices y anillos en D para colgar, asegurar y sujetar
elementos. El estuche se puede ajustar de diferentes
maneras:

• Agarre de mano

• Agarre colgado – Ajuste el velcro haciéndolo
largo o corto

• Clip de cinturón – Desenganche el velcro deslice el
cinturón por medio de la solapa y unir otra vez el velcro

9. CONSEJOS ÚTILES (Consulte también el número 2, Consejos de Funcionamiento)

El receptor no se enciende o se apaga inmediatamente.
El receptor se sigue recalibrando o indicando error de calibración.

La indicación roja parpadea (LEDs azules se encienden
momentáneamente) cuando uno piensa que el receptor esta

varias recalibraciones.

No puede localizar el imán.

• La tira protectora de la batería no se ha removido.

• Nivel de bateria demasiado bajo para una operaccion adecuada.

• El receptor necesita ser recalibrada.

• El receptor no pueda localizar el imán en este lugaren particular.

• El imán está orientado en la dirección equivocada (Polo Norte).

• El receptor está dentro de aproximadamente 1 pulg. (25 mm)
del imán (líneas magnéticas envuelven imán).

• La distancia del imán excede las especificaciones del modo de escaneado.

• Retire la tira de la batería.

• Reemplazar con (3) baterías alcalinas AAA nuevas.

• Aleje el receptor del lugar donde piense que esta el imán.
Vuelva a calibrar y reinicie la búsqueda del iman.

• Cambie al modo de DeepScan

• Vuelva a escanear la area usando el iman grande.

• Orienta el imán en la otra dirección (Polo Sur).

• Mueve el receptor más lejos del imán.

• Compruebe la profundidad de escaneo, el tamaño del imán,
y el modo de escaneo.
