Since 1915, Welch Allyn has been a company dedicated to bringing you the best in diagnostic instrumentation for the front line health care professional. The new Welch Allyn Electronic Stethoscope continues this tradition.
The Welch Allyn Electronic Stethoscope based upon proprietary technology from Meditron AS - provides superior sound reproduction due to its sensor-based methodology. Other electronic stethoscopes depend upon a microphone for sound reproduction. Unfortunately, no matter the fidelity, microphones pick up ambient noise in the environment transmitted through the stethoscope diaphragm and chestpiece.
The Welch Allyn Electronic Stethoscope utilizes a highly directional, recessed pressure sensor which eliminates much of the ambient noise in the environment while faithfully reproducing body sounds in the same "color" as a traditional Welch Allyn stethoscope. Amplification can be varied as desired by the practitioner.
Recognizing the need for improved auscultation skills, the Welch Allyn Electronic Stethoscope is just one part of a complete teaching and diagnostic system. When combined with [thedistributor) - a product for sending sounds from the stethoscope to others and [theanalyzer) - a software accessory for recording sounds and phonocardiograms, the Welch Allyn Electronic Stethoscope System is a powerful addition to any hospital, clinic, or health care professional's diagnostic toolbox.

Congratulations on your choice of [thestethoscope) - an exciting, new sensor based technology for superior ausculatation. This product provides new diagnostic capability as part of a complete auscultation system. It has been developed for all those who listen to body sounds with traditional stethoscopes.
The idea for the Welch Allyn / meditron electronic stethoscope is based on a new technological invention. Sounds are intercepted by a patented sensor in the receiver, which strengthens the signals and provides better sound reproductoin than a traditional stethoscope.
The stethoscope is made of robust, durable materials and great emphasis has been placed on its design being user-friendly, hygienic, and ergonomic. It is equipped with an external port for a PC, a variable volume control, and a built-in filter for three predetermined frequency ranges:
1. Pulmonary (high frequency sounds)
2. Wide listening area
3. Cardiology

Cleaning

The stethoscope may be cleaned with a lightly moistened cotton wipe using chlorhexidine or alcohol. Avoid very high or low temperatures or contact with solvents. Do not immerse any of the stethoscope's components into liquid. Do not autoclave. Dry thoroughly prior to use if the unit is subjected to rain or high humidity.
The stethoscope is recommended for use directly against the skin, but also works when one is listening through a patient's clothing. It should not be used on wounds or broken skin. If it is, it must be cleaned immediately after use.
With optional accessories, the stethoscope can be linked to a PC so that sound signals can be visualized, stored, and later compared with former recordings of the patient. The sound picture, or phonocardiogram, can be transferred via modem and used in tele-medical environments.

Temperature

The operating range of the stethscope is 5 to 40°C. Storage temperature is from -20°C to +60°C. After being stored in extreme temperatures for more than 24 hours, allow the stethoscope to return to normal operating temperature range prior to use.

Humidity

The stethoscope functions at +40°C, RH 90%, noncondensing.

Allergies

The stethoscope does not contain latex or emit any dangerous energy. To aciheve the optimal benefit from the product, please study the following instructions carefully.
