A VW doesn’t just start off as sheet metal and engine
parts. It begins as an idea. A belief that getting the little
things right is a big thing. A viewpoint that asks why
dumb it down when you can smart it up. An attitude that

The Tiguan

If you crave the comfort and space of an SUV and the
power of a turbocharged, sport-tuned engine, the Tiguan
compact SUV is right in your wheelhouse. Slip into the
driver’s seat and experience the marriage of room and
vroom. Try a few downtown city streets, open the available
panoramic sunroof and twist along a mountain switchback,
then negotiate the slalom of a supermarket parking
lot just for good measure. There’s a reason the Tiguan was
named after the tiger and the iguana. It’s quick and
nimble, just like its namesakes. The big difference is that it
lives in the city. Most of the time.

Well, it makes the engine 25% more efficient than conventional injection engines.
And that equals lower emissions and more power. It also gives you a few more
victory laps around the city before you stop for gas.

Go ahead, take your time and admire the portrait to your left. There’s quite a story
behind it. See, when it came time to design our compact SUV, we wanted it to have
more than just gorgeous lines and smart details. We wanted it to be agile, strong,
sleek, and fast. So naturally we turned to the GTI—the sportiest model in our lineup
and the original hot hatch—for some inspiration. And then it hit us. If we took the
award-winning 2.0L TSI® engine found in the GTI and made it standard in every
Tiguan, it wouldn’t just stand apart from the competition, it would blow right by. It was
a pretty inspired move, too. Because instead of calmly driving along like any of the
other compact SUVs out there, the Tiguan digs deep with its 200 hp and 207 lbs/ft of
torque and takes you from zero to 60 in under eight seconds. So if you see a GTI on
the road, give it a wave in the name of brotherly love.

Getting stuck is for other cars. With available 4MOTION® on your side, the Tiguan will help you
navigate almost any type of terrain with ease. Sure, we could have called it all-wheel drive. But with
all four wheels actively in motion and constantly working together, all-wheel drive just didn’t do justice
to the special synchronized technology contained within the drivetrain. That’s because 4MOTION knows
when to punch up the power and when to ease up on each individual wheel. It’s the ultimate kind of
teamwork, and you get all the benefits without even having to lift a finger.

right in. If you’d like to step it up a notch, add keyless access with push-button start so you don’t
even have to take your keys out of your pocket or purse to drive your Tiguan. Or opt for Bi-Xenon™
headlights that use the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) to turn up to 15 degrees around corners,
effectively seeing into the future. You can even make the great outdoors the ultimate addition to
