 This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons with reduced

physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

 If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or

similarly qualified persons in order to avoid any hazard.

1. Introduction + Description

This soldering station features a temperature control (150°C to 450°C) and a digital temperature display which displays the set temperature and the actual temperature simultaneously.

The VTSSC40N is a 48W soldering station with a temperature sensor in the ceramic heating element. The heating element is supplied with the necessary power via a safe 24V transformer, while the bit is completely isolated from the mains. In case of malfunction, a warning will be displayed on the LCD and the device will emit a sound.

2. Safety Instructions

 Incorrect use of this tool may cause fire.  Be cautious when using this tool in places where inflammable products are stored.  Heat can cause fire to inflammable products even when they are not in sight.  Do not use the tool in an explosive atmosphere.  Place the tool back in its stand in order to let it cool down before storage.

3. Operating Instructions

1. Verify whether the mains voltage is compatible with the operating voltage of the device before plugging

it in.

2. Make sure that the device was not damaged in transit.

3. Connect the soldering iron by means of the 4-pin plug and screw its nut tightly.

4. Switch the device on by means of the on/off switch and set the desired temperature by means of the

pushbuttons. One brief push will result in a 1° modification; keep the button pushed to modify faster (steps of 10°).

The set temperature is stored internally: the next time you use your VTSSC40N, it will automatically display the last set temperature.

4. Tips for New Tips

1. Switch the device on and set a temperature of 250°C.

2. Coat the surface with solder when the temperature of the tip has reached 250°C.

3. Install the desired temperature after allowing the unit to idle at 250°C for 3 minutes.

The iron will be ready for use when the preset temperature is reached.

5. Common Causes for Tip Failure

 The tip is not sufficiently tinned.  Wiping the tip on a surface with high sulphur content or on a dirty or dry sponge or rag.  Contact between the tip and organic or chemical substances such as plastic, silicone, grease, etc.  Impurities in the solder and/or solder with a low tin content.

6. Important Remarks

 Remove and clean the tip after heavy or moderate use. We recommend cleaning the tip every day if the

device is used on a daily basis. Clear the tip from excess solder. Never clean the tip with a file or other abrasive materials.

 Always tin the tip before returning it to the holder, prior to deactivating the station or in case of long

periods of inactivity. Clean the tip with a wet sponge or with our tip cleaner (ref. VTSTC) prior to use.

 Do not use temperatures > 400°C for long periods of time as this will shorten the life of your tip.  Do not heat the soldering iron without a tip: this will damage the heating component and the temperature

sensor.

 Do not press too hard on the tip while soldering: this does not improve the heat transfer and may damage

the tip.

 Only replace a blown fuse when the device is powered down and disconnected from the mains.

Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage.  Dit toestel is geschikt voor gebruik door kinderen vanaf 8 jaar, door personen met fysieke,

zintuiglijke of verstandelijke beperkingen, of door personen met gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, op voorwaarde dat dit onder toezicht gebeurt van een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid of hun aanwijzingen heeft gegeven, hoe zij het toestel moeten gebruiken en zich bewust zijn van de risico's die het gebruik van het toestel met zich meebrengt.

 Indien de voedingskabel beschadigd is, dan moet deze door de fabrikant, diens servicedienst,

Waarschuwing: dit gereedschap moet in zijn houder geplaatst worden als het niet gebruikt wordt; laat het niet onbeheerd achter als het ingeschakeld is.

2. Veiligheidsinstructies

 Verkeerd gebruik van dit toestel kan brand veroorzaken.  Wees voorzichtig wanneer u dit toestel gebruikt in ruimtes met brandbare stoffen.  Hitte kan brandbare stoffen doen ontbranden, ook al zijn deze stoffen niet zichtbaar.  Vermijd het toestel te gebruiken in ruimtes met een ontplofbare atmosfeer.  Laat de soldeerbout in de houder afkoelen voordat u hem opbergt.

3. Bedieningsinstructies

1. Ga na of de netspanning compatibel is met de werkspanning van het toestel voor u het aansluit op het net.

2. Ga na of het toestel niet werd beschadigd tijdens het transport.

3. Sluit de 4-pins connector van de soldeerbout aan op het toestel en draai de bevestigingsmoer goed aan.

4. Zet het toestel aan met de ON/OFF-schakelaar en stel de gewenste temperatuur in d.m.v. de drukknoppen.

Een korte druk zal een wijziging van 1° opleveren, hou de knop ingedrukt om sneller te gaan (sprongen van 10°).

De ingestelde temperatuur wordt intern opgeslagen: wanneer u de volgende keer uw VTSSC40N gebruikt, zal het toestel automatisch op de laatst ingestelde temperatuur staan.

4. Tips voor een nieuwe punt

1. Zet het toestel aan en stel een temperatuur in van 250°C.

2. Breng een laagje soldeer aan wanneer de temperatuur van de punt 250°C heeft bereikt.

3. Laat het toestel ongeveer drie minuten op 250°C rusten en stel dan de gewenste temperatuur in.

Het soldeerstation is gebruiksklaar wanneer de ingestelde temperatuur is bereikt.

5. Defecte punt: mogelijke oorzaken

 De punt is onvoldoende vertind.  De punt is in contact gekomen met een vuile of droge spons of een oppervlak met een hoog zwavelgehalte.  Contact met organische of chemische stoffen zoals plastic, silicone, vetten, enz.  Onzuiverheden in het soldeer en/of soldeer met een laag tingehalte.

6. Belangrijke opmerkingen

 Verwijder en reinig de punt na matig of intensief gebruik. U moet de punt dagelijks reinigen indien u het

toestel elke dag gebruikt. Verwijder overtollig soldeer. Gebruik geen vijl of schurend materiaal om de punt te reinigen.

 Vertin de punt voor u hem terug in de houder plaatst, voor u het toestel uitschakelt of als u het toestel lang

niet zal gebruiken. Reinig de punt met een natte spons voor u begint of gebruik ons reinigingsmiddel (ref. VTSTC).

 Vermijd temperaturen >400°C gedurende lange perioden: dit verkort de levensduur van de punt.  Verhit de soldeerbout niet zonder punt: dit kan het verwarmingselement en de temperatuursensor

beschadigen.

 Duw niet met de punt tijdens het solderen: dit bevordert de warmteoverdracht niet en kan de punt

beschadigen.

 Vervang een kapotte zekering enkel wanneer het toestel uit staat en niet aangesloten is op een

stopcontact.
