2.1 Authorised personnel

All operations described in this operating instructions manual must be carried out only by trained specialist personnel authorised by the plant operator.
During work on and with the device the required personal protective equipment must always be worn.

2.2 Appropriate use

The VEGAMIP 61 is a sensor for level detection.
You can nd detailed information on the application range in chapter
"Product description".
Operational reliability is ensured only if the instrument is properly used according to the specications in the operating instructions manual as well as possible supplementary instructions.

2.3 Warning about misuse

Inappropriate or incorrect use of the instrument can give rise to application-specic hazards, e.g. vessel overll or damage to system components through incorrect mounting or adjustment.
2.4 General safety instructions
This is a state-of-the-art instrument complying with all prevailing regulations and guidelines. The instrument must only be operated in a technically awless and reliable condition. The operator is responsible for the trouble-free operation of the instrument.
During the entire duration of use, the user is obliged to determine the compliance of the necessary occupational safety measures with the current valid rules and regulations and also take note of new regulations.
The safety instructions in this operating instructions manual, the national installation standards as well as the valid safety regulations and accident prevention rules must be observed by the user.
For safety and warranty reasons, any invasive work on the device beyond that described in the operating instructions manual may be carried out only by personnel authorised by the manufacturer. Arbitrary conversions or modications are explicitly forbidden.
The safety approval markings and safety tips on the device must also be observed.

2 For your safety
The emitting frequencies of the sensors depend on the model, but are
all in the K band range. The low transmitting power lies far below the internationally permitted limit value. When the instrument is used correctly, it presents no danger to human health. It may be operated without restriction outside of closed vessels.
2.5 CE conformity
The device fullls the legal requirements of the applicable EC guidelines. By axing the CE marking, VEGA conrms successful testing of the product.
Only with class A instruments:
The device is a class A instrument designed for use in an industrial environment. When used in a dierent environment, e.g., in a living area, the electromagnetic compatibility must be ensured by the user. If necessary, suitable screening measures against conducted and emitted disturbances must be taken.
You can nd the conformity certicate in the download section under www.vega.com.

2.6 Radio license for Europe

The instrument is approved according to EN 300440-1 V1.5.1 (2009-
03) and EN 300440-2 V1.531 (2009-03) and can be used without radio
limitations.

2.7 Radio license for USA/Canada

Operation is only permitted if the following two conditions are fullled:
l The instrument must not emit interference radiation l The instrument must operate without being aected by incoming
interference radiation, including such that may trigger unwanted operating conditions.
The instrument is in conformity with the following regulations:
FCC: Part 15 of the FCC regulations
IC: RSS-210 Issue 7, RSS-GEN Issue 2 and RSS-102 Issue 4 of the IC
regulations.
Conversions or modications of the instrument not expressly approved by the manufacturer will lead to loss of the approval.
Before use, make sure that the respective approval numbers are stated on the type label (see chapter "Conguration").

3 Product description
Typical applications are overll and dry run protection. With an
operating distance of 100 m, VEGAMIP 61 can be used, for example, in bulk solids silos with large diameters. Thanks to its simple and rugged measuring system, VEGAMIP 61 is virtually unaected by the process and the chemical and physical properties of the medium.
VEGAMIP 61 can also be used for detection of vehicles and ships or for material recognition on conveyor belts.
It works even under extremely dicult conditions: dierent grain sizes, contamination, extreme lling noise, high temperatures, strong dust generation and abrasive products are all no problem for the instrument.
