Mount / Un-Mount USB Device
A USB disk must be mounted before it can be used. Don’t try to use any PVR functions at the very moment when the USB device is connected, wait a while until you see the prompt message “USB device attach successful!” (see section
on Page 20).
All the USB disks must be un-mounted before you can unplug it, please make sure all the PVR operations such as recording, time-shifting, and playback are stopped before you unmount it (see section on Page 42 for un-mount operations in detail), otherwise the file system on the disk may be damaged and can't be recognized by the unit again. Alternatively, you can press the Yellow button on the remote control to Un-Mount all USB devices.

2.The unit will remember the “Default Partition” you last changed.
This unit supports HDD with various partitions (volumes), all the partitions of the HDD in FAT32 file system will be detected and mounted automatically when it is connected, but each time there is only one partition is set as “Default Partition”. All recordings and time shifting will be stored in the Default Partition.
Do NOT try to unplug the disk or shut down the mains while the unit is in PVR functions such as recording, time-shifting or playback, and make sure the disk is already un-mounted before you unplug it, otherwise the file system may be damaged! Please kindly note this unit can't mount a damaged disk until it's recovered by the unit or a computer (see below section for details).

You can't use any PVR functions at this very moment until the unit finishes the necessary mounting process.
Note:
The time spent on the mounting process depends on the number of partitions and the capacity of the disk, it may take several minutes to finish it.
PVR Operations
If the USB disk is partitioned into several volumes, but no FAT32 volume exists, a prompt dialog will ask user to format one of them into FAT32.
Note:
If you confirmed to format the disk, all data previous stored on the volume will be erased and can't be recovered. It is recommended that you backup your data and finish the format process on your PC.
When a USB disk is connected, a prompt message “USB device detected, please wait…” will be shown at the bottom of screen.

Note:
The time required to finish the recovery on line depends on the disk capacity. It may take a long time if the partition is very large. We strongly recommend user to do the recovery on the PC which only costs several seconds, please refer below section for details.
If one of the partition is FAT32 but the file system is damaged, a prompt dialog will ask user if an on line recovery (recover the disk on the unit) is needed.

Before you start the recording / time-shifting with a USB disk connected, please make sure there is enough free space on your disk. The space required varies hugely according to the broadcasting program. HD recordings can use anywhere from 5 to 15 GB per hour, which is dependent on the “information” being broadcast. The size variance is caused by the resolution (1080i for the commercial networks vs. ABC HD's 720p or SBS HD's 576p), whether or not there is a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, or multiple soundtracks, subtitles, EPG and time information, etc. The data rate of SD recordings can also vary, but it usually falls somewhere between 3 and 4 GB an hour.
Press the key if you want to record the program you are currently watching. If there is USB disk mounted, a prompt dialog will be shown for confirmation, press key (or do nothing in 10 seconds)to start the recording.

If you record for a long time, you will also find other files under the folder such as: Animal Lifeline [MAY 03 10.53.21].001 Animal Lifeline [MAY 03 10.53.21].002 …… Actually it's the same as .trp file, but due to the restrictions of FAT32 file system, it doesn't allow a file larger than 2 GB, so the recording is divided every 1.5 GB with extension start from 001, 002 and so on.
