Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are e
ntitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably f
oreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail

o be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Warranty Terms & Conditions
1. TEAC warrants that this product is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal domestic use with
reasonable care and skill. Maintenance and cleaning (i.e. laser head) is not covered by this warranty. The TEAC warranty only applies to TEAC products purchased, used and serviced in Australia.
2. The benefits to the consumer given by this Warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies of the cons
under a law in relation to goods or services to which the warranty relates, being the Australian Consumer Law.
3. Refund or replacement via your retailer is available for a period of 14 days after purchase for goods that have been
inspected and determined to have a major failure. Refund and exchange is not applicable for change of mind.
4. Subject to the terms herein, this warranty effectively covers the equipment as specified
Table below from the date of purchase.

In Home Service/Pick up* Service
This service will only be provided as part of this warranty if all the following conditions are met;
a) The product is indicated in the Warranty Period Table. b) The product is within the warranty period. c) The product is located within the normal service area of the local TEAC Authorised Service Centre.
If TEAC determines that the product is not repairable on site, TEAC can complete the repair by taking the product to a TEAC Authorised Service Centre.
Carry-in Service Where In-Home service/Pick up* is not available, the purchaser is required t o send the produc Authorised Service Centre for repair. In this event, proof of purchase is required to support a warranty claim. After the repair, the product will be available for collection by or return to the purchaser at a f ee upon request. TEAC in­home service can be made available at a fee upon request.
6. A 12-month replacement warranty is applicable to all Accessories such as Remote, Power Adaptors and Cables.
7. TEAC will ensure to the best of its abilities that all required parts are made available for any required service/repair.
8. TEAC Australia Pty Ltd and its Authorised Service Centres will use their best endeavours to complete product
repairs within a reasonable period based on available resources and workload during the time when service is reque
sted and performed.
9. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the product. In the case of a replacement, the product may be replaced,
with a refurbished unit of the same type or, if one is unavailable, a similar refurbished model with equal or better features & specifications.
10. Please be advised that if the product presented for repair is capable of retaining user-generated data, the data may
be lost during servicing. Customers sending the product in for service/repair.
11. Service will be provided only during normal business hours and under safety conditions and circumstances. TEAC
and its authorised service agents can refuse any repair if safety, in relation t o OH&S, becomes a concern to its staff or authorised service agents’ personnel.
12. The warranty is void and warran
a) The product was not transported, installed, operated or maintained according to manufacturer instruction, or b) The product was abused, damaged, tampered, altered or repaired by any unauthorised persons, or c) Product failure is due to accidents during use, installation or transit, power surges, use of defective or
incompatible external devices, exposure to abno entry of liquids, objects or creatures into the product.
13. No one is authorised to assume any liability on behalf of TEAC or impose any obligation on it, in connection with the
sale of any equipment other than as stated in this warranty and outlined above.

Thank you for choosing the HDR9650TS. With its Twin Tuners and HDMI 1080i connection, you can watch all new digital DVB-T channels in High Definition.
To get the best of the High-Definition programs, we advise you to connect the receiver:
- To your television with an HDMI cable for superior picture quality.
- To your home theatre via digital coaxial or optical cable output for a superior sound
quality. Please note HDMI and digital coaxial cables are sold separately

PANEL OVERVIEW
Front Panel
1. STANDBY button: To turn ON/OFF Standby Mode.
2. USB Slot: Connect for software upgrades.
3. MENU: To enter the Main Menu.
4. OK: To confirm the selected menu item. 5-6. CH-/+ : To change the channel up/down. 7-8. VOL-/+ : To control the level of the volume.
Rear Panel
1. ANT OUT: RF signal output to other receivers such as a TV.
2. LOOP OUT: Loop Out RF signal to the second tuner.
3. ETHERNET: Connect to a network.
4. OPTICAL: Digital audio output.
5. HDMI: HDMI to connect to your TV for full high definition video quality.
6. VIDEO: Basic VIDEO output to connect to a TV.
7. Audio(L/R) Outputs: Output left/right audio signal to a TV or sound system.
8. Y/Pb/Pr: Output Y/Pb/Pr video signals to a TV (supports high definition video).

REMOTE CONTROL
Button Functions
1. POWER: Turn Standby mode ON/OFF.
2. USB: (No function)
3. Numeric buttons (0-9): To enter numeric options in menus and to enter a channel number directly.
4. EPG: Access the Electronic Program Guide.
5. MENU: Access the main menu. While in the submenus, press to return to the previous menu.
6. ▲▼: Change to previous/next channels or to move the selection up/down in menu navigation.
7. REW\FF: Fast Forward or Rewind a recorded program during playback or Time Shift (cycle through options 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, 32X, 64X).
8. 4 COLOR KEYS: Used as shortcut keys in DVR functions – follow onscreen hints.
-SUBTITLE: Display subtitles.
-REC.LIST: Display the Recorded File List
-SCH.LIST: Display the Schedule List.
-ZOOM: Zoom in/out on video/photos during playback.
9. REC: Start an instant recording on the current channel.
10. PLAY\PAUSE: In Live TV mode, press to start Time Shift. In DVR playback mode, press to play or pause the selected program.
11. MUTE: Toggle muting of sound output on or off.
12. RECALL: View the previous channel.
13. INFO: Display the current channel/program information.
14. EXIT: Cancel an operation or exit the menu directly.
15. OK: Confirm the selected menu item or open the program list.
16. ◀▶: Control the volume level or move left/right in menu mode.
17. SKIP BACK\FWD: Skip back/forward 30 seconds in a recorded program during playback (in Time Shift or DVR mode).
18. S.REC: Select series recording.
19. STOP: During Time Shift, press to quit Time Shift. In DVR playback, press to stop program playback.
20. ASPECT: Change aspect ratio (16:9, 4:3 letter box, Pan Scan)
21. FORMAT: Switch between different video resolutions (1080p, 1080i, 720P, 576i).
22. AUDIO: Display audio info of the selected program.

REMOTE CONTROL
1. To use the remote control, point it towards the front of the HDR9650TS.
2. The remote control has a range of up to 7 meters from the HDR9650TS at an angle
of up to 60 degrees (30 degrees on each side).
3. The remote control will not operate if the signal’s path to the sensor is blocked.
Note:
- Sunlight or very bright light will decrease the sensitivity of the remote control.
- Old Batteries will decrease the sensitivity of the remote control. When this happens,
replace the old batteries with new ones.
Installing the Batteries
1. Remove the battery cover from the remote control and put two AAA size batteries
inside the compartment.
2. The diagram inside the battery compartment shows the correct way to install the
batteries. Pay attention to the +/- polarities and install accordingly.
CAUTION:
1. Keep batteries out of children’s reach.
2. Don’t attempt to recharge, short-circuit, disassemble, heat or throw the batteries into
the fire.
3. Always replace both batteries at the same time. Never mix new and old batteries or
batteries of a different type.
4. If you don’t intend to use the remote control for an extended period, remove the
batteries to prevent possible leakage and corrosion.
5. Do not drop, hit or step on the remote control.
6. Do not spill water on the remote control.

EQUIPMENT CONNECTION
How to get good reception
You do not need to change or replace your existing TV antenna to receive digital
signal. However, if your antenna is not in a good condition it is recommended that you consider replacing it to ensure uninterrupted digital television viewing.
Viewers in areas of poor analog reception may need specialists’ advice about
antenna requirements for digital reception in their area.
It’s recommended that viewers use quad shielded cable from the antenna to the
receivers.
Connections to a TV
There are several ways of connecting this unit to the TV. For High Definition viewing your TV must support either 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolutions. Also the connection between the unit and TV must be either YPbPr Component or HDMI. Other connections will provide Standard Definition viewing.
WARNING:
Please switch off the mains power before plugging or unplugging connected cables, otherwise, it may damage this unit!
Connect the unit via Video and Audio (for Standard Definition viewing)
1. Connect the antenna with ANT IN on the unit.
2. Connect the RF loop cable via LOOP IN and LOOP OUT.
3. Connect the unit via Video/Audio L/R using standard AV cables, shown below.

Connect the unit via YpbPr output and Audio output (for high definition viewing)
1. Connect the antenna with ANT IN on the unit.
2. Connect the RF loop cable via LOOP IN and LOOP OUT.
3. Connect the unit to TV with a YPbPr cable as below.

1. Connect the antenna with ANT IN on the unit.
2. Connect the RF loop cable via LOOP IN and LOOP OUT.
3. Connect the unit to TV via HDMI cable as shown below.

1. Connect the antenna with ANT IN of the unit.
2. Connect the RF loop cable via LOOP IN and LOOP OUT.
3. Connect the unit to TV via AV cable as shown below.

MAIN MENU
Press [MENU] to open the MAIN MENU. Descriptions of each item are as follows:
Electronic Program Guide Menu
Press [OK]/[] to enter the EPG List. For more about using the EPG, see page 18.
DVR Menu
Media Browser
Press [OK]/[] to enter the DVR List for playback of media files (movies, music and photos) that have
been recorded or from a connected media server.
Timer List
View and manage your timer reminders/recordings by using the colour buttons as shown in the hints at the bottom of the screen.
- [RED]: Add new timer reminder/recording
- [GREEN]: Delete existing timers
- [YELLOW]: Delete all timers
- [BLUE]: Sort the timer list
