3085 SP™ Surgical Table has a 1,000 lb. Patient Weight Capacity

Dear Customer:
STERIS has increased the patient weight allowance on Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Tables. This
increased weight allowance applies to all and previously purchased Amsco 3085 SP Surgical
Tables. All Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Tables are now rated to support 1,000 lb. (454 kg) patients
in normal orientation, with safety factors compliant to UL2601-1, CSA M601.1, EN 60601-1
and EN 60601-2-46. The weight allowance for patients in reverse orientation is 500 pounds.
This increase in patient weight allowance does NOT apply to Amsco 3080 Surgical Tables, which
still have a 400 lb. (181 kg) patient weight capacity in all orientations.
When the Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Table was introduced, there were very few surgical procedures
performed on patients weighing over 500 pounds. Recently, the number of procedures performed on
heavier patients has been increasing. This trend lead STERIS to conduct capability testing on the
Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Table. As a result of our testing, STERIS has increased the patient weight
allowance on the Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Table.
The 1,000 pound (454 kg) rating for the Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Table applies to the ability to
support patients in normal orientation and to raise, lower and position patients using standard table
controls, with the exception of side tilt. A 500 lb (227 kg) rating still applies to side tilt in normal
orientation and all reverse patient orientations. In addition, when performing a surgery that requires
a headrest (other than the table head section) in reverse patient orientation, or when using a
Fem/Pop Board, Captain’s Chair, or the 3080/3085 Orthopedic Extension accessories, the Amsco
3085 SP Surgical Table will accommodate patients weighing up to 400 lbs (181 kg).
STERIS is pleased to share this instruction for use regarding the increased patient weight allowance
for Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Tables. The enclosed supplemental product identification label(s) is
intended to help promote user awareness of this increase in patient weight allowance. This label
should be placed on the “short wide end” of the base beneath the column (not on the column) of
your Amsco 3085 SP Surgical Table.
