On the battery pack
• Before changing the battery pack, slide the POWER switch to OFF (CHG) and turn off the
(Movie) lamp/ (Still) lamp (p. 29).
• The CHG (charge) lamp flashes during charging, or Battery Info (p. 27) will not be correctly displayed under the following conditions:
– The battery pack is not attached correctly. – The battery pack is damaged. – The battery pack is worn-out (For Battery
Info only).
• The power will not be supplied from the battery as long as the AC Adaptor is connected to the DC IN jack of your camcorder, even when the mains lead is disconnected from the wall socket.
• When attaching an optional video light, it is recommended that you use an NP-QM71D or NP-QM91D battery pack.
• We do not recommend using an NP-FM30, which only allows short recording and playback times, with your camcorder.
On the charging/recording/playback time
• Times measured when using the camcorder at 25 °C (77 °F) (10 °C to 30 °C (50 °F to 86 °F) is recommended).
• The recording and playback time will be shorter when you use your camcorder in low temperatures.
• The recording and playback time will be shorter depending on the conditions under which you use your camcorder.
28
Page 29
On the AC Adaptor
• Use the nearby wall socket when using the AC Adaptor. Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall socket immediately if any malfunction occurs while using your camcorder.
• Do not use the AC Adaptor placed in a narrow space, such as between a wall and furniture.
• Do not short-circuit the DC plug of the AC Adaptor or battery terminal with any metallic objects. This may cause a malfunction.
PRECAUTION
• Even if your camcorder is turned off, AC power (mains) is still supplied to it while connected to the wall socket via the AC Adaptor.

Playing a disc on other devices

Playing a disc on other devices
The kind of device you can play a disc on depends on the image quality (HD (high definition) or SD (standard definition)) selected when the disc was recorded. For details, refer to the instruction manual supplied with your device.
Discs recorded with HD (high definition) image quality
You can play back these discs only on devices compatible with the AVCHD format. Since DVD players and DVD recorders are incompatible with the AVCHD format, they cannot play discs recorded with HD (high definition) image quality. Also, if you insert an HD (high definition) image quality disc recorded in the AVCHD format in these devices, you may not be able to eject the disc. If you have inserted a disc recorded in the AVCHD format in a DVD device, there is a risk that you can neither record nor play back the disc correctly on your camcorder.
Discs recorded with SD (standard definition) image quality
You can play these discs back on DVD devices. However, we do not guarantee playback on all DVD devices.
b Notes
• Do not use an 8 cm CD adaptor with an 8 cm DVD as it may cause a malfunction.
• Make sure that a vertically installed device is placed in a position such as that the disc can be placed horizontally.
• Refer to the instruction manual supplied with your device or consult your dealer.
• Some discs cannot be played back, may freeze for an instant between scenes. Some functions may be disabled on some devices.
z Tips
• Devices that support subtitles can display the recording date and time where the subtitles normally appear (p. 80). Refer to the instruction manual of your device.
• If you have created a disc menu (p. 68), you can select the desired scene in the menu.
• You can also play the playlist back on other devices if the discs were recorded with HD (high definition) image quality (p. 57). Create the playlist on your camcorder in advance, then select on the disc menu.
Playing a disc on a computer
b Notes
• Make sure that the DVD drive of the computer can play an 8 cm DVD.
• Do not use an 8 cm CD adaptor with an 8 cm DVD as it may cause a malfunction.
• You must finalize the disc (p. 66). Otherwise, a malfunction may occur.
To play a disc recorded with HD (high definition) image quality
Install “Picture Motion Browser” on the supplied CD-ROM on the computer to play movies (p. 98).
z Tips
• For details on operations and procedures, see the “First Step Guide” on the supplied CD-ROM (p. 101).
To play a disc recorded with SD (standard definition) image quality
You can play a disc on a computer if a DVD playback application is installed on the computer.
1 Insert the finalized disc into the DVD
drive of your computer.
2 Play back the disc using a DVD
playback application.
