MICROMV™

Sony’s first tape based consumer MPEG2
recording format. The MICROMV media
is 70% smaller than Mini DV media,
allowing camcorders to be even smaller,
while still providing high quality video
comparable to Mini DV.

MPEG2

MPEG2 (Motion Pictures Experts Group) is
a compression technology that is PC
friendly and provides video quality
comparable to DV. MPEG2 compression is
widely used in digital satellite broadcasting
and DVD players. PC editing has never
been easier than with the supplied MPEG2
compatible MovieShaker™ software
version 3.1.

1/6" Advanced HAD™ CCD, 680K Pixels

1/6" CCD with 680,000 pixels provides
stunning detail and clarity. The Advanced
HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD
allows more light to reach the imager
which reduces video noise to improve
signal-to-noise ratio by up to 6dB (2x
better than a standard CCD) which is
particularly effective when shooting in
dark situations.

Resolution

Up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution
realized through a combination of
advanced optics, CCD imager and signal
processing technologies which result in a
higher level of video resolution.

Multi-Picture Search

Exclusive to MICROMV is the ability to
provide thumbnail images of all recorded
scenes, allowing quick and easy access
to your favorite video memories.

Vario-Sonnar Lens

The Carl Zeiss®lens has an advanced
optical multi-layered coating offering less
glare and flare with increased contrast
for improved detail and clarity.

10X Optical/120X Precision Digital Zoom

The Carl Zeiss®optical zoom brings the
action close up from far away. In addition,
precision digital zoom interpolation
technology means that extreme digital
zooming is cleaner, with less distortion
than previous types of digital zoom.

2.5" Precision SwivelScreen™ Hybrid
LCD Display (211K)

The 211,000 pixel LCD provides
excellent viewing clarity with improved
resolution. The Hybrid system consist of
a transmissive LCD combined with a
reflective LCD. By turning off the LCD
backlight, it will capture more ambient
light virtually eliminating LCD
“wash-out”. Images will be visible in
the LCD even in the most challenging
lighting conditions.

Precision Color Viewfinder (180K)

Increased pixel count provides more
detail and clarity of video subjects.

Super SteadyShot®Picture Stabilization

An advanced version of Sony’s
SteadyShot system that controls a

Cassette Memory

Each MICROMV cassette comes
equipped with a built-in 64KB Memory
Chip that stores Custom Titles, valuable
cassette information such as cassette ID
and usage dates, and thumbnail image
information from the beginning of a
recorded video scene. Thumbnail images
allow for easy access to recorded scenes.

InfoLithium®Battery with AccuPower™
Meter System

Charge the battery at any time
because unlike NiCad (Nickel

Cadmium) batteries Sony’s
rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries are
not subjected to a life shortening
“memory effect”. Sony’s exclusive
AccuPower™ meter displays the battery
time remaining in minutes, in the
viewfinder or the LCD screen.
