Installation

Handset cord

Connect the long end of the handset cord to the socket marked with the

symbol (position 15). Insert the cord into the cable duct (position 16) and attach the short end to the handset.

Please observe the following guidelines:

• For your own safety and protection, do

not use the telephone in locations with

extreme heat or humidity. The telephone is designed to operate at temperatures between +5ºC and +50ºC and is not water-proof.

• Some parts of the telephone, such as the rubber feet, may leave marks on varnished furniture.

• Place the telephone at least one meter away from devices such as cordless phones or TV sets. These devices may cause interference with the telephone.

• Use a damp or antistatic cloth to clean the telephone. Never use a dry cloth (danger of electrostatic discharge) or abrasive cleaning agents.

• When the telephone reaches the end of its service life, dispose of it in an environmentally friendly fashion, in accordance with the local legal requirements.

Configuration

Once connected to the line, you can use the telephone to make or receive calls. In its initial state, the display will be off. When the handset is lifted, the display will show three dashes. The next few paragraphs describe the possible configurations that can be made via the telephone menu. To make the adjustments,

This telephone offers six different ringer volumes. To adjust, proceed as follows:

Setting the dialing mode (tone/pulse)

Your telephone must be programmed for TONE dialing or PULSE dialing, depending on the telephone line it is connected to. The default factory setting is TONE dialing with a flash time of 250 ms (DTMF)

Checking the dialing mode: Press any numeric key. If you can still hear

a dialing tone, change to the other dialing mode.

Changing the dialing mode: To set the dialing mode to PULSE or

TONE, proceed as follows:

MODE option

Press the SELECT key Use the ARROW keys to select the

desired option (TONE or PULSE) Press the SELECT key Press the MENU key

Temporary change of dialing mode: While the telephone is set to PULSE dialing

it may be necessary to temporarily change the dialing mode to TONE dialing.

• Example: You want to check your banking balance using a telebanking service. Make the call in the usual way, and once the connection has been established, press

. The dialing mode will now change to TONE dialing. When you have finished the call, hung up and the telephone will automatically revert to

PULSE dialing.

Other configurations

There are other configurations that can be accessed by using some codes, as is shown by the following:

If a configuration is made by mistake use the code 99 to return to the default configuration.

Receiving calls

When you receive a call, the telephone will emit a warning tone with the melody and the volume selected. To answer the call, lift the handset or press the HANDS-FREE key

to activate the hands free.

When you dial, the individual digits of the number dialed will appear on the display (position 13 on page 3) and the call will be initiated. . If the dialed number is recorded in the Phonebook, the display will show the name associated to this number (position 14 on page 3).

After a few seconds, the display no longer shows the number dialed, but the call timer with MM:SS (minutes and seconds) format.

Using the Phonebook to make a call

Lift the handset or press the HANDS-

FREE key and wait for the line tone

desired register or use the numeric keypad (see item Consulting the

Note:

If the last number dialed contains more than 32 digits, the REDIAL function will not work properly.

MUTE key

When you press the MUTE key

during a call, the microphone is switched off and the other party cannot hear you. The MUTE message will appear on the display while MUTE is activated. To resume a normal

conversation, press the MUTE key again. While MUTE is enabled, the other party will hear music on hold (MOH). If necessary, MOH can be disabled. When MOH is disabled, you will be able hear the other party whereas the other party will not be able to hear you.

Enabling MOH

PAUSE key

This key can be used when the telephone is connected to a PBX system. It inserts an interdigit pause (the default pause is 1 second – to change this setting see Other configurations on page 5), starting with the first digit when you press the PAUSE key

. These pauses are essential for some systems with extension lines and can be stored in the Phonebook, in memories and on the REDIAL key

. The display shows the character P above the number dialed to indicate the pause.

FLASH key (special features)

The FLASH key

allows you to use a

number of special features (call forward, call waiting, conference, etc.) provided when your telephone is connected to a digital Central Office or to a PBX system.

The default flash is 250 ms. It may be necessary to program a different flash time (see Other configurations on page 5). If you are not sure about the correct flash time, refer to the documentation of your PBX to check what the recommended time is.

Note:

These services must be contracted together with your local operator.

Memories

The telephone has 16 memories (position 12 on page 3). Each of these memories can store up to 16 digits.

Storing phone number in the memories

To store a new number in one of the 16 memories, proceed as follows:

If the number is already stored in the Phonebook, proceed as follows:

Note:

• Stored phone numbers can be

overwritten by storing other phone numbers in the memory.

• It is possible to store an external

telephone number in one of the memories when the telephone is connected to a PBX system. Simply insert the trunk access code followed by a pause (PAUSE key

) before the

phone number you want to store.

• It could be necessary to enter the area

code before the number.

Phonebook

This telephone offers a Phonebook with 100 positions for numbers and names. These numbers may store up to 16 digits and have a name with until 16 characters associated to it. The telephone will arrange the names in alphabetical order.

Storing in the Phonebook

To store the names and respective numbers, use the keypad as follows:

When the same key is pressed repeatedly, the display will present different characters alternatives associated to this key. If during two seconds the same key is not pressed, the phone will assume that the last character is correct and the cursor goes to the next position. To erase one character, just press the ARROW key

Note:

• When storing in the Phonebook, could be necessary to enter the area code before the number.

• It is possible to store an external telephone number in the Phonebook when the telephone is connected to a PBX system. Simply insert the trunk access code followed by a pause (PAUSE key

) before the phone

Consulting the Phonebook

To consult the Phonebook, lift the handset and press the PHONEBOOK key

. The first item is “< INSERT NEW >” (see Storing in the Phonebook on page 8), used to enter new names. The ARROW keys

and navigate through the entire Phonebook in alphabetical order (the navigation works cyclically when it gets to the end or the beginning of the list). And the numeric keys

to select the letters, in the same way as for names edition; the display moves to the first registry with the initial letter selected (or the following letter if there’s no registry with this first letter). The display will show the name and number of each registry.

Erasing registries of the Phonebook

To erase registries of the Phonebook, proceed as follows:

Key Lock

This telephone features a key lock for mobile phone calls (CELL), long-distance calls (LONG DISTANCE), international calls (INTERNATIONAL) and collect calls (COLLECT CALL). When the lock for longdistance calls is enabled, users cannot make calls to numbers that begin with 0. When the lock for international calls is enabled, users cannot make calls to numbers that begin with 00. When the lock for mobile phones is enabled, users cannot make calls to numbers that begin with 8 or

9. And when the lock for collect calls is enabled, a signal is sent after the handset is lifted or the hands free is activated, to disconnect the call. This might generate a little interruption in the beginning of the

received calls, that doesn’t damage the normal calls. The message “LOCKED” will be shown when a locked number is dialed.

Note:

• The lock for mobile phone calls may not work properly in some countries due to the numbering plan for mobile phones used in these countries.

• When the telephone is connected on a PBX system, the lock functions will not work properly.

Instalación

Configuración

Una vez conectado a la línea, el teléfono estará listo para realizar y recibir llamadas. Si el auricular está colgado, la pantalla queda apagada. Si el auricular no está colgado, la pantalla muestra tres rayas en el centro. A continuación será presentada la descripción de las configuraciones posibles de realizarse a través del menú del teléfono. Para realizar los ajustes, el auricular tiene que estar

descolgado.

Ajuste del volumen del timbre

Este teléfono posee seis volúmenes de timbre distintos. Para ajustar, proceder de la siguiente manera:

Selección del tipo de marcación (tono/pulso)

Dependiendo del tipo de marcación de su operadora, puede ser necesario ajustar en el aparato a discado por TONO (selección por multi-frecuencia) o por PULSO (selección por impulsos). En el estado de suministro, el aparato tiene ajustado el tipo de marcación a multifrecuencia con flash de 270 ms (multifrecuencial).

Modo de comprobación: Marque cualquier dígito. Si se sigue

oyendo la señal de marcar, habrá que cambiar el tipo de marcación.

Selección del tipo de marcación: Para ajustar el modo de marcación para

TONO o PULSO, proceder de la siguiente manera:

Contestación de una llamada

Tecla MUTE

Durante una llamada, al presionar la tecla MUTE

, el auricular desconectará la transmisión de voz y la persona con quien usted está hablando no podrá escucharle. El mensaje MUTE aparecerá en la pantalla mientras el MUTE esté activado. Para activar la conversación, presionar la tecla MUTE

nuevamente. Mientras el MUTE esté activo, la persona que estaba hablando con usted, escuchará la música de espera. La generación de música puede ser desactivada a través de programación. En caso de que la música estuviera desactivada, usted podrá escuchar a su interlocutor, sin que éste lo pueda oír a usted.

Tecla PAUSA

Puede ser utilizado cuando el teléfono está conectado a un PABX, insertando un tiempo entre los dígitos (el tiempo de pausa estándar es de 1 segundo - para programar otro tiempo de pausa vea el apartado Otras configuraciones en la página 14). Funciona después del primer dígito, presionando la tecla PAUSA

. Estas

pausas pueden ser programadas en la Agenda, en las memorias y en la tecla REDIAL

, siendo necesarias para algunos sistemas con internos. La pantalla presenta la letra P en el número marcado para indicar la pausa.

Tecla FLASH (servicios especiales)

La tecla FLASH

permite el acceso a determinados servicios especiales (transferencia de llamada, llamada en espera, desvío de llamada, entre otros), estando el teléfono conectado a una central telefónica pública digital o privada del tipo PABX. El teléfono viene programado de fábrica con el tiempo de flash de 250 ms. Puede hacerse necesario programar un tiempo diferente de flash (vea el apartado Otras Configuraciones en la página 14). En caso de que la tecla flash no funcione adecuadamente, consulte la documentación de su PABX, para verificar cual sería el tiempo más adecuado.

El teléfono posee 16 memorias (indicador 12 en la página 12). Cada una de las memorias puede tener, como máximo, 16 dígitos.

Almacenando números en las memorias

Para almacenar un nuevo número en una de las 16 memorias, proceda de la siguiente manera:

• Es posible borrar un número almacenado en una memoria específica programando otro número en su lugar.

• Es posible programar un número externo en una de las memorias si el teléfono está conectado a un sistema PABX. Para esto basta con introducir el código de

acceso a la línea externa, seguido de una pausa (pulsar la tecla PAUSA antes del número externo deseado.

• Para almacenar los números de teléfono en la Memoria, usted debe introducir el código de larga distancia antes del número, si el número de teléfono es de otra ciudad. Si es un número de teléfono de la misma ciudad, introduzca solamente el número sin el código de larga distancia.

Agenda

Este teléfono ofrece una Agenda con capacidad para almacenar hasta 100 nombres y números. Estos números pueden tener hasta 16 dígitos y tener un nombre asociado de hasta16 caracteres. El teléfono organiza los nombres de la Agenda en orden alfabético.

Almacenando en la Agenda

Para almacenar los nombres y sus respectivos números de teléfono, utilice el teclado de la siguiente manera:

Cuando pulsamos repetidamente la misma tecla, la pantalla presenta las distintas alternativas de caracteres asociados a esta tecla. Si durante dos segundos la misma tecla no es pulsada nuevamente, el teléfono asumirá que el último dígito presentado está correcto y el cursor avanzará a la posición siguiente. Para borrar un dígito, basta pulsar la tecla FLECHA

o .

Nota:

• Para almacenar los números de teléfono en la Agenda, usted debe introducir el código de larga distancia antes del número, si el número de teléfono es de otra ciudad. Si es un número de teléfono de la misma ciudad, introduzca solamente el número sin el código de larga distancia.

• Es posible programar un número externo en la Agenda si el teléfono está conectado a un sistema PABX. Para esto basta con introducir el código de acceso a la línea externa, seguido de una pausa (pulsar la tecla PAUSA

) antes del

número externo deseado.

• Cuando la Agenda esté llena, al pulsar la tecla AGENDA para almacenar un nuevo número, el teléfono mostrará el mensaje “AGENDA LLENA”.

17), usada para introducir nuevos nombres. Las teclas FLECHA

y navegan por los registros de la Agenda en orden alfabético (la navegación opera de forma circular cuando llega al final o inicio de la lista). Las teclas numéricas

a seleccionan directamente las letras, igual a la edición de nombres. La pantalla se mueve hacia al primero registro con la letra inicial seleccionada (o de la letra siguiente si no existe ningún nombre en la Agenda con esta primera letra) y presentará el nombre y número de cada registro.

Borrando números de la Agenda

Para borrar números de la Agenda, proceda de la siguiente manera:

Bloqueo

Este teléfono permite el bloqueo de llamadas para celulares (BLOQ CELULAR), de larga distancia nacionales (BLOQUEO LD) e internacionales (BLOQ INTERNAC), así como a cobro revertido

(LLAM A COBRAR). Estando el aparato programado para bloqueo de llamadas a celulares, no es posible realizar llamadas para números iniciados en 8 o 9. Si está programado para bloqueo de llamadas a larga distancia nacionales, no es posible realizar llamadas para números iniciados en 0. Si está programado para bloqueo de llamadas internacionales, no es posible realizar llamadas para números iniciados en 00. Si se ha programado el bloqueo de llamadas a cobro revertido, se emite una señal de liberación tras descolgar el microteléfono o al activar la comunicación manos libres para liberar la llamada. Esto puede ocasionar una pequeña interrupção, pero no afectará en modo alguno a las llamadas normales. El mensaje “BLOQUEADO” aparecerá en la pantalla cuando un número esté con el bloqueo habilitado.

Nota:

• La opción de bloqueo para móviles puede no funcionar correctamente en algunos países debido a los sistemas de numeración para los teléfonos móviles.

• Si el teléfono está conectado a un PABX las funciones de bloqueo no funcionarán correctamente.

Garantía (Válida para Argentina)

Siemens S.A. de Argentina, importador o fabricante y distribuidor exclusivo, garantiza el buen funcionamiento de este equipo por el período de 12 (doce) meses a partir de la fecha de compra. En el caso de pilas o baterías el período de garantía es de 6 (seis) meses a partir de la fecha de compra. Esta garantía cubre el normal funcionamiento contra cualquier defecto de fabricación y/o vicio de material, y habilita al portador a obtener (a criterio de Siemens S.A.) la reparación o reemplazo del producto defectuoso sin cargo alguno para el adq uirente cuando el mismo fallare en situaciones normales de uso y bajo las condiciones que a continuación se detallan:

1. En caso de traslado del producto al Centro de Servicio Técnico Autorizado, el transporte será realizado por el responsable de la garantía y estarán a su cargo los gastos de flete y seguro.

2. Serán causas de anulación de esta garantía:

2.1. Fallas atribuibles al manejo inadecuado del producto, tales como roturas, golpes, caídas o rayaduras

causadas por traslado, maltrato, etc.

2.2. Comprobación de reparaciones, modificaciones o desarmes realizados por personal ajeno al Servicio Técnico de Siemens S.A.

2.3. Daños o fallas ocasionados por factores externos a Siemens S.A., tales como deficiencias o interrupciones del circuito de alimentación eléctrica, descargas atmosféricas o condiciones ambientales inapropiadas o defectos de instalación.

2.4. Instalación de pilas o baterías distintas a las especificadas en el manual de uso.

2.5. Instalación y/o utilización en condiciones distintas a las marcadas en el “Manual de instalación y/o Manual de

usuario.

2.6. Utilización de accesorios no originales o no especificados en el manual de uso.

2.7. Enmiendas o tachaduras en los datos de la factura de compra.

2.8. Falta de factura de compra original.

2.9. Falta de fecha en la factura de compra.

3. No están cubiertos por esta garantía los daños ocasionados al exterior del gabinete.

4. En caso de falla, Siemens S.A. asegura al comprador la reparación en un plazo no mayor a 30 días.

5. Siemens S.A. asegura que este producto cumple con las normas de seguridad vigentes en el país.

6. El presente certificado anula cualquier otra garantía implícita o explícita por lo tanto, no autorizamos a ninguna

persona, sociedad o asociación a asumir por nuestra cuenta ninguna otra responsabilidad con respecto a nuestros productos.

7. La presente garantía se prolongará por el tiempo que el usuario se encuentre privado del producto con motivo de reparaciones incluídas en la garantía.

8. El Manual de Uso e Instalación adjunto es parte integrante del presente Certificado de Garantía.

9. Consultas sobre el funcionamiento o reparación dentro o fuera de la garantía comuníquese con nuestro

Customer Care Center al teléfono que se indica al pie de la presente. Importante: para el reemplazo de pilas o baterías de cada producto, le solicitamos remitirse exclusivamente a las

indicaciones definidas en el manual de uso.
