In the seca 780/1/2/3 electronic personal scale you have acquired a highly accurate and at the same time sturdy piece of equipment. seca has been putting its experience at the service of health for over 150 years, and as market leader in many countries of the world, is always setting new standards with its innovative weighing and measuring developments. The seca 780/1/2/3 electronic personal scale is designed for private use and also for use in public institutions. Weight display can be switched between kilogrammes (kg), pounds (Ibs) and stones (sts). The seca 781 are digital-display scales with an LCD display. They have the new mother-and-baby function with Auto­Hold display and display your weight up to 150 kg, 330 lbs or 23 st in 50 g, 2 oz or 0.1 lb graduations. The seca 782 differ from the seca 780 in that they have a permanent display and an external power supply.

Follow the instructions in the instructions for use.
Use only the type of battery stated (see ,,Changing the batteries 780/781/783).
Use only the mains unit supplied (782/783).
Do not drop the scale or subject it to violent shocks.
Have repairs carried out only by authorised persons.

Before you start
Setting up the scales
Remove all packaging.The scales are easiest and safest to put together if you place the weighing platform face-down on a table (ideally over 77 cm high).

The column with the LCD display is fitted to the weighing platform. – Guide the connecting cable through the
opening.
Place the column in the opening.Screw the column to the weighing
platform from underneath. If necessary, lay the scale carefully on its side in order to tighten up the screws.
– Connect the plug of the connecting
cable to the rear of the scale.
– Then stand the scale upright again.
Installing and changing batteries (seca 780 / 781 / 783)
Insert batteries in the battery bracket. Press the lock in the lid of the battery compartment in the direction of the word BATTERY and flip open the lid. Press

buttons of the battery bracket and insert this in the battery compartment. Close the lid again and engage the lock – thats it.

Start scales and set to zero

Mains operation (seca 782 / 783 )
The scale is powered by a mains unit. The connection socket for the mains unit is in the base of the scale.

Weighing
Is the display on zero? Then you can start! Simply stand on the scales and keep still. The display now shows your weight.
You must check before connecting the equipment whether the AC voltage given on the mains unit matches the local mains voltage given on your electricity meter.
Carefully tilt the scale to one side so that the base of the scale is accessible.
Plug the latching plug of the mains unit into the connection socket in the base of the scale.
Stand the scale back up again.
Connect the mains unit to a power
socket.
If the digital display now comes on, switch off the scale using the START key.
Switching between kg/lbs/sts
If you want weight displayed in a unit other than the one displayed, then press the kg/ lbs switch on the display surface after switching the scales on or during weighing. The unit selected is shown by the indicator kg, lbs or "sts" on the right­hand side of the display. In order to display stones, you must keep the key for switching between kg/lbs/sts depressed for at least 2 seconds. Pressing the key briefly takes you back to a kg display. Holding it down for a long time (at least 2 seconds) switches you between lbs and sts. The scales always start with the unit they were displaying when switched off.

Automatic switch-off/economy mode
The scale automatically detects whether it is being operated on rechargeable batteries alone or whether it is connected to the mains.
With rechargeable battery operation:
automatic shut-down after 30 seconds.
With mains operation: shut-down only
via keypad.
Temperature changes
If the scales are exposed to a severe change in temperature either before or during use, then to avoid small measurement errors, you should wait 15 minutes for the scales to adapt to the new temperature. A flashing display indicates that the scales are being operated during temperature changes which are too severe.
