Audio Adjustments
Introduction to built-in DSP
features
Important
We recommend that you record the settings in
the sheet on page 135 after you have completed
audio adjustments.
DSP modes
This unit features two DSP modes: the network mode and the standard mode. You can
switch between DSP modes as desired. Initially, the DSP mode is set to the standard
mode. (Refer to Switching the DSP settingmode on page 117.)
! Auto TA and EQ can be used for the stan-
dard mode only. (Refer to Auto TA and EQ
(auto-time alignment and auto-equalizing)
on page 106 and Using the auto-equalizer
on page 105.)
! A 2-way front speaker output can be used
for the network mode only.
Note
Switching the DSP mode erases the current adjusting audio settings (LAST MEMORY). If
needed, memorize it into custom settings
(CUSTOM1, CUSTOM2 or CUSTOM3).
Output channel modes
(2CH/Multi CH)
This unit has two output channel modes for
each DSP mode: the 2-channel mode and the
multi-channel mode. You can switch between
output channel modes depending on the
source that you have selected.
! Dolby Pro Logic II/Dolby Digital EX and DTS
Neo:6 (Dolby/DTS) can be used for multichannel mode only.
! Graphic equalizer (GRAPHIC EQ) can be
used for 2-channel mode only.
! Parametric equalizer (PARAMETRIC EQ)
can be used for multi-channel mode only.
Note
When selecting 2-channel mode, audio does not
be output from front center and rear center
speakers.
Sound settings (SETTING1,
SETTING2 or SETTING3)
Created acoustic sound field can be stored in
this unit and called up easily. Additionally, this
unit stores the sound setting and output channel information for each source group. Changing the source switches sound setting and
output channel information for each source
group at the same time.
Three types of sound settings can be set and
stored for both 2-channel mode and multichannel mode independently. Moreover,
sound settings can be stored for both the network mode and the standard mode. Therefore,
a total of 12 types of sound settings can be set
and stored.
! Auto TA and EQ can be performed only
when the standard mode is selected. Performing Auto TA and EQ creates auto settings (AUTO) which are adjusted finely for
both 2-channel mode and multi-channel
mode. However, AUTO cannot be customized.
Source groups
Each source stores both sound settings and
output channels information. When a DVD
player (built-in or optional) is selected as a
source, the each medium stores these settings
independently.
Media of DVD player are listed as follows:
! DVD audio

Custom settings (CUSTOM1, CUSTOM2
and CUSTOM3)

the custom settings (CUSTOM1, CUSTOM2
and CUSTOM3). Custom settings are common to Sound settings (SETTING1, SETTING2
and SETTING3).
! Speaker setting (SPEAKER SETTING)
! Cut-off frequency setting (CUT OFF)
! Time alignment setting
First, perform Auto TA and EQ. Auto TA and
EQ creates finely-tuned sound field for both 2channel mode and multi-channel mode according to your vehicle interior acoustic characteristics. (Refer to Auto TA and EQ (auto-timealignment and auto-equalizing) on page 106.)
If AUTO TA and EQ has been completed,
sound setting is set to AUTO.
Basically, that’s all you need to do to adjust
the audio setting and no other fine tuning is
necessary.
However, according to your wishes, it is possible to customize audio settings based on Auto
TA and EQ settings. By carrying out the following settings/adjustments in the order shown,
