The E-10 SLR features a fully multi-
coated, 14-element, 11-group lens with ED
and aspherical glass and an f 2.0 – 2.4 4x
zoom. That alone tells you this is no ordi-
nary lens, digital or otherwise.
But the real story behind the E-10’s
lens is in the way it captures an image.
In a film lens, an image carried by
light is directed at a layer of silver halide
below the film’s translucent surface. Since
this layer is flat, light can expose the film
from any angle and still result in excellent
focus and resolution.

technology uses every pixel to
make your image, at all resolutions. It then micro-smooths the
pixels to provide true continuous-tone images.
In a digital camera, the surface of the
CCD is made up of pixels. These pixels are
tiny wells that record the information car-
ried by light. In the E-10’s 4.0 million pixel
CCD, the pixels are so small that angled
light won’t fill them properly. So to take full
advantage of the E-10’s advanced CCD, we

developed a lens that would direct light
precisely into each pixel well, filling them
properly and resulting in exceptionally fine
focus and resolution.

The all-aluminum body performs two important functions. It acts as
a heat sink to keep the high-resolution CCD cool and keep electronic
noise out of your pictures. And it provides the strength to make the
E-10 a durable, daily use camera.
The E-10’s advanced metering system
quickly determines exposure under
a variety of difficult lighting condi-
tions. Use digital ESP multi-pattern
metering, center-weighted metering
or spot metering.

8" in macro mode.

Sometimes it’s well-planned. That’s why the
E-10 gives you the option of fully automatic
controls or fully manual controls.
Like to always be ready? The E-10
SLR’s dual autofocus system is precise and
lightning-fast. Nothing will get by you. Or
If you’re used to instinctively focusing
manually, you’re probably also the kind of
photographer who will appreciate the E-10’s
manual zoom ring. And since it works inde-
pendent of the exposure controls, you can
shoot and zoom at the same time.
For rich, true colors and clean whites,
the E-10 gives you a number of ways to set
white balance. You can choose iESP (intelligent
Electronic Selective Pattern) TTL auto white
balance. Or choose from seven preset white

balance settings ranging from 3000˚K to
7500˚K. Or set the one-touch manual white
balance using a sheet of white paper, for
example, as a reference point.
To help you quickly dial in on your
exposure, switch on auto bracketing to take
three quick images of your subject. The first
shot will be underexposed, the next frame
normal and the last frame overexposed. You
can bracket in 1/3, 2/3 or full stops.
Another valuable tool the E-10 gives
you is a histogram. During image playback,
a bar graph displays distribution of lights and
darks to help you adjust exposure. It’s a quick
way to tell if whites might blow out or blacks
might plug up.

As you’d expect, the E-10’s built-in flash
operates in a variety of modes. You can
choose from auto flash for low- and back-
light conditions, red-eye reducing flash,
fill-in (forced on) flash and flash off to take
advantage of natural light.
And going beyond what you’d expect
from a digital camera of this caliber, the
E-10’s flash is an exclusive scene-detecting
flash. So if your subject is standing off to one
side at dusk, the flash compensates and
makes sure the right amount of light is fired.

Photography is the
art of using light.
Aside from its many exposure controls,
the E-10 SLR offers other ways to help you
use light to make beautiful pictures.
In-camera metering is fast and accurate
in a variety of difficult lighting situations.
Our digital ESP multi-pattern metering
measures light from multiple areas of the
image. Center-weighted metering concen-
trates on light in the center of the viewfinder.
And Spot metering concentrates on a much
smaller area (about 1.6%) in the center of
the viewfinder.
Of course, another way photographers
work with light is by generating it. The E-10
external flash to the E-10’s hot shoe. You’ll
increase your flash distance to more than 30
feet, and have greater control. When used with
the E-10, the FL-40 also works as a scene-
detecting flash. And for studio work, a PC
Sync lets you easily connect to studio strobes.
The E-10 SLR handles the most
difficult and diverse lighting
conditions with ease. For
instance, it faithfully captures
every nuance of Hollywood’s
magnificent Pantages Theatre.
Great photos are the whole point of our advanced digital technology.
These extension lenses are fully multi-coated and
are perfectly matched to the E-10 SLR’s 4x zoom lens.
Without the included lens hood, you’d need one hand
to hold your E-10, one hand to adjust manual focus or
zoom, and one hand to shade your lens from direct light.

though maybe a bit thicker. And you
can print right from your E-10, with
