3. Set Up an Instant Mesh WiFi connection
Install the Instant Mesh WiFi Extender with an Insight Instant Mesh WiFi connection.
Other setup methods
You can use the NETGEAR Insight
Cloud portal to set up your WiFi
extender. The Insight Cloud portal
is available to Insight Premium and
Insight Pro subscribers.
You can also use the local browser
interface to set up the WiFi extender.

Support
1. Log Into NETGEAR Insight
1. On your mobile device, visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for
NETGEAR Insight, and download the latest version of the app.
2. Open the NETGEAR Insight app on your mobile device.
3. If you did not set up a NETGEAR account, tap Create NETGEAR Account and
follow the onscreen instructions.
4. Enter the email address and password for your account and tap LOG IN.
2. Power on the Instant Mesh WiFi Extender
When you connect your WiFi extender to a power source, the Power LED on the back
of the WiFi extender lights amber and then lights green. If the Power LED does not
light, press the Power On/Off button.
During installation and setup, the WiFi extender ring LED lights in the following colors:
Solid amber. The WiFi extender is booting.
Slow pulsing amber. The WiFi extender is attempting to receive an IP address
from the router.
Pulsing red, green, and blue. Mesh network setup in progress.
Green pulse. The WiFi extender is ready to set up with Insight through a local
network connection.
Blue pulse. The WiFi extender is connected to the Insight cloud.

1. Log in to the SSID for the WiFi network where you want to add the WiFi extender.
2. In the Insight app, tap + in the upper-right corner.
3. Add the Instant Mesh WiFi Extender (WAC564) to your account using one of these
options:
• Scan the serial number bar code.
• Scan the QR code.
• Type in the serial number.
4. Tap Go and follow the onscreen instructions to add your WiFi extender to a
network location.
The Instant Mesh WiFi Extender communicates with NETGEAR Insight to identify
nearby mesh-capable root access points, such as a NETGEAR Insight Managed
Smart Cloud Wireless Access Point (WAC540) acting as a gateway.
When NETGEAR Insight Instant Mesh identies the root access point with the
strongest signal, it connects your WiFi Extender to this root access point.
Your Instant Mesh WiFi Extender connects over WiFi to the root access point using
tri-band radio, with preferred 5 GHz high WiFi backhaul extending the network
backbone to provide internet connectivity. Both the fast 5 GHz high and low
fronthaul/backhaul, and the longer-range 2.4 GHz fronthaul, serve client devices
connected to your Insight Instant Mesh network.
