To prevent accidental battery ignition or explosion, adhere to the

following:

Keep the battery away from extreme heat.

Keep metal objects away from the battery connector to prevent a short circuit.

Make sure the battery is properly installed in the battery bay.

Do not alter or disassemble the battery.

Read any precautions printed on the battery.

Keep the following in mind when removing or replacing a battery.

Use only the battery designed for your system in your NEC Versa notebook computer. Mixing other manufacturers’ batteries, or using a combination of very old and new batteries can deteriorate battery and equipment performance.

Clean the battery connector with a dry cloth when it gets dirty.

Keep the battery out of the reach of children.

Features

The NEC VersaBay IV 6-cell secondary battery can be installed in the VersaBay IV slot, for use in addition to the primary battery. See the following figure for features.

Removing a Device from the NEC VersaBay IV Slot

Before installing your new NEC VersaBay IV drive, remove any device or the weight-saving module (if in place) from the VersaBay IV slot as follows.

If a VersaBay IV drive is in the slot, use the Phoenix® BaySwap™ utility or power off the system. (See your printed user’s guide for information about the Phoenix BaySwap utility.)

If a VersaBay IV weight-saving module is in the VersaBay IV slot, skip to step 2.

Locate the NEC VersaBay IV release latch to the right of the VersaBay IV slot.

Flip the latch to the open position. Then press the latch into the system to eject the device.

Pull the device out of the system.
