Lexicon 700t Quick Start Manual

Lexicon 700t
Quick Start Guide
The 700t System Controller is designed to provide simple, fast control of even the most sophisticated home theater and multimedia presentation systems. By providing a unique graphical interface, the 700t can replace a clutter of remote controls and sheets of instructions. An elegant blue and paper-white touchscreen housed in an ergonomic, rugged ABS enclosure, the 700t is a powerful controller that is incredibly simple to use. Even the most complicated systems can be operated without peering into manuals and grasping for tiny buttons on little black plastic remotes.
Software and Files
All software and files necessary for programming the 700t are available from the
Lexicon web site:
http://www.lexicon.com/downloads/700t_files_downloads.htm
Download LexiDraw 3.51--ld35inst(1).exe
Double click on the file and follow the prompts to install LexiDraw
Download sample_system.all and place it in the “All” subfolder in the LexiDraw
folder (using default installation the location would be Program Files/LexiDraw/All)
This .all file can be adapted for your own use, rather than having to make a
program from scratch
Download Lexicon’s.bml and place it in the “Bitmaps” subfolder
Download Lexicon’s.cbl and place it in the “Custom” subfolder
Download master.cml and place it in the “Commands” subfolder

• Standard Windows pulldown menus are available at the top of the screen
• A toolbar with commonly used commands is located just under the pulldown menus
Programming the 700t
• Programming the 700t can be broken down into 6 steps
– Creating pages – Placing buttons – Assigning pages – Commands – Creating macros – Sending your program to the 700t/TCM-3
Creating Pages
• When starting a new program (.all file), the Main Menu page is created automatically
• Additional pages may be added at any time using the New Page command (Page/New
Page)
• Navigate from page to page using the menu on the left (the tack icon keeps the menu
pulled down at all times)
• Page Wizard (Page/Page Wizard) creates a new page of a standard type complete with
buttons
Placing Buttons
Draw buttons by selecting a button shape from the left side of the Tools palette
After selecting, click once to make a small button of selected typeClick and drag to make a larger button
Place custom buttons and bitmaps using the “Place Custom Button” and “Place
Bitmap” tools on the Tools palette
Right clicking a button allows for several options
Edit propertiesCreate macroDelete commandCopy, cut, or delete buttonAssign page to button
Assigning Pages
• Assigning a page to a button causes the 700t to go to that page when the button is
pressed.
• 3 Methods to assign a page to a button
Right click on button, select “assign page to button” and click on page to assignOn the Tools pulldown menu, select “assign page” and drag page from right side to
the button to be assigned to
Click “assign pages” tool on the Tools palette, click on button to be assigned, then
click the page to be assigned to that button
• In addition to regular pages, there are selections for “none,” “previous,” and “special
functions”
Commands
Open the command library by selecting “Command Library” using either the Tools
palette or the Tools pulldown menu
If no commands are visible, click “Open Library” at the bottom of the Command
Library box and open master.cml
Select the manufacturer, type, and model of a component
Click and drag a command from the list to the button you want to have that command
Repeat for each button
If the commands for the component are not in the library, you will need to capture the
codes
IR Capture
To capture codes, you will need a 700t, a PC, a LexiDraw cable, the “donor” remote,
and fresh batteries
On the 700t, enter the Special Functions menu, select “Program,” and then “IR
Capture”
Ensure that the remotes are aligned properly and that the 700t is receiving a signal
when buttons are pressed on the donor remote
Switch the 700t to “Capture”
In LexiDraw, open the IR Library Manager (available under Library)
In IR Library Manager, open master.cml
In the Edit View window select “New” (NOT under File--that would create a new .cml
file)
Select the manufacturer, type, and enter the model of component for the remote to be
learned
Click “Wizard” and check buttons to keep, uncheck buttons not needed
Click “OK” and manually add any buttons that were not in the wizard
Click “OK” and then “Learn IR”
Follow the prompts on the screen (Press and hold the “XXXX” key)
A progress indicator will appear momentarily, then the IR Library software will go to
the next command to be learned
Repeat the process until all codes for the donor remote are learned and repeat for other
remotes not in library
Close IR library manager--library is saved automatically
Codes from the donor remote are now available in master.cml
Creating Macros
Click “Edit Macro” on the Tools palette and then click the button you want to create a
macro for
There are 7 basic command types--infrared from library, infrared from page, time
delay, TCM-3 relay control, TCM-3 power sync input, button hold test, and button pause
To add a command, click and drag the command (or icon at the bottom) to the left side
and drop it in the sequence where you want it
To get rid of a command already placed in the macro sequence, click and drag the
command to the trash can
To change the sequence of commands, click and drag a command to a different place
Creating Macros IR Commands and Time Delay
• The “Infrared from library” command type allows you to select any IR command that
is in the currently selected library for inclusion in the macro
• The “Infrared from page” command type allows you to select any IR command on any
page in the current .all file
• The “Time delay” command type allows you to insert a pause in the macro sequence
to allow a component time to process a command
Set the length of delayClick and drag the clock icon over to the macro sequence
Creating Macros TCM-3 Commands
• When using a TCM-3 in conjunction with a 700t, relay control and power sync
command types can be used
• The “Relay Control” command type allows you to turn off or turn on any of the three
relays on the TCM-3.
These relays can be used to drop screens, close blinds, etc.
• The “Power Sync” command type allows an if-then statement based on the power
status of either of the power sync inputs on the TCM-3 to be included in the sequence
Useful to avoid turning off components that are already on if the component does
not have separate on and off commands
Creating Macros Button Hold and Button Pause
• The “Button Hold” command type allows an if-then statement based on the status of
whether the button is held down or not
Example--if button is held then complete the following sequence of commands
• The “Button Pause” command type tells the macro to pause at that point until the
button is released
• When finished adding steps to the macro, click “OK”
