Field Measure:
Please replace DR-590B with the new one (No.1 or No.2) when the phenomenon described below occurs.
Serial Nos. of the Affected Machines: Please refer to the following.

Joint gears (X and Y are inserted into the same shaft):
By switching the gear Z by the worm gear when switching to full-color
mode, the gear X is shifted to thrust direction to engage the gear Y or
to release.

Topic
In a rare case, if the ribs of the joint gears contact each other when switching to the full-color mode (when engaging
the gears), the worm gear might skip the teeth of its opposite gear Z due to the excessive loads applied to the
developer drive gears engagement mechanism when the engagement operation momentarily stops, which might
cause some abnormal noise. As the countermeasures, the shape of the joint gears was changed as follows in order
to reduce the loads applied at gear engagement.
Content of Changes
The rib shapes at the engagement side of the joint gears (X, Y) of the drum/developer drive unit (DR-590B) were
partly cut in order to avoid the contact with their surface.
