Colour registration shift in the main scanning direction

Contents
If the values of [Color Registration Data] at maintenance mode U468 , is “100” or more due to certain factors,
the colour calibration may fail and colour registration in the main scanning direction may not be improved. In this
case maintenance mode U468 [Initialize] should be performed. In this case all the values of Auto and Manual are
reset to “0”. Execute the colour registration adjustment according to the below mentioned procedure.

Start
1. Execute U468 [Initialize]
2. Execute [Calibration] from [System menu]
3.1. Execute [System Menu] [Color Registration]
[Detail] [Print Chart]
3.2. Check the point where 2 lines are mostly aligned
3.3. Select [Registration] and input values as checked
above

3.4. All the values : 0
4. Execute the U000 to print the maintenance report
No
5. U468 data are within ±50 range
6. Execute [Calibration ] from [System Menu] again
Check values unchanged when executing

Flow chart details
2. Execute [System Menu] > [Adjustment/Maintenance] > [Calibration]
First, execute [System Menu] > [Calibration] and next [System Menu] > [Color Registration] when adjusting the
color registration. If [Calibration] is omitted and [Color Registration] is executed, the color registration is then
adjusted but the color registration shift may be again observed later.
3. Select [System menu] > [Adjustment/Maintenance] > [Color Registration] > [Detail]
2.1. Execute [Print Chart]
2.2. Find the values where 2 lines of black and color (Magenta, Cyan and Yellow) are mostly aligned.
If it is 0, no adjustment is needed. For example in the Fig.1, “B” is the value to set.
If the center of color lines (Magenta, Cyan and Yellow) is shifted upwards against the black line and it is out
of [9], judge it [9]. If the center of colour lines (Magenta, Cyan and Yellow) is shifted downwards against the
black line and it is out of [I], judge it [I]. Refer to the example in Fig.2.

Judgement of [I]
The center of the colour lines (Magenta) shift
downwards against the center of the black
lines. No colour is closely aligned to the black
line between [0] an is it is out of [I].
3. Select [Registration] and input the values as checked above.
4. Repeat the above procedures 1 through 3 until the values where the colour lines are mostly aligned with the
black lines reach 0.
In case the values where the colour lines (Magenta, Cyan and Yellow) are mostly aligned with the black lines
are 9 or I or more, or no aligned lines are found, the above procedures needs to be repeated several times.
