Avoid risk of fatal electric shock and re

• If the cord or the plug are damaged, do not operate the appliance. Return the appliance to the Nespresso Club or to a Nespresso authorised representative.
• If an extension cord is required, use only an earthed cord with a conductor cross- section of at least
1.0 mm2 or matching input power.
• To avoid hazardous damage, never place the appliance on or beside hot surfaces such as radiators, stoves, ovens, gas burners, open ame, or similar.
• Always place it on a horizontal, stable and even surface. The surface must be resistant to heat and uids, like water, coee, descaler or similar liquids.
• Disconnect the appliance from the mains when not in use for a long period. Disconnect by pulling out the plug and not by pulling the cord itself or the cord may become damaged.
• Before cleaning and servicing, remove the plug from the mains socket and let the appliance cool down.
• To disconnect the appliance, stop any preparation, then remove the plug from the power socket.

Avoid possible harm when operating the appliance
• Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
• Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or not operating perfectly. Immediately remove the plug from the power socket. Contact the Nespresso Club or Nespresso authorised representative for examination, repair or adjustment.
• A damaged appliance can cause electrical shocks, burns and re.
• Risk of scalding by hot liquids. If the machine is forced open hot liquids and coee grounds may
splash. Always lock the system completely and never open it during operation.
• Do not put ngers under coee outlet, risk of scalding.
• Do not insert ngers into capsule compartment when machine head is closing. Risk of injury.
• Do not put ngers into the capsule compartment or capsule shaft, risk of injury!
• Be careful not to injure yourself on sharp points or trap your ngers when reaching inside the machine.
• Never use a damaged or deformed capsule.
• Always ll the water tank with fresh drinking water.
• Empty water tank if the appliance will not be used for an extended time (holidays, etc.).
• Do not use any other liquid (such as cow’s milk, soya milk, enriched milks, avoured liquids, etc.).

• Replace water in water tank when the appliance is not operated for a weekend or a similar period of time.
• Do not use the appliance without a cup placed at the suitable cup support level and ensure the cup support is in place after any usage, to avoid spilling any liquid on surrounding surfaces.
• Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the appliance.
• Use fresh and clean tools (fresh and clean cloths, fresh and clean sponges, clean paper towels) to execute the cleaning of the equipment.
• When unpacking the machine, remove the plastic lm and dispose.
• This appliance is designed for Nespresso Vertuo coee capsules
available exclusively through the Nespresso Club or your Nespresso authorised representative.
• All Nespresso appliances pass stringent controls. Reliability tests under practical conditions are performed randomly on selected units. This can show traces of any previous use.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may result in re, electric shock or injury to persons.

Descaling
Nespresso descaling agent, when used correctly, helps ensure the proper functioning of your machine over its lifetime and that your coee experience is as perfect as the rst day.
• For coee and coee&milk machines, descale according to user manual recommendations or specic alerts.

COFFEE PREPARATION
10. Inser t a capsule with the dome shape at t he bottom. Be carefu l not to injure yourself on sharp point s or trap your ngers when reac hing inside the machine.
NOTE: to avoid damaging the ma chine, use only
fresh, unuse d capsules. Ensure previous c apsule has been ejected b efore inserting a fr esh one.
12. Pu sh the button to star t the coee preparation. It wi ll take some time be fore the coee ow comes out (due to barcode reading and co ee pre-wetting).
NOTE: the machine will au tomatically recognise the
inserted cap sule and select the coee preparation p arameters and cup length de ned by Nespresso coee exp erts to extr act the coee blend at i ts best.

ENERGY SAVING CONCEPT
PROGRAMMING THE WATER VOLUME
The machine can be t urned “OFF” at any time by holding the bu tton for 3 seconds . Automatic “OFF” M ode: the machine will turn o automatically af ter 9 minutes of non-use.

1. The program ming is specic to each capsule size, Alto, Mug, G ran Lungo or Espre sso. Cup sizes can be programmed f rom 10 ml to 500 ml.
3. Push and hold the b utton until desired vo lume is reached.
4. Water volume level is now stored for t he capsule size used for the programming.
2. Open the machine hea d; Inser t the capsule blend you want to program; Close th e head; Lock the machine.
NOTE: once a custom er-speci c volume is programmed by the user, every t ime that capsule
size is inser ted in the machine, the preparation w ill stop at the user-programmed cup s ize.

CLEANING
The machine has a pre dened cleaning procedure that c an be launched at user discretio n.

This machine is equipped with a descaling alert: the light will blink alternately 3 times, then become steady. Machine can only be operated to make coee a f ew more times once the alert app ears before descaling becomes mandatory.
17. Descaling is completed. Allow the machine to dr y for 10 minutes before using i t.

The machine ha s turned “OFF” autom atically; push the bu tton or “UNLOCK” th e machine. Check the mai ns, plug, voltage, and f use.
Check that the wate r tank is lled. Check that a f resh capsule is ins erted in corre ct position, th at the lever is proper ly locked and push the b utton to star t. Descale if necessary. Open the machine hea d and let the capsule b e ejected. Then p erform a cleanin g as per cleaning sec tion.
Preheat cup with hot d rinking water fro m the tap. Descale if necessary.
Check that lever is p roperly locked. If you want to brew a Coe e or Espresso, che ck that a fresh cap sule is inserte d in correct posi tion, that the lever is p roperly locked and p ush the button to s tart. If you are cleaning, des caling or emptyin g the system, che ck that no capsule is in serted then clo se, lock the machine an d push the butto n to start one of the se operations .
Fill the water tank and p ush button to st art. Check that lever is p roperly locked.
If coee is owing no rmally, this indicates t he machine is workin g properly. If only water is owing, t he machine is execu ting a user reques t for either cleani ng, descaling or empt ying the sys tem. Refer to the corr esponding parag raph in this user manual. If there is no intentio n to clean, descale, or em pty the system, t hen push the but ton to stop the machin e. If the machine is sti ll blinking, exit de scaling mode by holdi ng the button fo r at least
7 seconds o r refer to next se ction.
If problem persi sts, call the Nespresso Club.
It will take some time b efore the coee  ow comes out (due to barcode r eading and pre-wet ting the coee). Check that a fre sh capsule is inser ted in correct p osition, that the le ver is properly loc ked and push the but ton to start. Fill the water t ank and push button t o start. Turn the machine to “OFF mod e” by pushing the but ton for 3 seconds a nd then push it again to tu rn the machine “ON”. Now wait app roximately 20 minutes t o allow the machine to cool
down af ter extensive us e.
If the machine doe sn’t turn “OFF” then ex it descaling mod e by pushing the but ton for at least 7 seco nds.
During regular Co ee/ Espresso p reparation : 1) Unl ock the lever and open t he machine
head to chec k that a fresh undamag ed capsule is inser ted in the corre ct position;
2) Check th at the lever is in “LOCKED ” position 3) Che ck that the water tan k is lled.
During Descaling, Emptying and Cleaning: 1) Che ck that capsule is eje cted 2) Check that
the lever is in “LO CKED” positio n.
During Programming Volume: 1) Che ck if a capsule has bee n well inserted 2) Pleas e refer
to the corresponding chapter.
If problem persists:
1. Unlo ck the lever and open ma chine head.
2. Replace capsule (if needed).
3. Discon nect powercord f rom the outlet and p lug the machine back int o outlet after
10 seconds.
4. Close the h ead and press the but ton to turn “ON” an d press again to star t brewing. If pro blem persists , call the Nespresso Club.
