ILCS 2.0 UPGRADE KIT
INSTRUCTION SHEET
INTRODUCTION
The ILCS 2.0 Upgrade Kit c onsists of an ILCS controller chip, external memory module (circuit board) with mounting
bracket, data cable, and manuals. The enhanced version 2.0 ILCS WinReporter PC software (sold separately) is
required to print reports from version 2.0 ILCS systems. The advantages of upgrading the ILCS system include:
• Expands the batch tracking memory from 750 time stamps to 6000 time stamps.
• Increases the number of users from 50 to 400.
• Increases the number of chemical formulas from 50 to 99.
• Version 2.0 ILCS WinReporter PC software (sold separately) uses a KCI module to communicate with the ILCS
system, greatly improving communication speed for printing reports, or programming the setup. This new version
is backward compatible with older ILCS systems.
INSTALLATION
Before upgrading the ILCS system, print any setup or usage reports that you may need. Be aware that setup (HEX)
files for older systems are not compatible with the new 2.0 ILCS system, and the new system will not communicate
with an RM-6000I. You will need to program new setup information once the installation is complete.
(1) Turn all power to system off.
(2) Remove the four screws from the front of the control box and carefully open the cover.
(3) Locate the main EPROM chip on the control circuit board (identified as U15). Remove the chip by gently prying
up with a small blade screwdriver.
(4) Install the new chip provided in the kit. Be sure to line up the notch on the chip with the notch on the socket.
Carefully press the chip into the socket ensuring that none of the pins on the chip are bent, or mis-aligned.
(5) Install the external memory module in the back upper-right corner of the control box using the provided Dual-
Lock adhesive strips. Ensure that the communication jack on the module is pointing downward.
(6) Connect the external memory module to the ILCS control board with the short data cable provided. The right
angle plug should go into the control board and the straight plug should go into the module.
(7) Carefully close the cover of the control box, ensuring not to pinch any wires, and replace the four screws.
(8) Turn the system power back on.
SETUP
Once you have installed the ILCS controller chip and the external memory module, you will need to setup the ILCS
system to communicate with the memory module. After performing the steps below, you can then program the setup.
(1) At the ILCS control panel, enter your access code for programming.
(2) Go to menu #1 and press ENTER.
(3) Answer “yes” to all of the menu prompts. This will clear the system memory and will set the ID of the memory
module to match the system’s ID number.
(4) Process complete — press RESET until you get back to the default display.
NOTE: If the ID number of the ILCS system is changed at a later time, then the external memory module ID must
also be changed. The included system programming manual will guide you through this process
